“Hello, Mr. Li, my name is Lin Xiao.” Lin Xiao reached out to shake hands with Li Liancheng, his words sparing.

His hand was bandaged, which might have surprised anyone else, but Li Liancheng didn’t show any reaction as if he hadn’t noticed, maintaining a friendly demeanor, “Mr. Lin, I must say, you’re quite fortunate.”

Lin Xiao was puzzled and glanced at Wan Caixuan, who was also looking at him.

After a brief exchange of looks, they both diverted their gaze.

“Brother Li, who might this distinguished gentleman and lady be? Could you introduce us?” A booming voice suddenly interrupted from the side.

The speaker was a tall, imposing man in his thirties with a commanding presence. He approached Li Liancheng, eyeing Wan Caixuan with admiration.

Li Liancheng subtly frowned, clearly displeased by the interruption of his conversation with Wan Caixuan, but considering the interloper’s significant background, he couldn’t simply ignore him.

“Mr. Fu, this is Ms. Wan Caixuan, the CEO of Brilliant Aya Limited,” Li Liancheng stepped aside to make the introduction, “Ms. Wan, this is Mr. Fu Feifeng, the Chairman of Summit Group.”

The Summit Group, a major trade conglomerate in Jinghai City, owned numerous supermarkets, malls, and shopping plazas, standing as one of the city’s leading enterprises.

For instance, the Longhua Mall, where Lin Xiao and Wan Caixuan had shopped for a suit was one of Summit Group’s properties.

Fu Feifeng, eyes alight, never strayed from Wan Caixuan’s face, extending a hand warmly, “Ms. Wan, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve long been familiar with the esteemed reputation of Brilliant Aya Limited. I’m confident we’ll find many opportunities for collaboration in the future.”

Wan Caixuan remained aloof, glancing briefly at Fu Feifeng with her eyes as clear as autumn waters before shifting her gaze away, allowing his outstretched hand to hang awkwardly in the air.

Fu Feifeng’s face clouded over, his expression turning dark as a hint of anger flickered in his eyes. “Ms. Wan, what do you mean by this? Do you look down on me, Fu Feifeng?”

Li Liancheng hastily intervened, aiming to defuse the tension. “Mr. Fu, please, don’t be upset. Ms. Wan is always like this. She didn’t shake hands with me either just now. Please, be understanding.”

Li Liancheng’s attempt to pacify Fu Feifeng slightly eased his expression, but Wan Caixuan grew even colder.

What status did she hold? She was one of the direct heirs of the Wan family. And Fu Feifeng? Merely a businessman tainted with the smell of money.

Li Liancheng placing her on the same level as Fu Feifeng was an insult to her. She had agreed to attend this charity dinner mainly because Li Liancheng, the wealthiest man in Jinghai City, had personally called her to discuss certain matters with her.

Now, Wan Caixuan was beginning to question her decision to attend, wondering if it had been wise after all.

Li Liancheng and Fu Feifeng were oblivious to Wan Caixuan’s inner turmoil, but Lin Xiao noticed her discomfort as her body tensed ever so slightly.

Despite being subtly rebuffed by Wan Caixuan, Fu Feifeng wasn’t ready to give up. The beauty before him was too enchanting, compelling any man to brave all for her.

“Ms. Wan, if you’re reluctant to shake hands, that’s fine. How about we sit down over there and discuss some potential collaborations?”

Fu Feifeng’s attention was solely on Wan Caixuan, effectively rendering Lin Xiao, standing right beside her, as nothing more than a backdrop.

Faced with Fu Feifeng’s relentless approach, Wan Caixuan’s patience finally wore thin.

Especially those squinting eyes, which she utterly despised.

Wan Caixuan leaned in to whisper in Lin Xiao’s ear, “Make him leave.”

Her loathing and disdain for Fu Feifeng were so evident that she didn’t bother to address him directly.

Lin Xiao subtly nodded in acknowledgment, then stepped forward, positioning himself in front of Wan Caixuan and effectively blocking Fu Feifeng’s view.

“Mr. Fu, my companion has a message for you.”

“What message?” Fu Feifeng, only just noticing Lin Xiao’s presence, asked instinctively.

“Get lost,” Lin Xiao articulated each word with clarity and emphasis.

Upon hearing these dismissive words, not just Fu Feifeng’s face changed, but Li Liancheng’s as well.

Li Liancheng discreetly stepped back. Knowing of Wan Caixuan’s true identity prompted a sudden outbreak of cold sweat.

Wan Caixuan wasn’t merely a businesswoman like them, she was a direct heir of the prestigious Wan family.

In terms of heritage and social standing, she was unparalleled. Fu Feifeng’s audacious attempt to approach Wan Caixuan was akin to seeking his own demise. Li Liancheng had no interest in being collateral damage.

    “What did you say?”

The anger within Fu Feifeng ignited, his fury redirected towards Lin Xiao since Wan Caixuan was out of his sight, “Young man, do you even realize who I am? How dare you speak to me like that?”

“I’m well aware of who you are. But the question is, do you know who we are?” Lin Xiao replied with a calm detachment.

“Who cares where you two came from?” Fu Feifeng retorted with a disdainful snort before turning back to Wan Caixuan, “Ms. Wan, a word of advice. The world isn’t as simple as you might think. Be careful, or you might find it challenging to maintain your footing in Jinghai City.”

After finishing his words, Fu Feifeng shot Lin Xiao a fierce glare and turned to leave.

Wan Caixuan tugged at Lin Xiao’s sleeve and whispered something in his ear.

“Hold it,” Lin Xiao’s eyes flashed as he commanded.

“Do you have anything else to say?” Fu Feifeng turned around, his cold sneer evident, “Kid, if you’re thinking of apologizing, forget it. I, Fu Feifeng, am not someone who gets bullied easily.”

Before Fu Feifeng could finish his sentence, Lin Xiao had already raised his hand and delivered a slap across his face.

The sound of the slap reverberated throughout the banquet hall.

Fu Feifeng was dumbfounded, as were Li Liancheng and all the other guests present.

The turn of events caught everyone off guard.

No one expected this seemingly young man to dare slap Fu Feifeng’s face in such a public setting.

    Who was Fu Feifeng?

He was the chairman of the Summit Group, a prominent figure in Jinghai City with the power to influence the entire area. His economic influence rivaled that of Li Liancheng, the city’s wealthiest man.

Yet, this very influential individual had just received a slap, leaving five vivid red finger marks on his left cheek.

After a moment of stunned silence, the banquet hall burst into uproar.

    “What happened here?”

“Did Mr. Fu really get hit?”

“Is this kid looking for death? How dare he treat Mr. Fu that way!” a man with close ties to Fu Feifeng exclaimed angrily.

Meanwhile, an onlooker who was no fan of Fu Feifeng said gleefully, “This is intriguing, truly intriguing. That young man has quite the audacity. I’m eager to see how Fu Feifeng will resolve this.”
