Chapter 247: Snatch
by tinytreeHuang Xinyu had a figure that could be described as perfect—slim where it should be, rounded where it should be. Her soft, slender waist and full curves swayed gracefully with each step.
Many people cast admiring glances at Huang Xinyu. A woman like her, who combined status, wealth, and beauty, had an unparalleled allure for men.
Even Lin Xiao had to admit that among the people he knew, only Wan Caixuan surpassed Huang Xinyu. Even Ning Xi, though equally beautiful and well-proportioned, lacked the commanding presence that Huang Xinyu exuded.
The two of them walked, with Lin Xiao following a few steps behind. Huang Xinyu, noticing this, stopped with mild irritation and turned back.
“Lin Xiao, can’t you walk a bit faster? The supermarket is still a way off.”
Just as Lin Xiao was about to respond, his expression changed. His eyes flared with alarm as he rushed towards Huang Xinyu.
Lin Xiao had spotted a black motorcycle speeding towards them from a corner, its speed alarming, heading straight for Huang Xinyu.
Two people were on the motorcycle. As they passed Huang Xinyu, they simultaneously reached out, one aiming for the bag slung over her shoulder and the other for the diamond necklace around her neck.
Huang Xinyu, unaware of what was happening, was startled by Lin Xiao’s sudden movement and stood frozen.
Just as the two thieves were about to snatch Huang Xinyu’s bag and necklace, Lin Xiao reached her first, tackling her to the ground.
Even in such a sudden situation, Lin Xiao reacted correctly, wrapping his arms tightly around her. One hand protected her head, and the other held her waist, ensuring she wouldn’t be hurt by the fall.
The motorcycle zoomed past them, kicking up a cloud of dust. The two riders shouted curses in frustration.
“Auntie Xinyu, are you okay?” Lin Xiao asked, looking down at Huang Xinyu who was beneath him.
Huang Xinyu’s face was flushed. Whether from fear or some other reason, she bit her lower lip and said, “I’m fine. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine too. As long as you’re okay.” Lin Xiao sighed in relief.
It would have been humiliating if he had let the thieves snatch her bag right in front of him.
“Can you get up now if you’re okay?” Huang Xinyu asked softly.
Lin Xiao then realized their awkward position. He was completely on top of Huang Xinyu, their bodies pressed tightly together without any gap.
Embarrassed, Lin Xiao quickly got off Huang Xinyu and extended his hand to help her up. “Sorry about that. Those two were probably motorcycle thieves. The situation was urgent, so I had to take this approach.”
“It’s okay. How could I blame you for this?” Huang Xinyu replied, though she avoided looking at Lin Xiao.
When he had tackled her, her first feeling wasn’t fear, but a flutter of excitement. Even now, her heart was still pounding hard.
Lin Xiao squinted at the distant motorcycle. Instead of leaving after their failed attempt, the thieves had stopped a few hundred meters away, pointing and talking among themselves. He knew what they were planning. People who dared to rob in broad daylight were usually audacious. A single failure wouldn’t deter them. They would surely want to try again.
But Lin Xiao wasn’t going to give them another chance. If they dared to come back, he wouldn’t hesitate to teach them a lesson they wouldn’t forget.
The two on the motorcycle seemed to realize that Lin Xiao wasn’t an easy target. After observing for a while, they turned their bike around and left. Before departing, one of them made a throat-slitting gesture toward Lin Xiao.
Seeing the motorcycle leave, Huang Xinyu let out a sigh of relief. Although she felt safe with Lin Xiao around, she preferred avoiding trouble if possible.
However, that final gesture from the thief left Huang Xinyu with a sense of foreboding.
She straightened her clothes and brushed the dust off Lin Xiao, pretending to be relaxed.
“I didn’t expect to encounter something like this right after leaving the house. It’s a good thing you were here, otherwise, I wouldn’t know what to do.”
Lin Xiao, though, sensed something was off. He frowned slightly and said, “Those two thieves were very skilled and bold. They must be repeat offenders. Moreover, they seemed to have a clear target from the start and came directly at you, Auntie Xinyu.”
Lin Xiao paused, his expression serious as he looked at Huang Xinyu.
“Auntie Xinyu, have you noticed anything strange recently? Like unfamiliar people always watching you?”
Huang Xinyu was startled by Lin Xiao’s question. She frowned, thought carefully, and then shook her head. “I usually don’t go out much. I drive to and from work, and the security at both my neighborhood and company is tight. I’ve never really noticed anything unusual.”
“Maybe I’m just overthinking,” Lin Xiao said, recognizing Huang Xinyu’s unease and trying to reassure her with a smile. “It was probably just a coincidence. Don’t worry about it.”
“Are you sure?” Huang Xinyu wasn’t easily fooled. She could tell Lin Xiao was trying to comfort her. “Should we call the police?”
“Since they’re repeat offenders and the police haven’t caught them yet, they must know the police’s schedules and routes well. Reporting it might not help much.”
Lin Xiao glanced at his hands, a sharp glint briefly flashing in his eyes, which Huang Xinyu didn’t catch.
“Auntie Xinyu, leave this to me. As long as I’m here, they won’t be able to do anything.”
“I almost forgot I have an expert with me,” Huang Xinyu said, the worry vanishing from her face as she linked her arm with Lin Xiao’s. “Since you said so, I’ll leave it to you. Tonight, I’ll make sure to reward you properly.”
“Let’s hurry and buy the groceries so those two girls at home don’t get impatient.”

In a secluded alley in the city center, a black motorcycle pulled in and came to a stop. Two men sat on the bike, both wearing helmets. One of them jumped off and angrily threw his helmet to the ground, revealing a fierce-looking face.
“We finally got a chance, and we blew it!”
The other man took off his helmet more calmly, revealing a pale face with a sinister expression. He held his helmet and removed the motorcycle key.
“So what if we missed this chance? If we’re patient, we’ll get another one,” he said calmly.
“You can wait, but I can’t,” the fierce-looking man said, his face twitching. Suddenly, he grinned wickedly. “Why don’t we gather some of the guys and just kidnap that woman and her daughter?”
