Chapter 378: Even More Arrogant
by tinytree“Impossible, I don’t believe it. How could you be Li Yunxi?”
Before Gu Shaojun could finish speaking, another slap landed on his face.
“Do you think you’re worthy of calling the name of this lady?” Li Yunxi’s face was icy cold. “And whether you believe it or not, I am Li Yunxi. I don’t need to prove anything to you. Understood?”
After that slap, Gu Shaojun’s arrogance disappeared completely. He lowered his head and stammered timidly, “U-understood.”
“You’re the first person in Jinghai who has dared to cause trouble for this lady.”
The frost on Li Yunxi’s face suddenly melted, replaced by a gentle smile. Her moods were unpredictable, and it was precisely because of this that she was called the demoness. “So, tell me, how do you think this matter should be resolved?”
“L-Li… Miss Li, this was all my fault. I sincerely apologize.”
Now that Gu Shaojun knew Li Yunxi’s identity, his heart was filled with nothing but fear. He understood that if Li Yunxi wanted to, she could make it impossible for him to continue living in Jinghai, and even his father would face immense trouble. “I just came back from abroad, and I didn’t recognize who I was dealing with. Please be magnanimous and forgive me.”
Even though Gu Shaojun was a rich second-generation heir, in front of someone even more powerful, he had no choice but to lower his head and apologize, no matter how unwilling he felt.
He had no other option—he simply couldn’t afford to offend this lady.
At the same time, he felt utterly wronged. If she had told me who she was from the start, would I have dared to provoke her?
He would have run away immediately.
“Under normal circumstances, I would’ve spent some time having fun with you, teaching you a proper lesson so you’d understand the consequences of provoking this lady.”
Li Yunxi’s playful, cat-like gaze made Gu Shaojun shiver. Just as he was about to beg for mercy, her tone suddenly shifted.
“But, this lady has other things to do today and doesn’t have time to waste on you. So, as long as you take off your shirt and clean my car until it shines, I’ll let you off this time.”
Humiliation! Absolute humiliation!
For a rich second-generation heir like him, standing half-naked in public, wiping someone else’s car—what could be more degrading than this?
Gu Shaojun’s face turned bright red, his teeth grinding audibly. He was about to refuse, but when he lifted his head, his eyes met Li Yunxi’s icy gaze. The courage he had just mustered instantly crumbled.
“L-Li… Miss Li… I… I…” Gu Shaojun forced out an awkward, pitiful smile.
“What? You don’t agree?” Li Yunxi’s beautiful eyes narrowed, glinting with danger.
“N-no! I agree!”
A shiver ran through Gu Shaojun’s entire body. Without hesitation, he stripped off his floral shirt, exposing his pale, untrained physique, and hurried over to the Ferrari. He bent down and started wiping the car furiously.
A few minutes later, Gu Shaojun finally finished cleaning the Ferrari. Sweat covered his forehead, and he stood beside the now-spotless car, clutching his dirty shirt, looking at Li Yunxi nervously.
“This time, I’ll let you off the hook. But never appear in front of this lady again. Now, get lost!”
Li Yunxi waved her hand impatiently.
Gu Shaojun let out a sigh of relief. Feeling the stares of the surrounding crowd, his face burned with embarrassment. He covered his face with his hands, completely ignoring his bodyguard and lackeys, and bolted away as fast as he could.
As he ran, tears of humiliation streamed down his face.
“Whoever dares to appear in front of her again is a damned idiot!” Gu Shaojun screamed internally, his heart filled with shame and fury.
Watching Li Yunxi handle the spoiled rich kid in an even more arrogant manner, Lin Xiao couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Her reputation was well deserved.
However, unlike his disdain for Gu Shaojun’s arrogance, Lin Xiao didn’t mind Li Yunxi’s way of handling things.
Gu Shaojun’s arrogance came from idleness, causing trouble wherever he went, bullying others simply because of his background. Meanwhile, Li Yunxi’s arrogance was a direct counterattack.
As the saying goes, it takes an even bigger villain to deal with a villain. Against people like Gu Shaojun, the only effective method was to be even more ruthless than they. That was the only way they would truly learn their lesson.
With the Gu Shaojun issue resolved, Lin Xiao and Li Yunxi each got into their respective cars and headed back toward the city.
Once they arrived in the city center, Li Yunxi got out and joined Fang Yuan and the others, while Lin Xiao drove her Ferrari alone in another direction.

Yongnan District Police Station, Conference Room
Inside the meeting room, a female officer, her willow-shaped brows arched sharply, her bright eyes filled with determination, was angrily reprimanding her subordinates.
She was none other than Su Mengjia, the captain of the Yongnan District Criminal Investigation Division.
“Five people have been killed in a row recently! The murderer’s methods are identical each time! What the hell are you all doing? Why haven’t you found a single lead?”
Sitting below her was a square-faced officer with a crew cut, who could only smile bitterly. “Captain, it’s not that we’re not working hard. This murderer is just too cunning. Every time he acts, he leaves no survivors, no fingerprints, no witnesses. Even if we want to investigate, there’s nothing to go on! We can only conduct a slow, methodical search.”
“A slow search?”
Su Mengjia slammed her hand on the conference table, her eyes blazing with anger. “The longer we take, the more people will die! This murderer is brutal, inhuman! We don’t have time to waste on slow investigations! I don’t care what methods you use. You must track down this killer as soon as possible. I refuse to believe that a person can just vanish into thin air under our noses! From now on, put aside any non-urgent cases. Our main priority is—”
Just then, a knock sounded on the conference room door. A young officer walked in. His expression was a bit strange.
He stood at the doorway and saluted Su Mengjia. “Captain, someone is here to see you.”
“Not interested.”
Su Mengjia frowned. Being interrupted during an important meeting only worsened her already bad mood.
“I think you should see her. It’s Miss Li Yunxi, daughter of Li Liancheng. She said she has something very important to discuss with you.”
The young officer hesitated before adding.
“Li Liancheng? The richest man in Jinghai? His daughter has urgent business with me?”
Su Mengjia raised an eyebrow in mild surprise.
She had initially planned to refuse outright—after all, she was already overwhelmed dealing with the murderer. She had no time for unrelated people, and she certainly wasn’t impressed by the Li family’s status.
However, upon hearing that the matter was supposedly very important, she hesitated and changed her mind. Rising from her seat, she instructed, “Continue the meeting. Discuss the next course of action. I’ll step out for a moment to meet our visitor.”
Su Mengjia left the conference room.
On the long bench in the station’s lobby, Li Yunxi sat with Fang Yuan and the other two girls beside her.
Lin Xiao, however, was nowhere to be seen.
