Chapter 130: Shopping
by tinytreeAfter exiting the Brilliant Tower, Lin Xiao and Wan Caixuan climbed into their Rolls-Royce.
Seated at the wheel, Lin Xiao ignited the engine and glanced over at Wan Caixuan, asking, “Which mall are we heading to?”
With Wan Caixuan in the passenger seat, they were in close proximity. Lin Xiao could not only smell her intoxicating scent but also fully appreciate her flawless and delicate features.
Each encounter with Wan Caixuan left Lin Xiao awestruck, regardless of how many times he had seen her before. This had less to do with personal willpower and more to do with a natural response to overwhelming beauty.
“Let’s go to Longhua Mall,” Wan Caixuan suggested, reclining in her seat and closing her eyes. “Wake me when we arrive.”
“Understood.” Lin Xiao stepped on the gas, and the Rolls-Royce bolted from the parking lot like a bolt of blue lightning.
Lin Xiao was only partially familiar with Jinghai City’s geography, but he had heard of Longhua Mall. Known as the city’s most luxurious department store, It boasted an array of international brands, making it the go-to shopping destination for the affluent and famous.
Although the mall Lin Xiao visited yesterday was also high-end, it couldn’t hold a candle to Longhua Mall.
Given Wan Caixuan’s affluence and social standing, shopping at Longhua Mall was only fitting.
About an hour later, they reached their destination.
Lin Xiao parked the Rolls-Royce by the roadside and gently tapped Wan Caixuan’s shoulder. “President, we’ve arrived.”
Wan Caixuan slowly opened her eyes, covering a yawn with her hand, still seemingly groggy.
Her sleepy demeanor had its own enchanting quality, but no one was there to admire it, as Lin Xiao had already turned his gaze away.
For the past few days, Wan Caixuan hadn’t been sleeping well, often waking in the middle of the night. Oddly enough, she felt at ease when Lin Xiao was around. Though she had slept for just a little over half an hour, Wan Caixuan felt as rested as if she had enjoyed several hours of deep sleep.
Wan Caixuan remained seated for a moment, shaking off her lingering sleepiness. With casual motions, she adjusted her clothes and smoothed out her hair before opening the car door to step out.
Behind her, Lin Xiao followed in silence, a picture of professional diligence. As her bodyguard, he observed his responsibilities to the letter, never crossing any boundaries.
The moment Wan Caixuan alighted from the vehicle, she became the immediate focal point for all eyes around her.
Just a few steps away, a man walking toward her with his phone in hand found himself utterly speechless when his eyes met her face. Transfixed by her beauty, his phone slipped from his grasp, hitting the ground with a muted thud.
Incredibly, he made no move to retrieve the fallen device, his gaze remaining fixed on Wan Caixuan. His steps unconsciously slowed, as if he had been caught in a daze.
No one mocked him; they were equally captivated, after all.
For an instant, it was as if all ambient noise had vanished. When Wan Caixuan made her appearance, it felt as though time itself had paused to behold her.
Wan Caixuan’s brows knitted together. Despite not being nervous, she found the crowd’s fascinated attention deeply unsettling.
She was no stranger to such stares, having experienced them every time she set foot outside since she was young. With an icy expression, she navigated through the throng of people and proceeded directly into Longhua Mall.
Only when her figure disappeared from view did the onlookers snap back to reality.
“Did you see that? An actual goddess,” a man, unable to contain his excitement, yelled to his friend.
“Absolutely, a genuine goddess,” his friend responded, equally thrilled. “She’s leagues beyond those self-proclaimed goddesses online. In comparison, every celebrity and influencer seems trivial. She is the real deal!”
“You said it. I never thought a woman could be so stunningly beautiful. And look at her clothes and accessories, she’s the epitome of beauty and wealth,” chimed in a stranger.
Another person was filled with regret, lamenting, “Why didn’t I think to take a picture?”
Upon entering Longhua Mall, the gazes following Wan Caixuan lessened noticeably compared to the streets. She let out a nearly imperceptible sigh of relief and slowed her stride.
Lin Xiao, trailing behind her, also adjusted his pace. His eyes quickly scanned every corner of the mall, taking mere seconds to understand its layout.
Then, Wan Caixuan embarked on her shopping spree.
Fortunately, Wan Caixuan’s approach to shopping was a sharp contrast to Huang Xinyu’s. When she saw something she liked, she didn’t haggle, she simply swiped her card and paid, spending millions in one fell swoop without so much as a frown.
Despite her decisiveness, Lin Xiao couldn’t help but feel mentally drained. This wasn’t a matter of physical fatigue, it was emotional exhaustion.
Truly, accompanying a woman on a shopping spree is the most taxing endeavor in the world.
As the day wore on, Lin Xiao found himself burdened with an increasing number of shopping bags, amassing well over a dozen. Just when he thought he couldn’t carry another, Wan Caixuan finally came to a halt in front of a men’s clothing store.
She gave Lin Xiao a scrutinizing once-over and spoke her first words since their shopping expedition began, “Come in with me.”
Lin Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, the ordeal was over.
Realizing that Wan Caixuan was planning to shop for him, Lin Xiao dutifully followed her into the men’s clothing store.
Upon entering, a striking sales clerk greeted them with a professionally warm smile. But as soon as she laid eyes on Wan Caixuan, her smile froze, and her demeanor became visibly anxious. She stuttered, “Mi– Miss, welcome, welcome to our store.”
Her reaction was consistent with those of the clerks they’d encountered before, if not a bit better. Some male clerks were so captivated by Wan Caixuan’s breathtaking beauty that they had been rendered speechless.
Wan Caixuan offered the clerk a curt nod and proceeded to peruse the store’s offerings. Meanwhile, Lin Xiao, laden with an army of shopping bags, stood by the entrance, quietly waiting.
As if compelled by a magnetic force, the other customers in the store found themselves pausing mid-action, their attention involuntarily shifting toward Wan Caixuan. Yet, no one dared to openly stare or approach her, as she exuded an aura of aloofness and untouchability.
Gathering her courage, the sales clerk finally ventured, “Miss, may I ask what you’re looking to purchase?”
“It’s not for me, it’s for him,” Wan Caixuan clarified, extending her slender finger to point in Lin Xiao’s direction. “Do you have a suit that would fit him?”
In response to her gesture, every eye in the store swiveled almost in unison toward Lin Xiao.
