    Chapter Index

Lin Xiao, recalling Li Yunxi’s earlier statement about searching for him for a long time, asked, “Miss Li, what did you mean by saying you’ve been looking for me for a long time?”

“Because I’m very interested in you and was thinking of making you my underling,” Li Yunxi said, sitting back in the driver’s seat. “What do you say? Considering my magnanimity toward you, why not join me?”

“I thought I made myself clear last time,” Lin Xiao said.

“I’ll take you somewhere that might change your mind,” Li Yunxi buckled up before turning to Lin Xiao with a mischievous smile.

“There are significant benefits to joining me,” she promised.

Without waiting for Lin Xiao’s consent, she ignited the Ferrari and stepped on the gas.

The Ferrari roared to life, speeding away.

Lin Xiao had no clue where Li Yunxi intended to take him, but seeing as they were already en route, he refrained from further commentary. It would be futile. Li Yunxi wasn’t one to heed others’ words, after all.

“I heard that you had another run-in with Le Fangyun recently. And he ended up worse for wear because of it?”

Li Yunxi glanced at Lin Xiao, her interest piqued.

She was unaware that Le Fangyun’s misfortune was far from minor. He had nearly ended up in police custody and now wished nothing more than for Lin Xiao to drop dead immediately. Despite some rumors circulating within their circles, Le Fangyun had kept the incident well hidden, anxious to prevent his distant uncle, the Mayor of Jinghai City, from finding out.

“Yes, we did run into each other, and there was a bit of a skirmish that led us to the police station,” Lin Xiao said, his eyes slightly closed as he flexed his hands. “Miss Li, how did you come to know of this?”

“The circles we move in are small, news of anyone’s misfortunes quickly becomes common knowledge. However, you have to be careful. I’ve heard that Le Fangyun is furious. Be on your guard, he’s likely plotting his revenge,” Li Yunxi cautioned.

“Meet force with force, water with earth,” Lin Xiao responded, unperturbed.

To Lin Xiao, Le Fangyun was insignificant. Last time, Le Fangyun was lucky. Had it not been for the police’s intervention, Lin Xiao would have made him regret being born into this world.

Lin Xiao hadn’t encountered Le Fangyun after leaving the police station and felt no compulsion to seek him out. Like an elephant indifferent to an ant on the roadside–if the ant poses an annoyance, it’s easily crushed, but otherwise, it’s not worth the effort to find.

Of course, should Le Fangyun persist in seeking revenge, he shouldn’t expect to be as fortunate as before.

The Zhenjiang District was a rather secluded area, the surroundings were quite desolate with hardly any people around. Yet, amidst this desolation, stood a mansion exuding luxury, its entrance gate bearing the inscription “Perfect Life Private Wellness Club.”

A wine-red Ferrari drew near, coming to a halt at the club’s entrance.

Exiting the vehicle were Lin Xiao and Li Yunxi.

Lin Xiao hadn’t anticipated Li Yunxi would lead him to such an isolated spot, to a private club no less, stirring an odd sensation within him.

Could it be that the lady harbored ulterior motives toward him?

Li Yunxi nonchalantly tossed the keys to a doorman who hurried over, then gestured for Lin Xiao to follow her with a flick of her finger, “Come on, let’s go inside.”

“What place is this?” Lin Xiao stood still.

“Can’t you read the sign? Perfect Life Wellness Club.” Li Yunxi stretched without a care, vigorously shaking her neck. The lengthy drive had left her with a sore back and an aching waist.

“I know what this place is, but my question is why you’ve brought me here.”

“Why so many questions? You’re not scared I’ll do something bad to you, are you? You’ll find out soon enough,” Li Yunxi retorted with impatience, grabbing Lin Xiao’s wrist and dragging him inside, “No more dilly-dallying, let’s head in.”

Upon entering the club, they were approached by a woman in her thirties, dressed in a professional suit, with an attractive figure and face, though she fell short when compared to Miss Li.

The woman greeted them with a bright smile and enthusiastic tone, “Miss Li, you’ve arrived.”

“Mm.” Li Yunxi treated others with a markedly different attitude than she did Lin Xiao, showing indifference. “Manager Zhao, is everything set up?”

“Absolutely, we’ve prepared everything in advance, just waiting for your arrival,” Manager Zhao responded, bowing slightly, used to Li Yunxi’s demeanor, then glanced at Lin Xiao, “May I know who this gentleman is?”

Manager Zhao was greatly curious about Lin Xiao’s identity. This was her first time seeing Miss Li bring a man here. Miss Li was notoriously distant within the circle of affluent second generations, yet here she was, bringing a man to a private club.

And if she hadn’t been mistaken, Miss Li had even been holding the man’s hand.

Manager Zhao was taken aback, finding the situation incredulous.

“There’s no need for you to know.” Li Yunxi casually let go of Lin Xiao’s wrist, “Please, lead the way.”

    “Of course.”

Hearing Li Yunxi’s command and aware of her status, Manager Zhao dared not ask further questions. After giving Lin Xiao another look, she turned to lead them forward.

The Perfect Life Wellness Club aimed for the high-end market. Despite its low profile and secluded location, it covered a vast area with luxurious and elegant interior decorations. It enjoyed an excellent reputation among Jinghai City’s elite.

Lin Xiao remained quiet after entering the club, not uttering a word, leaving the arrangements to Li Yunxi. He was curious about what she had in store for him.

Manager Zhao led Lin Xiao and Li Yunxi to a room deep within the club, opened the door, and gestured inside, “Miss Li, this is it.”

Li Yunxi entered first, surveyed the room, and nodded in approval, “This room is quite nice. It seems you’ve put in the effort.”

“Miss Li is an esteemed guest of our club. Naturally, we will fulfill any request you have,” Manager Zhao said, her hands clasped in front of her in a humble posture. “Should we bring the other items you requested now?”

“There’s no hurry. I’ll let you know when I need them,” Li Yunxi said after a quick inspection of the room. Noticing Lin Xiao still standing outside, she pulled him in.

“Why are you standing out there? Are you satisfied with this room? If not, I can have them change it.”

Lin Xiao, puzzled by Li Yunxi’s intentions, asked, “Miss Li, what are you trying to do exactly? What does this room have to do with me?”
