Chapter 484: Return to Jinghai
by tinytreeJinghai City Train Station.
It was already evening. The setting sun cast slanting rays, and the afterglow painted the sky.
The station was bustling with streams of people. Everyone moved in a hurry—some dragging suitcases, some carrying briefcases, some shouldering travel bags. None stopped their steps.
However, whenever they passed a certain corner of the station, they would subconsciously slow their pace and glance in a particular direction.
Because in that direction stood two incredibly adorable girls.
One girl had two braided pigtails, eyes large and round, dark and bright. Even without smiling, dimples peeked from her cheeks. She wore a black cartoon T-shirt and tight denim shorts. Her fair skin, full chest, slender waist, and long legs, matched with her youthful and sweet face, made her the embodiment of baby-faced charm.
The other girl had long hair cascading down her shoulders, stunningly beautiful. Her brows were like distant mountains, her eyes like autumn waters, and her small cherry lips were slightly pursed, showing a quiet yet determined demeanor. She wore a long white dress, her slender pale legs neatly together. Standing there, she looked like a beautiful sprite from a painting.
These two girls were so outstanding that even in a crowded station, they drew every gaze. Men and women alike showed expressions of amazement.
“YuYu, why isn’t Big Brother Lin here yet?” Huang Caixing stood on her tiptoes, repeatedly looking into the distance.
Yuan Yu stood quietly with both hands folded in front of her, forming a sharp contrast with Huang Caixing’s lively movements.
“Let’s wait a little longer. Big Brother said he’d be here soon.”
Huang Caixing raised her wrist and checked the time. “It’s been over ten minutes already. Should I call him again?”
“It’s just been ten minutes, why are you so anxious?” Yuan Yu kept her head down, uncomfortable with being stared at by so many people. Her voice was soft, only audible to Huang Caixing. “You’ve already called him three times. Let Big Brother Lin have a break.”
“I miss him, okay?” Huang Caixing rolled her eyes proudly. “This is what they call a day apart feels like three autumns. You don’t get it.”
Yuan Yu couldn’t help but giggle, like a hundred flowers blooming, utterly enchanting.
Just then, a man’s affected voice sounded next to the two girls, “Little sisters, what are you doing here? Do you need any help?”
Yuan Yu’s smile instantly vanished, her expression turning blank. Huang Caixing frowned and looked toward the voice.
The speaker was a man in his thirties with a fair face and puffy eyes. His thinning hair was combed meticulously, and he wore a fine blue suit with glossy leather shoes, carrying a briefcase, looking every bit the image of a professional.
Behind him stood five or six young men in black suits, seemingly his subordinates.
The middle-aged man spoke gently, his concern seemingly overflowing. But he might’ve been more convincing if his eyes hadn’t been roaming so indecently over the girls.
His subordinates were no better, their eyes burning as they stared at Yuan Yu and Huang Caixing’s lovely faces.
Huang Caixing’s expression turned openly disgusted. Her tone was cold and hard.
“Waiting for someone.”
“Waiting for who?” The man walked closer as if he hadn’t noticed her hostility at all, smiling warmly. “Just tell uncle who you’re waiting for, I’ll have someone wait here for you. You two can find a place to rest.”
“No need.” A glint of wariness flashed in Huang Caixing’s eyes. Her voice was icy. “Thanks for the concern, but we’re fine.”
Despite her innocent and cheerful demeanor around Lin Xiao, she showed zero tolerance toward unfamiliar men.
“It’s fine, just lending a hand.”
The man stepped right up to the two girls, staring at their pretty faces with barely concealed lust, though his words remained righteous.
“This is a train station, full of all sorts of dangerous places. There are thieves, traffickers, even killers. Two young girls like you are vulnerable. If someone targets you, it’ll be trouble. How about uncle takes you to the security office?”
Huang Caixing finally lost patience. This man’s fake politeness thoroughly disgusted her. She no longer cared to play along.
“Dangerous? You’re the one who’s dangerous. I don’t think you’re anything good. Get lost; stop wasting our time.”
The man’s expression changed, turning angry. “How can a little girl talk like that? I’m kindly offering help, afraid you’d get tricked. How about I take you to the security room? You can wait for your friend there.”
He reached out to grab Huang Caixing’s arm.
But before he could touch her, an arm suddenly shot out from the side and grabbed his wrist like lightning.
Startled, the man turned his head sharply.
Standing behind him was a young man in his twenties, looking at him with a cold, indifferent gaze.
He wore casual clothes and looked unremarkable, with deep-set eyes and no imposing aura. But being stared at like that made the middle-aged man’s heart race, palms sweating.
“Who are you? What do you want?” He yanked his wrist, trying to break free. “Why are you grabbing me?”
The young man said nothing, his hand unmoving. His gaze left the man and shifted to the girls standing nearby.
The two girls were already smiling brightly, eyes sparkling, staring fixedly at the young man who had suddenly appeared.
Huang Caixing even called out directly, “Big Brother Lin!”
The coldness in Lin Xiao’s eyes softened slightly. Without sparing the man a glance, he asked in a low voice, “Are you two alright?”
Yuan Yu smiled and walked to Lin Xiao’s side, shaking her head obediently.
Huang Caixing was bolder. Even with all the onlookers, she threw her arms around Lin Xiao’s waist, rubbing her cheek against his chest.
“Big Brother Lin, why are you so late? We’ve been waiting forever!”
Her tone was both happy and a little pouty.
“Who is this guy!?”
“A beautiful girl just ran into his arms! That charm is insane!”
“He doesn’t even look that handsome, and his clothes are so plain. How is this possible?”
People around were dumbfounded, eyes nearly falling out of their sockets. The envy, jealousy, and hatred toward Lin Xiao soared. Many cursed silently: a good cabbage got eaten by a pig.
Wait, not just one cabbage, but two.
Lin Xiao looked average, dressed in ordinary clothes, with nothing about him that screamed standout, and yet these two stunning girls were so close to him. No one could figure out why.
The middle-aged man’s face flushed red. He was angry at being ignored and jealous beyond words. He tried with all his strength to break free, but Lin Xiao’s grip was like iron. No matter how he struggled, he couldn’t escape.
And the more he struggled, the tighter Lin Xiao’s hand clenched—like an iron clamp—pressing deep red marks into his wrist, sending waves of pain through his arm.
