The crowd gradually dispersed, allowing Lin Xiao to climb back into his car. He drove his Rolls-Royce into the hospital parking lot. After parking, he picked up the fruits and nutritional supplements and walked into the hospital.

In the special care ward, Yuan Yu sat at her mother’s bedside. The two of them were engrossed in conversation.

“Little Yu, Auntie, I’m here.” Lin Xiao announced as he pushed open the door to the special care ward.

“Big Brother Lin, you’ve arrived.” Yuan Yu turned her head excitedly. “Big Brother Lin, have you finished your work for the day? You were busy all day yesterday and still came to pick me up. You must be exhausted.”

“Not at all, I’m not tired,” Lin Xiao assured with a smile.

He then placed the fruits and nutritional supplements he had just bought from the supermarket on the bedside table before greeting Yuan Yu’s mother, who was lying in bed, “Hello, Auntie.”

Yuan’s mother gave a gentle smile and responded, “Little Xiao, you didn’t have to bring anything.”

“Fruits and supplements are good for your health, especially since your body is currently weak,” Lin Xiao expressed his concern. “By the way, Auntie, how are you feeling today?”

“Much better. I can even get out of bed and walk around. All thanks to you,” Yuan Yu’s mother said with a grateful smile.

She seemed far more optimistic. Her complexion was improving with each passing day. It appeared she had finally come out from the shadow of Yuan Yong’s sacrifice.

“That’s good news,” Lin Xiao sighed in relief.

He then settled into a chair next to the bed, feeling at ease. He chatted casually with Yuan’s mother and Yuan Yu.

Lin Xiao excused himself from the ward to visit the office of Yuan’s mother’s primary care physician, Dr. Li. He was initially worried about finding the doctor so late, but fortune favored him. Dr. Li was on shift that day.

“Dr. Li, could you update me on my aunt’s current condition?” Lin Xiao asked.

“Her situation has stabilized for now, but we must remember cirrhosis is a chronic disease. Furthermore, she had delayed treatment for quite some time, so we can’t let our guard down.” Dr. Li adjusted his glasses, meticulously perused the medical records in his hand, and explained.

“So, Dr. Li, what about that special medication you mentioned last time?”

“Given the current situation, if the special medication is used now, it could be very effective,” Dr. Li said. He then sighed, shaking his head. “Unfortunately, this special medication is expensive. It’s a substantial burden for the patient.”

“Dr. Li, please prepare the special medication for me. I will raise the five million,” Lin Xiao responded, his expression composed.

Dr. Li nodded and said, “I’ll arrange for the special medication, but you need to come up with the medical fees first. Only then can I schedule the administration of the medication.”

“Understood. Don’t worry Dr. Li. I’ll make sure the funds are available on time.”

After that, Lin Xiao asked about the precautions concerning Yuan Yu’s mother’s condition and then left the office.

Dr. Li watched Lin Xiao’s retreating figure, shaking his head and sighing. He didn’t hold much hope for Lin Xiao to raise the five million in medical expenses.

The last time they had discussed the cost of the special medication was five million, but there had been no further progress since. Five million was not a small sum, and gathering such an amount in a short period was challenging. This also indicated that Lin Xiao’s financial situation was not particularly robust.

When he returned to Yuan’s mother’s ward, Yuan Yu looked somewhat upset.

“Big Brother Lin, where did you go? You were away for so long.”

“I just went to the restroom,” Lin Xiao said with a chuckle, choosing not to disclose the issue about the five million in medical expenses. He believed he could handle the financial issue without adding stress to Yuan Yu.

“It’s getting late. You both should head back,” Yuan Yu’s mother suggested after some time.

Lin Xiao saw it was already past ten. He nodded. “Alright then, Auntie. Little Yu and I will take our leave.”

After leaving her mother’s hospital room, Yuan Yu turned to Lin Xiao and said, “Brother Lin, it’s already late. The buses have probably stopped running. Should we take a taxi?”

“No need, I brought a company car,” Lin Xiao replied. “Wait here for me. I’ll head to the parking lot and drive it over.”

“Okay, Brother Lin,” Yuan Yu nodded in agreement.

At that moment, a sudden crowd surged into the parking lot of Jinghai First Hospital.

They were mostly young men in their twenties, led by a tall, burly figure—around 6’3”—wearing a black long-sleeved shirt. He had a fierce, imposing presence, pushing forward like a man used to leading the charge.

Behind him trailed seven or eight others, including the three car thieves Lin Xiao had dealt with earlier. This time, they were armed with steel pipes and baseball bats.

The three thieves wore smug expressions as if their earlier humiliation had never happened.

From a distance, the parking lot attendant spotted the group and instantly backed off. Not even daring to breathe too loudly, he quickly shut the office door and pretended he hadn’t seen a thing.

“Brother Xue, you’ve got to avenge us. Teach that bastard a lesson,” grumbled the short man—still bitter about being kicked into dog feces.

Brother Xue cast him a cold, gloomy glance that made the short man shudder.

“Three of you got beaten up by one guy, and you’ve got the nerve to ask me to clean up your mess?”

The three car thieves winced in shame, their faces twisting with embarrassment. The rest of the group looked at them with open contempt.

“It’s not that we’re weak, Brother Xue,” the short thief protested, his face reddening. “That guy’s no ordinary fighter. He’s trained—seriously trained. We didn’t even see it coming. A few kicks and we were on the ground.”

“Hmph. Embarrassment is embarrassment. Don’t make excuses,” Brother Xue snapped.

He waved them off, then turned his attention to what really mattered.

    “You said he’s driving a brand-new Rolls-Royce. That true?”

“Absolutely, Brother Xue. We’d never lie to you.”

“Yeah, we saw him pull into this very lot before we ran to report back,” another thief added, patting his chest for emphasis.

“Didn’t you say there’s an underground race coming up?” one of the gangsters chimed in eagerly. “You said you were short a flashy car, right? That one’s perfect. No way a guy like him owns it. He’s probably a car thief like us. If you take it, he won’t dare say a word.”

A subtle smile crept onto the young man’s face.

“Alright,” he said, “if this goes according to plan, you won’t miss out on the rewards.”

As they entered the parking lot, a sharp-eyed underling suddenly pointed ahead and shouted, “Look! Isn’t that the one?”

Everyone turned to see a brand-new Rolls-Royce parked silently in the distance, its presence radiating understated grandeur.

The young man’s eyes lit up, a spark of excitement flashing like a cat spotting a fish or a mouse discovering a grain of rice. He strode straight to the car, his face flushed with anticipation. Circling it several times, he ran his hands over the polished surface, admiring every detail.

“Wow…” He was practically vibrating with excitement, his eyes gleaming. “This is the Rolls-Royce Phantom Series. The newest, most luxurious model. Only ten units in the world! I can’t believe I’m seeing it with my own eyes.”

It was clear he knew his cars. The other underlings quickly gathered around, their expressions filled with desire as they stared at the automotive masterpiece before them.

While they didn’t share the young man’s deep knowledge of cars, the extravagant, eye-catching design of the Rolls-Royce was more than enough to leave them captivated.

Luxury cars and beautiful women—the ultimate dreams of most men.

What did it mean for a car to be limited to just ten units worldwide? Even without a high level of education, they understood that this car was something extraordinary—luxurious, rare, and staggeringly expensive.

“Boss, how much do you think this car is worth?” one of the underlings asked, his voice trembling with awe.
