Chapter 201: No Match for Me
by tinytreeHowever, their efforts were futile, merely the final struggles before death.
Lin Xiao effortlessly disposed of the remaining mercenaries, nonchalantly dropping the last mercenary’s body. He then turned to look at Wan Shixuan, his gaze imbued with an indescribable indifference.
Seeing more than ten battle-hardened mercenaries easily killed by Lin Xiao, Wan Shixuan’s expression finally changed. He realized that he might have severely underestimated Lin Xiao.
Originally, he had thought that, even if Lin Xiao was skilled, he couldn’t possibly be a match for more than ten fully armed mercenaries, especially when unarmed. However, reality proved him wrong, terribly wrong
Those who had never witnessed Lin Xiao’s capabilities could hardly fathom his prowess.
Lin Xiao’s movements were ghost-like, effortlessly harvesting his enemies as if strolling through a garden.
Under Lin Xiao’s indifferent gaze, a hint of fear stirred within Wan Shixuan.
But this flicker of fear was soon overshadowed by embarrassment and anger.
Who was he? One of the heirs of the imperial Wan family. Born a cut above the rest, he had always been the one others feared. When had he ever feared someone else?
“Uncle Wang, deal with this man. Kill him,” Wan Shixuan commanded in a low, harsh tone.
“Don’t worry, young master, leave it to me,” Uncle Wang said calmly, nodding. “Please step back for now. This young man is not easy to handle, I might need to exert my full strength.”
Wan Shixuan had immense trust in Uncle Wang. Upon hearing this, he immediately moved behind the sofa, not uttering another word. He was utterly confident in Uncle Wang. Regardless of how formidable Lin Xiao seemed, he could not possibly best Uncle Wang.
Uncle Wang’s real name was Wang Qi. Though he dressed as a butler, he was not really Wan Shixuan’s butler but a highly skilled protector sent by Wan Shixuan’s mother.
Unlike Wan Caixuan, who was also an heir to the Wan family, Wan Caixuan’s mother was just a commoner with no significant influence. Therefore, she had to rely on herself, facing inherent disadvantages among the heirs. Fortunately, Wan Caixuan was adept at management and had a few supporters within the Wan family. Otherwise, she might have already been ousted from her position as an heir.
Wan Shixuan was different. His mother hailed from a prominent family with substantial influence and was also from a family of ancient martial artists.
Wang Qi belonged to Wan Shixuan’s mother’s family.
This was why Wang Qi, an expert with mastery of Dark Force, served as Wan Shixuan’s butler and protector. Otherwise, with his skills, he could choose to go anywhere in the world. Why would he settle for being a bodyguard to a family scion?
Ancient martial artists with mastery of Dark Force, although not as transcendent as those with mastery of Flowing Force, were still considered masters. Any power would hesitate before treating them with disrespect.
“Ensure the young master’s safety,” Wang Qi instructed the woman standing beside him, then advanced with firm, powerful steps to stop three meters in front of Lin Xiao.
“Young man, you are quite skilled, but it’s a pity.”
He shook his head as he spoke, his tone full of regret.
“A pity for what?” Lin Xiao asked.
Having dealt with the lesser threats, he didn’t mind exchanging a few words with Wang Qi to see what Wan Shixuan’s next move might be.
“A pity that I’m going to have to kill you soon.” Wang Qi said, examining Lin Xiao from head to toe, his voice calm but laden with a thick undercurrent of murderous intent. “It’s not my desire to snuff out a young talent by my own hands, but since you’ve meddled with people you shouldn’t have, I can only say it’s a pity.”
Despite his killing intent, he still put on an act of sorrow and compassion. His sanctimonious tone nearly made Lin Xiao feel sick.
“Are you so certain you can kill me?” Lin Xiao asked, his voice cool.
“It’s a pity you’re up against me. I know you’re also an ancient martial artist, but you’re no match for me.”
Wang Qi stood with his arms crossed in front of him, his chin slightly lifted, giving Lin Xiao a sidelong glance. He had already discerned from Lin Xiao’s earlier actions that he was an accomplished ancient martial artist.
However, he wasn’t worried in the slightest, such was his confidence in his own mastery of Dark Force.
“There are levels among ancient martial artists. For your age, achieving this level is impressive, but that’s all there is to it. You might manage against ordinary practitioners, but against a true master, you’d falter.”
“Is that so?” Lin Xiao’s face bore an indifferent smile, tinged with mockery and disdain. “Big talk is easy, but how many can actually back it up? Go ahead, show me how you plan to kill me.”
Wang Qi’s cheek twitched in irritation at Lin Xiao’s expression, and his gaze turned icy.
“I initially thought to let you live a bit longer, but since you’re so eager to die, I’ll grant your wish.”
No sooner had he spoken than Wang Qi lunged forward, attacking Lin Xiao without warning.
In the blink of an eye, Wang Qi had covered the three-meter distance. He suddenly appeared in front of Lin Xiao, his hands curved slightly like tiger claws, viciously reaching for Lin Xiao’s chest.
Wang Qi truly lived up to his reputation as a master of Dark Force. Even though his approach was almost predatory, the strength of his attack was formidable.
Not just formidable, but terrifyingly so.
His claw-like hands, muscles tensed and nails protruding, veins bulging as if transformed into real tiger claws, whipped up a ferocious wind aimed at ripping out Lin Xiao’s heart.
Any ordinary Dark Force master would likely suffer greatly under such a strike.
But he was facing Lin Xiao.
Lin Xiao was slightly taken aback that a Dark Force master would launch such a sudden, unannounced attack. He found it somewhat dishonorable.
Yet, Lin Xiao remained composed. He quickly sidestepped, moving several feet away to dodge Wang Qi’s claw attack. At the same time, he clenched his left fist and aimed a powerful punch at Wang Qi’s head.
With Lin Xiao’s strength, if this punch connected, even if Wang Qi’s head were made of stone, it would shatter into pieces.
Wang Qi snorted coldly and converted his claw into a fist, meeting Lin Xiao’s punch head-on.
The collision of their fists produced a loud boom, like two giant hammers striking each other. The contact generated a strong gust of wind around them.
Wang Qi was forced to take three steps back to stabilize himself, while Lin Xiao stood calm and unmoved.
Witnessing Lin Xiao’s steadiness, Wang Qi’s eyes narrowed, a flicker of surprise crossing his face, and his expression grew serious as his initial disdain for Lin Xiao vanished. Though he hadn’t used his full strength, the force was more than enough for ordinary martial artists, yet Lin Xiao had not only withstood it but had also clearly gained the upper hand.
Wang Qi moved the hand that had collided with Lin Xiao’s behind his back, flexing it repeatedly to ease the numbness and pain that lingered for several seconds.
During the collision, Wang Qi felt as though he had struck an iron plate. Lin Xiao’s power was immense, his fists incredibly solid, surpassing any opponent Wang Qi had ever faced.
“It seems I must go all out now, otherwise, there’s a real chance I could capsize in the gutter.”
