    Chapter Index

    Inside the villa.

After the police left, Fang Yuan’s father dismissed the bodyguards as well, only then beginning to speak with the girls.

“Yunxi, you’ve really worked hard this time. If it weren’t for your help, our family wouldn’t have come through this so smoothly.”

Fang Yuan’s father looked at Li Yunxi, his tone filled with gratitude. “If you ever need anything from Uncle in the future, just say the word.”

“Uncle, don’t be so formal. Yuan Yuan and I are like sisters, her business is my business.” Li Yunxi wrapped an arm around Fang Yuan’s shoulder, grinning. “Besides, the one you should really be thanking isn’t me, it’s someone else.”

“I know. That young man named Lin Xiao, do you know where he went? If he’s willing, I’d like to thank him in person.”

“I don’t know either. Probably had something else to take care of.”

Li Yunxi didn’t want to reveal too much about Lin Xiao and brushed it off casually. “Uncle, since your family’s okay, I can relax now. I’ll take my leave.”

She stood, politely waved goodbye to Fang Yuan’s parents, and then left the villa with Cheng Lin and Chi Feier.

“Big Sis, where are we going next?” Cheng Lin asked in a low voice.

Since Li Yunxi’s car had been taken by Lin Xiao, Cheng Lin was temporarily acting as her chauffeur.

“Where did Brother Lin go?” Chi Feier asked curiously. “After he took care of that killer, shouldn’t he have regrouped with us?”

“I’ll give him a call.” Li Yunxi frowned slightly, pulling out her phone and dialing Lin Xiao’s number. Though she was worried about his safety, her expression didn’t show it.

After more than ten seconds, the call connected.

“Lin Xiao, where are you?” she asked urgently as soon as the call went through.

“I’m in the eastern part of Yongnan, driving back to Maple Leaf Street. Get a change of clothes ready for me. Let’s meet there,” came Lin Xiao’s calm voice from the phone.

“Got it. I’m on my way. You’re not hurt, are you?”

“No. I’m hanging up now. See you soon.”

Li Yunxi put down her phone, a look of relief spreading across her face. “He’s fine. Let’s go. Maple Leaf Street in Yongnan District.”

The three girls got into Cheng Lin’s Porsche and drove toward Maple Leaf Street.

“So Brother Lin lives on Maple Leaf Street in Yongnan District, huh? With his abilities, he shouldn’t be strapped for cash. Why live somewhere so run-down and remote?” Chi Feier blinked her big, watery eyes, full of curiosity.

Li Yunxi had never really thought about it. Although she’d known Lin Xiao for a long time, she had never really gotten a close look into his personal life.

“Who knows? We’ll ask him later.”

Lin Xiao pulled the Ferrari into a secluded corner of Maple Leaf Street.

He wore only a pair of pants, his upper body bare, revealing a muscular, chiseled physique.

When he killed those two murderers, some blood had splattered on his clothes. To avoid unnecessary trouble, he had simply taken them off—hence asking Li Yunxi to bring him a fresh outfit.

Sitting in the Ferrari, Lin Xiao held two bone tokens in his hand, eyes closed, calmly resting.

The tokens belonged to the two murderers he had just killed. Identical in design, they were clearly identification tokens for members of the dark organization Purifiers.

No one knew how long had passed when Lin Xiao suddenly clenched his fist, crushing both tokens into dust. He extended his hand out the window, letting the powder drift away in the wind.

    Thirty minutes later.

A Porsche slowly pulled into Maple Leaf Street and stopped beside the Ferrari.

Li Yunxi stepped out holding a brand-new set of casual clothes. Looking at Lin Xiao with a half-smile, she teased, “Where’s your shirt? Don’t tell me some girl took advantage of you?”

Lin Xiao opened his eyes, took the clothes from her, and put them on. “Besides you, who else could possibly take advantage of me?”

He was feeling quite relaxed and, rarely, even cracked a joke.

Li Yunxi rolled her eyes at him, charming and flirtatious. “Come on, let’s get some food. I’ll take the chance to take advantage of you myself.”

After the meal, Lin Xiao said goodbye to Li Yunxi and the other two girls, then returned to Yuan Yu’s home.

A lot had happened that day—he had even killed two blood-soaked murderers—but the moment he stepped through the door, a sense of peace washed over him. All the killing intent and restlessness gradually faded.

He sat on a recliner in the living room, body relaxed, eyes half-closed. If not for the rise and fall of his chest, he might have been mistaken for a lifeless statue.

    The sky gradually darkened.

Streetlights flickered on one by one, and the darkness once again shrouded the land.

Lin Xiao received a message from Yuan Yu: “Big Brother Lin, we have evening classes today. I might be home a bit late.”

Lin Xiao smiled faintly, replied to the message, then got up and left the house to train in the nearby park.

Tomorrow was the day of his scheduled meeting with Lei Qianting.

    The night passed without incident.

The next day, after taking Yuan Yu to school, Lin Xiao drove alone to the agreed meeting spot.

    Dongxu Manor.

From afar, he saw Ji Wei and Tang Heng standing at the gate. As for the two gang bosses, Hao Lifeng and Ma Qingye, there was no sign of them, nor of any gang members.

Lin Xiao’s gaze sharpened. He didn’t know what tricks they were planning, but he wasn’t about to back down. He parked the car and walked toward the manor.

Seeing him, both Ji Wei and Tang Heng looked uneasy. Tang Heng turned his head to look elsewhere. Ji Wei stepped forward and, in a cool voice, said, “Master Lin, my master is waiting for you in the main hall. Please allow me to guide you.”

After being defeated by Lin Xiao so easily, Ji Wei’s attitude changed drastically. All arrogance was gone, and her tone now carried a trace of respect.

Though Lin Xiao was younger than her, in the world of ancient martial arts, strength determined status. Age was irrelevant. Ji Wei now treated Lin Xiao as she would a senior.

Lin Xiao gave her a glance and nodded. “Alright. I’ll trouble you, then.”

“This is my duty. Please follow me.” Ji Wei quickened her pace, leading the way.

With Ji Wei guiding him, Lin Xiao arrived at the manor’s main hall.

No one noticed that beside Ji Wei, Tang Heng’s eyes flashed with both resentment and satisfaction as he watched Lin Xiao walk into the estate.

Once inside, Lin Xiao immediately saw Lei Qianting standing in the open space in front of the hall, dressed in white training attire.

Lei Qianting stood with legs apart, knees slightly bent, arms held as if embracing something in front of his chest, head tilted toward the sky, assuming a posture known as sun and moon.

With each breath, his chest rose and fell rhythmically. The stance looked a bit like a frog crouched on the ground.

Yet on Lei Qianting, it exuded a massive, surging aura, radiating from him in all directions. Even from ten meters away, Lin Xiao could hear the powerful, resonant sound of his breathing.

Lin Xiao stopped and stood silently more than ten meters away.

Several minutes later, Lei Qianting finally finished his cultivation. He slowly opened his eyes, a flash of sharp light gleaming within them.

“Master Lin, sorry to keep you waiting,” Lei Qianting said as he extended a hand in polite invitation. “Please, come inside and have a seat.”

“Master Lei, let’s skip the formalities. I came today to fulfill the agreement we made two days ago.” Lin Xiao stood his ground. “Time is precious, shall we begin now?”
