Chapter 236: Dog Eat Dog
by tinytreeNing Xi’s eyes lit up upon hearing Le Fangyun’s confession.
“Ning Xi, I hope your company can handle this issue promptly. Otherwise, Yuanfang Group will no longer cooperate with Brilliant Aya,” Le Zhenglan said to Ning Xi.
“Don’t worry, Ms. Le. We will definitely handle this properly,” Ning Xi said, trying to suppress her joy.
Le Zhenglan nodded. With her experience, she could tell that Ning Xi and Lu Pengbo were not on good terms. Since Ning Xi was Lin Xiao’s friend, she brought up this issue to create an opportunity for Ning Xi.
The group then left the room, leaving behind the slumped Le Fangyun, the despondent Lu Pengbo, and his secretary.
Lu Pengbo could no longer contain his rage. He glared at Le Fangyun and shouted, “Are you crazy? After all the benefits you took from me, you dare to betray me?”
Seeing Lu Pengbo’s murderous expression and recalling his previous obsequiousness, combined with the imbalance and pent-up anger, Le Fangyun finally exploded.
He suddenly lunged at Lu Pengbo, biting his arm, “I’ve lost everything, so I’ll make sure you don’t get away with it either!”
“Ahhh!” Lu Pengbo screamed in pain. He then bit back at Le Fangyun in a frenzy, “You’re looking for death! You useless piece of trash, you deserve this!”
“I’ll kill you…”
“Ahh… Secretary Wang, get this lunatic off me…”
“Mr. Lu…”
The room turned into chaos as the two men fought like rabid dogs. Lin Xiao and the others were unaware of the pandemonium behind them.
After leaving the room, Le Zhenglan’s brother, Le Zhengsheng, apologized to Lin Xiao with a face full of guilt, “I’m really sorry. It’s my fault for not seeing through him.”
“It’s fine,” Lin Xiao shook his head.
This matter had nothing to do with Le Zhengsheng. He was entirely unaware.
“Thank you.”
Seeing Lin Xiao’s unconcerned demeanor, Le Zhengsheng breathed a sigh of relief. He was about to continue speaking when his phone suddenly rang, interrupting him.
Le Zhengsheng took out his phone and answered the call. His expression quickly changed, and after hanging up, he looked at Lin Xiao apologetically. “I’m really sorry, I was supposed to treat you to a meal, but an emergency has come up and I need to be there immediately. I apologize.”
“It’s fine, business is important,” Lin Xiao said, shaking his head.
“Alright, I promise I’ll thank you properly next time.”
With that, Le Zhengsheng hurriedly left the hotel. Le Zhenglan also drove him to the emergency, leaving just Lin Xiao and Ning Xi behind.
“Let’s go,” Lin Xiao said, watching the Le siblings leave.
But soon he noticed Ning Xi leaning in close, her eyes filled with curiosity and inquiry.
Seeing Ning Xi’s face so close and catching a glimpse of her ample chest, Lin Xiao took a step back and asked, “What is it? Do you have something to ask?”
“Nothing really, I just want to know who you are that even the eldest daughter of the Le family knows you.”
“The eldest daughter of the Le family?” Lin Xiao asked, raising an eyebrow.
“You don’t know? President Le is the eldest daughter of the Le family in the capital. Their influence is on par with our Miss Wan’s family.”
“Is that so?” Lin Xiao’s expression remained unchanged. Le Zhenglan’s identity didn’t faze him.
To him, it didn’t matter what Le Zhenglan’s status was.
Ning Xi, seeing Lin Xiao’s calm demeanor, felt a bit frustrated. After all, Le Fangyun, just by using the Le family’s name, was considered a top young master in Jinghai City. Yet Lin Xiao, who knew the actual eldest daughter of the Le family and was the savior of Le Zhengsheng, a rising star, remained indifferent. If Lin Xiao wanted, he could leverage the Le family’s influence and dominate Jinghai City, surpassing even Le Fangyun.
But then she thought of her own Miss Wan’s significant family background and influence, which wasn’t any less than the Le family’s. Lin Xiao had also saved her multiple times, but never seemed to care or ask for anything in return.
“Alright, alright, I won’t nag you,” Ning Xi said, waving her hand dismissively.
Lin Xiao didn’t mind her words and said, “Let me take you home.”
“No need, I’m fine. Besides, it’s late. I can get back on my own,” Ning Xi shook her head and declined.
Seeing Ning Xi’s determined expression, Lin Xiao could only nod, “Alright, take care of yourself then.”
“Don’t worry.” Ning Xi smiled, then with a hint of gratitude, she added, “Thank you for today. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what would have happened.”
“It’s nothing.” Lin Xiao replied calmly.
“Goodbye then.”
“Yeah.”
The two then parted ways.
After leaving Distant Restaurant, Lin Xiao checked the time. It was almost ten o’clock. With no more buses heading to Yongnan District, he decided to hail a taxi to Yuan Yu’s house. As he waited for a taxi, the idea of buying a car became even stronger in his mind. It was really inconvenient without one.
Meanwhile, Ning Xi drove home. Once there, she lazily flopped onto the sofa, thinking about everything that had happened that evening. She couldn’t help but become a bit lost in thought.
But she didn’t lie there for long. Suddenly, she seemed to remember something, jumped up from the sofa, and pulled out her phone to make a call.
“Hello, Miss?” Ning Xi’s voice was filled with excitement when the call connected.
On the other end, Wan Caixuan’s cool voice responded, “Yes, what is it?”
“Miss, I went to see the person in charge of the Distant Group’s sales channels today. You’ll never believe what happened!”
“What happened?” Wan Caixuan asked, her curiosity piqued.
She knew Ning Xi wouldn’t joke about business matters.
“Well, it went like this…” Ning Xi then recounted everything that had happened that evening, “Miss, you wouldn’t believe it. It had me going from extreme despair to great joy.”
After listening to Ning Xi’s account, Wan Caixuan was silent for a moment.
“Next time, don’t go alone. Be mindful of your safety and at least inform me before you go.”
“Understood, Miss,” Ning Xi replied.
“By the way, Miss, this is our chance to completely uproot Lu Pengbo’s influence in the company.”
“Yes, I know. We’ll start taking action tomorrow.”
“Okay, Miss!”
At Jiangnan Floral Estates, inside the villa.
After hanging up the phone, Wan Caixuan seemed a bit lost in thought. She unconsciously touched her phone’s contact list, pausing on Lin Xiao’s name. She sighed but ultimately decided not to call him.
