Chapter 108: Contact Number
by tinytreeUpon seeing Yang Tao effortlessly defeat Heigui and his two associates, the leader and the remaining few of his men had their faces turn ashen with fear.
It seemed that this unfortunate fellow had no regard for the Hundred Seat Society. A flicker of ferocity flashed in the leader’s eyes. He reached for the holster at his waist and quickly drew a firearm.
“Gun! Watch out,” shouted Su Mengjia.
The leader pulled the trigger just as she finished speaking, and the sharp crack of a gunshot shattered the silent night. At the same instant, the other few men with him also drew their guns from their waists and fired wildly at Lin Xiao.
Several booming gunshots in rapid succession echoed in the usually deserted and quiet alley.
The leader and his few subordinates wore expressions of relief after firing their guns. Lin Xiao’s presence had exerted enormous pressure on them.
If it wasn’t for the courage that firearms had given them, they would have fled long ago. The man before them seemed more monster than human, impervious to blades and seemingly impossible to defeat.
However, they believed that no matter how unnatural Lin Xiao was, he wouldn’t be able to withstand the force of bullets.
“No! What did you do?” Su Mengjia shouted, her eyes filled with despair. She, too, believed that Lin Xiao couldn’t possibly survive that. Her heart was filled with guilt toward Lin Xiao. If it wasn’t for her, he probably wouldn’t have died.
“This… this… this is impossible!” came a voice filled with horror and disbelief from the alley.
The leader, filled with fear, stared at the unharmed Lin Xiao in front of him, as if he had seen a ghost. Even guns couldn’t deal with this guy. Was he human or a ghost?
“Run! Run! Run!” the leader finally stammered, his voice tinged with terror.
“Heh, run? Do you think you can escape?” Lin Xiao coldly watched the fleeing leader and his few subordinates.
With a powerful push off the ground, Lin Xiao chased in their direction like a gust of wind. They hadn’t even run fifty meters when he intercepted them.
The leader looked desperately at Lin Xiao, who had blocked his way. He hadn’t expected Lin Xiao’s speed to be so fast. He opened his mouth to say something but was cut off.
Lin Xiao had no intention of wasting more time. It was so late now, and little Yu must be worried at home. He wanted to get back sooner.
In the blink of an eye, the knees of the leader and his remaining subordinates were shattered by Lin Xiao’s kicks, and their bodies fell to the ground. The pain of their shattered knees caused them to writhe and scream on the ground.
Ignoring the screams, Lin Xiao kicked their guns away before walking toward Su Mengjia, who was still dumbfounded and hadn’t reacted yet.
“Officer Su, I’ll leave these people to you. You can handle it, right?” he asked calmly.
“You…” Looking at the composed Lin Xiao, Su Mengjia was momentarily at a loss for words. But in the end, she nodded, “I can.”
“Alright then, do with them as you see fit, Officer Su.”
“No problem.” Su Mengjia nodded, a determined look in her eyes.
“Well, I’ll leave first.” Without waiting for Su Mengjia’s reply, Lin Xiao turned around and prepared to leave.
“Wait… you… You’re just going to leave like this?” Seeing that Lin Xiao was planning to leave, Su Mengjia quickly called out.
Lin Xiao turned around, a hint of confusion in his eyes, and asked, “What? Is there something else?”
Looking at Lin Xiao’s expression, Su Mengjia felt the words she wanted to say were abruptly stifled within her.
‘He was just shot at, doesn’t he feel anything? How can he act so calm?’
Su Mengjia had served as a police officer in Yongnan District for several years, yet this was the first time she had faced such a dangerous and thrilling situation. Even knowing Lin Xiao might be a member of the Dragon Sword Squad, his unflustered appearance left her unsure of what to say.
But when she recalled Lin Xiao’s almost supernatural prowess, she found herself without the courage to question him further. She managed to squeeze out a faint smile.
“Thank you for what happened just now. And I misunderstood you last time. I formally apologize to you.”
“It’s fine,” Lin Xiao dismissed, waving his hand to indicate he didn’t take the matter to heart.
“That… could you… Can you leave a contact number?” Su Mengjia stammered, lowering her head and blushing, her voice barely above a whisper.
This was the first time she had ever asked a man for his contact information. Thankfully, there were no familiar faces around; otherwise, seeing Su Mengjia acting this way might make them question their sanity.
Being the captain of the Yongnan branch criminal police squad, she was renowned for her beauty and referred to as a police flower. Yet, Su Mengjia usually displayed a fiery temper and a straightforward personality, never acting demurely.
And now, she was blushing and speaking so softly.
“No problem,” Lin Xiao replied, fortunate that his keen hearing had allowed him to understand her words. He nodded and provided his mobile number.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way.”
“Mm.”
After Lin Xiao left, Su Mengjia tightly clutched her phone, her gaze fixed on his retreating figure, a blank look on her face. Her trance was soon shattered by the screams of the Hundred Seat Society members writhing on the ground, and she quickly snapped back to her normal, composed self.
With a cold glance at the screaming men on the ground, she pulled out her phone and dialed the police station.
“Hello, this is Su Mengjia. I’ve been attacked.”

Meanwhile, Lin Xiao was already driving his Rolls-Royce back to Yuan Yu’s house, unconcerned with the recent events.
To him, Su Mengjia was merely a stranger, and his prior misunderstanding with her had left a poor impression. Helping her had been a minor effort on his part.
Even if he had just saved a complete stranger, Lin Xiao would have acted the same way. What was on his mind now was the fact that it was getting late, and Yuan Yu must be anxious.
With this thought, he pressed on the accelerator, and about ten minutes later, arrived at the community where Yuan Yu resided. Parking the Rolls-Royce in the community’s lot, he made his way to the second floor, where Yuan Yu lived, and carefully opened the door.
As he’d expected, the hall lights were still on, and Yuan Yu was half-reclined on the sofa, looking weary. A pang of concern flashed in Lin Xiao’s eyes as he gently closed the door.
Suddenly, Yuan Yu, half-lying on the sofa, awoke with a start. Seeing Lin Xiao, who had entered the room, her eyes lit up with joy, and she quickly rose to her feet, exclaiming, “Big Brother Lin, you’re back.”
