Chapter 83: Chen’s Martial Arts School
by tinytreeLin Xiao was oblivious to Chen Xue chastising his subordinates. Of course, even if he was aware, he wouldn’t pay it any mind.
After navigating out of the underground parking structure, Lin Xiao set out to pick up Yuan Yu from the hospital entrance.
Meanwhile, in front of the Jinghai First Hospital, Yuan Yu was anxiously looking around, waiting for Lin Xiao.
“Why is Big Brother Lin taking so long? He’s still not here?” she quietly muttered.
Just then, a white BMW pulled up beside her. The window rolled down, revealing a young man sporting sunglasses who suavely offered, “Miss, can I offer you a ride?”
“No, thank you,” Yuan Yu said, her brow furrowing slightly at the unexpected proposition.
Undeterred by Yuan Yu’s refusal, the young man pressed on. He had been observing Yuan Yu for a considerable amount of time. Her radiant beauty and otherworldly demeanor, seemingly untouched by worldly vanity, had stirred his desire. The simple, rustic attire she wore seemed to enhance her allure and, in his mind, signaled an opportunity.
“Please, don’t be a stranger. I happen to be free at the moment. Let’s get to know each other,” the persistent BMW man continued.
“No need, someone is already picking me up. Thank you, though,” Yuan Yu rejected once again.
“Miss—”
The BMW man was preparing to prolong his pestering when the gasps of onlookers cut him short.
“Wow, who owns that car? It’s magnificent.”
“Absolutely, it’s simply incredible. I wish I owned it; wouldn’t I be irresistible to women then?”
“Don’t kid yourself, that’s a Rolls-Royce, worth tens of millions. You wouldn’t be wooing women; women would be swooning over you.”
A gleaming, brand-new luxury vehicle was approaching from a distance.
Though it was well past 10 pm, the Jinghai First Hospital was located in a bustling commercial district, attracting quite a crowd.
However, even amidst the hustle and bustle of the commercial district, such top-tier luxury vehicles were a rare sight. As the onlookers observed the shiny new Rolls-Royce pulling up at the hospital gate, murmurs of envy, jealousy, and resentment permeated the air.
The BMW man’s gaze, too, was drawn to the shiny new Rolls-Royce. His appreciation for fine automobiles was more discerning than the surrounding spectators. Not only did he recognize the Rolls-Royce, a symbol of opulence in the automotive world, but he also quickly realized that this was not just any Rolls-Royce, but the elusive Phantom series, a legendary, globally limited super-luxury edition.
A hint of envy crossed his eyes. Though he was considered affluent by ordinary standards, he knew he was nothing compared to the owner of that car.
His family’s entire wealth didn’t come close to the value of that car.
Yuan Yu noticed the flashy luxury car rolling in her direction but initially paid it no mind. However, her mood soured when she saw it was heading toward her.
Already dealing with one pest, she was in no mood for another. But her annoyance quickly turned into surprise when she saw who stepped out of the car.
“Big Brother Lin?” she exclaimed in astonishment.
“I’m sorry for making you wait, Little Yu,” Lin Xiao said with a grin.
“It’s okay, Big Brother Lin,” Yuan Yu shook her head, her eyes drifting to the Rolls-Royce next to Lin Xiao, but she tactfully avoided asking about it.
That’s when Lin Xiao noticed the BMW parked next to Yuan Yu and the man inside, looking shocked behind his sunglasses. He frowned slightly and asked, “Who is he?”
The BMW guy was filled with disbelief and fear. He hadn’t anticipated that the seemingly disadvantaged girl he had flirted with would have such powerful connections.
He wasn’t naive. He knew someone who could afford such an extravagant car was well beyond his league. They could crush him without a second thought.
Having harassed Yuan Yu earlier, he was worried. Though he hadn’t crossed the line, he had no idea how this luxury car owner might react. He hoped Yuan Yu wouldn’t bring up his misbehavior.
“I don’t know him. Let’s not worry about him, Big Brother Lin. Let’s go,” Yuan Yu dismissed his pleading look with a shake of her head.
Lin Xiao didn’t give it a second thought. He simply nodded, and they got into the car together.
After getting into the car, Yuan Yu assumed the passenger seat, indifferent to the envious and jealous glances that followed them. Lin Xiao started the engine, stepped on the accelerator, and pulled away from Jinghai First Hospital.
Watching the departing Rolls-Royce, the man with the BMW breathed a sigh of relief, slumping back in his driver’s seat.
“What’s with people these days, acting like innocent lambs while being fierce tigers underneath? It’s terrifying,” he murmured.
Inside the Rolls-Royce, Yuan Yu couldn’t contain her curiosity anymore. “Big Brother Lin, this car?”
Although she wasn’t a car enthusiast, the lavish design and the pleading demeanor of the BMW man hinted that the vehicle was expensive.
“This car belongs to my employer. I’ve just been assigned to drive it,” Lin Xiao explained.
“And what is this job you have, Big Brother Lin?” Yuan Yu asked, her curiosity piqued.
She knew that Lin Xiao had landed a job, but the details were unclear. After hearing him mention his employer’s luxury car, her curiosity grew stronger.
“I’m a bodyguard,” Lin Xiao revealed. “I’ve been employed as a personal bodyguard to the CEO of a major corporation. That’s why I needed to buy a suit.”
“A bodyguard? Isn’t that a dangerous job?” Yuan Yu furrowed her brows, concern etched on her face.
“Have you forgotten what I used to do?” Lin Xiao smiled, tapping Yuan Yu’s forehead lightly. “For me, being a bodyguard is a breeze. There’s no danger involved.”
“But you still need to be careful,” Yuan Yu implored, a serious look on her face.
“Alright, alright. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” Lin Xiao assured her, a warm feeling blooming in his heart.
Though Jinghai First Hospital wasn’t far from Yongnan District, it wasn’t close either. Normally, it was a thirty to forty-minute drive. However, in Lin Xiao’s car and with the sparse nighttime traffic, they reached Yuan Yu’s home in about twenty minutes. It was late, and Yuan Yu had school the next day. Once home, Lin Xiao advised Yuan Yu to freshen up, and without further ado, he retired for the night.
At the break of dawn, around five, Lin Xiao was up, heading to the nearby park for his training routine.
After concluding his training, Lin Xiao bought breakfast on his way back to Yuan Yu’s house. A thought occurred to him.
“Today, I’ll pay a visit to Chen’s Martial Arts Hall.”
