Chapter 344: You Must Die
by tinytreeUnder the intense, greedy gaze of the lead bandit, Ning Xi’s expression turned frigid. Her brows knitted in disgust, her face so cold it seemed as if frost could form on her skin.
“Heh, now I get it.” The lead bandit sneered. “So that’s why you dared to go against me. Trying to show off for the beauty, huh?”
His eyes burned with an undisguised hunger, and he stepped back slightly, his gun still aimed at Lin Xiao.
“Too bad for you, you picked the wrong time and the wrong person.”
His voice was laced with malice.
“Get your ass up now. Or I’ll put a bullet in your head!”
Lin Xiao remained expressionless. He stood slowly, his cold gaze locked onto the bandit.
Despite the gun’s muzzle being barely a meter from his skull, Lin Xiao exuded nothing but calm indifference, as if nothing in this world could shake him.
The lead bandit’s eyes twitched.
“You too. Stand up.”
He tilted his chin toward Ning Xi, his eyes flickering with an ominous light, his lips curling into a wicked grin beneath the mask.
Ning Xi glanced at Lin Xiao. And in that brief moment of eye contact, she understood everything. Without hesitation, she stood up, stepping beside Lin Xiao.
“Damn!”
“Holy shit, what a woman!”
The other two bandits finally got a clear look at Ning Xi. Their eyes went wide, their breathing grew heavy, and their throats bobbed as they swallowed hard.
The undisguised greed in their stares made Lin Xiao’s eyes darken, killing intent rising within him.
But he held back.
Not yet.
These bandits were nothing to him. He could kill them effortlessly. But with guns in their hands and passengers still in the vehicle, making a move inside the bus would be too risky.
If things could be handled without unnecessary casualties, Lin Xiao preferred it that way. But if it came to it. He wouldn’t hesitate.
A soft heart accomplishes nothing.
Yet the three bandits remained blissfully unaware that they had already sealed their fate. They were walking into their own graves, clueless about the demon they had provoked.
“Give me the bag.”
The lead bandit turned to the bus driver, his tone sharp.
The driver’s head hung low, too afraid to even meet his eyes. Hands trembling, he quickly handed over the bag filled with valuables and scurried aside, not daring to breathe too loudly.
Not just the driver—even the passengers shrank into their seats, burying their heads like ostriches in the sand.
The lead bandit weighed the bag in his hand and grinned greedily.
“Not bad.” His eyes flicked to Ning Xi, and his grin widened. “And we even hit the jackpot with a beauty.”
His smile abruptly vanished as he shoved Lin Xiao’s shoulder.
“Get off the bus.”
But Lin Xiao didn’t budge. Not even an inch.
Instead, it was the bandit himself who stumbled back a step, as if he had just shoved a wall of steel.
His face darkened.
A flicker of rage passed through his eyes, and he pressed his gun harder against Lin Xiao’s head.
“Are you fucking deaf?! Get the hell off the bus!”
Lin Xiao’s voice remained calm. “If you stop now, you still have a chance. Otherwise… You. Will. Die.”
The bandit froze. For a brief moment, his mind went blank. Then, his expression twisted in fury.
“Did you just fucking say that I’m going to die?” He let out a mocking snort, his eyes filled with cruelty. “You’ve got some screws loose, kid.”
His lips curled into a sinister smirk.
“Don’t worry. You’ll die first. And after you’re dead, I’ll make sure to take good care of your woman.”
A glacial light flashed in Lin Xiao’s eyes. His patience was exhausted. He had given them a chance, but they chose to ignore it.
Now, they would die.
Ning Xi’s chest heaved in anger, her silver teeth clenched tight. She was just about to retort, but Lin Xiao gave her a look, stopping her.
Taking her hand, he walked toward the exit.
As he passed the bandit, he said casually, “Fine. We’ll get off. But just don’t regret it later.”
“Regret?”
The bandit laughed coldly.
“I never regret.”
The two bandits at the door hopped off first, their hungry eyes glued to Ning Xi like wolves eyeing their prey.
Once Lin Xiao, Ning Xi, and the three bandits were outside, the bus driver slammed the pedal, and the bus sped off, doors still open, fleeing like it was running from death itself.
Yet the bandits didn’t care.
Surrounding Lin Xiao and Ning Xi in a triangle formation, they finally pulled down their masks, revealing three vicious, scarred faces.
“Kid, if you get on your knees and beg, maybe we’ll spare you.”
The lead bandit sneered, raising his gun.
“We’ll just break your arms and legs instead. Otherwise, we’ll cripple you first, then take turns with your woman. Hahahaha! How’s that sound?”
Ning Xi’s fists clenched tightly. Her face paled, not from fear, but from disgust and rage.
But before she could react, Lin Xiao released her hand.
“Step back.” His voice was calm.
Ning Xi nodded immediately, knowing that these men were already dead.
As she retreated, Lin Xiao slowly lifted a finger and beckoned.
“Begging won’t save you now. You pissed me off.”
The bandits exchanged uneasy glances.
Something was wrong. Lin Xiao’s reaction wasn’t normal. A normal person in their situation would be crying, trembling, begging, or lashing out in blind rage.
But Lin Xiao was calm.
Too calm.
Even Ning Xi, standing behind him, wasn’t afraid. Instead, she was watching them with disdain, as if they were already dead.
Something was seriously off.
A terrible premonition crept into the lead bandit’s mind. His heart pounded. Without hesitation, he raised his gun and pulled the trigger.
The bullet whizzed through the air and hit nothing.
Lin Xiao had vanished.
“Where the fuck did he go?!”
The lead bandit’s pupils shrank.
Then he saw the horrified expressions of his two men.
“B-Boss… He’s right behind you!”
A chill ran down his spine. But before he could turn around, agonizing pain exploded in his throat. Lin Xiao’s hand had tightened around his neck and lifted him off the ground.
