Chapter 370: Arrival
by tinytree“Lin Xiao, teach me! How did you pull off that overtaking maneuver just now?” Li Yunxi gripped the steering wheel tightly, her back straightened, mimicking Lin Xiao’s driving posture. “Is it about pretending to turn left first, then suddenly switching to the right when the opponent falls for it?”
“That’s right.” Lin Xiao lazily responded.
“Then how exactly do you do it?” Li Yunxi pressed on.
This time, Lin Xiao didn’t answer. He simply turned his head away, ignoring her completely.
If someone didn’t have enough skill and experience, trying to imitate his driving techniques would be suicide.
Understanding Li Yunxi’s personality, Lin Xiao didn’t want to give her any false hope.
Technically, what she said wasn’t wrong, but execution was another story. The difficulty and danger involved were beyond imagination.
The biggest challenge—and the most life-threatening part—was the massive inertia of a high-speed sports car. If the timing was even slightly off, or if there was the smallest miscalculation, the result could be disastrous—at best, a rollover; at worst, death.
“Playing dumb, huh? Fine! I’ll figure it out myself.”
True to her word, Li Yunxi immediately tried to replicate Lin Xiao’s maneuver.
The result?
If Lin Xiao hadn’t reacted in time—grabbing the wheel and slamming the brakes—the Ferrari would have flipped right over.
Nothing drives a lesson home better than a near-death experience.
The frightened Li Yunxi turned pale, her face drained of all color. From that moment on, she didn’t dare to try again, obediently driving properly.
The rest of the journey was uneventful.
Thirty minutes later, they arrived at their destination.
***
Shuyue Hot Spring Resort was located on the outskirts of Jinghai City, about 40 kilometers away from the downtown area.
Built along the mountains, it occupied a vast area and was one of the most prestigious retreat destinations in Jinghai. It was a favored gathering and leisure spot for the wealthy and elite.
A wine-red Ferrari drove into the resort’s spacious plaza and came to a stop.
The plaza was as large as a soccer field, doubling as a parking lot. Various vehicles filled the space, from ordinary vans and buses to luxury brands like Mercedes, Ferrari, and Porsche.
The moment they stepped out of the car, Li Yunxi grabbed Lin Xiao’s arm and dragged him forward.
“Hurry up, Lin Xiao! I already reserved our spot. If we’re late, someone else might take it.”
Lin Xiao, half unwilling, was pulled along.
With her striking beauty and curvaceous figure, Li Yunxi was a rare sight, even in the entire city of Jinghai.
As soon as she appeared, she became the center of attention.
“Whoa! That girl is stunning!”
“Look at that figure… damn!”
Some people whistled in admiration.
“Man, if I had a girlfriend like that, my life would be complete.”
“Who’s that guy she’s holding onto? Doesn’t even look that special,” a man muttered enviously, his tone dripping with jealousy. “He’s not even as handsome as me. Another lucky bastard who stepped in dogshit.”
“Look at his expression. He is pulled by a goddess, yet looks so unwilling.” Another man clenched his fists. “If it were me, I’d be on my knees kissing the ground she walks on.”
Compared to the radiant and eye-catching Li Yunxi, Lin Xiao didn’t stand out at all.
Beautiful women attract hatred.
Even though Lin Xiao had done nothing, just being with her was enough to make certain people despise him.
Of course, despite their jealousy, no one actually dared to make a move. Most people weren’t stupid—anyone could tell that Li Yunxi and Lin Xiao weren’t ordinary people. After all, an average person wouldn’t be driving a luxury car worth millions.
Li Yunxi strode confidently into the resort, calling over a female staff member.
She reached into her small handbag, pulled out a VIP reservation card, and handed it over.
“I’m Li Yunxi. This is my reservation, take me there.”
Her tone was commanding, carrying a hint of arrogance and authority.
The female staff member was quite pretty, above average in looks, but compared to Li Yunxi, she was completely outshone, whether in beauty or presence.
Seeing Li Yunxi’s imposing demeanor, the staff member tensed up slightly, quickly taking the reservation card and glancing at it. Her expression became even more respectful.
“Miss Li, you are a VIP guest. I am not qualified to serve you personally. Please wait a moment, I will call the manager over right away.”
The staff member quickly left and soon returned with a woman in her thirties, dressed in a professional suit with light makeup.
“Miss Li! It’s been a while since you last visited.”
The manager greeted her enthusiastically, smiling so wide her eyes almost disappeared.
“Are you here for the hot springs? And this gentleman is…?”
At this moment, Li Yunxi’s entire demeanor changed.
The cheerful, playful side she showed to Lin Xiao was gone. Now, she was aloof and domineering. If she were a sweet angel with Lin Xiao, then to others, she was a queen.
“His last name is Lin. Just call him Mr. Lin.” She waved impatiently. “Manager Xiao, cut the chit-chat. Don’t waste my time.”
The manager stiffened slightly, a flicker of fear flashing through her eyes.
She quickly nodded. “Understood! Please follow me, your companions are already waiting.”
“Companions?”
Lin Xiao’s gaze sharpened, turning to Li Yunxi with a hint of suspicion.
Li Yunxi’s expression instantly changed. Her eyes narrowed, and her tone carried an unmistakable threat.
“Manager Xiao, you must be mistaken, right?”
Her half-smiling, half-threatening gaze was cute, but to Manager Xiao, it was terrifying. Like a little white rabbit caught in a fox’s stare, she shuddered, her back stiffening.
Who was Li Yunxi?
The only daughter of Jinghai’s wealthiest man, Li Liancheng.
A top-tier socialite.
A wild, untamed queen of the wealthy elite.
Someone everyone feared.
Years ago, Manager Xiao had made the grave mistake of offending Li Yunxi once. Although she hadn’t been physically harmed, she had been taught a lesson that left a permanent shadow in her heart.
Since then, every time she saw Li Yunxi, she felt like a mouse facing a cat.
And now, she had accidentally upset her again.
Facing Li Yunxi’s piercing gaze, Manager Xiao’s heart pounded.
“I-I’m sorry, Miss Li! I must have been mistaken. Those people have nothing to do with you.”
“Good. Next time, watch your mouth.” Li Yunxi scoffed, looping her arm through Lin Xiao’s. “Now lead the way.”
Manager Xiao quickly shut her mouth, forcing a smile. Without saying another word, she turned and led them deeper into the resort.
