Chapter 242: We Are Young Master Le’s People!
by tinytreeAt this moment, Young Master Fan believed he had seen through Lin Xiao’s intentions.
‘He’s just a pretty boy living off a girl’s money, planning to have the young lady next to him pay for the car, huh? You think I can’t see that?’
Feeling triumphant with this revelation, Fan whispered his discovery to his two companions. Young Master Li and Young Master Wang nodded in understanding.
“Of course, I’ll bet with you,” Lin Xiao said with a cold smile. “The loser has to crawl out of here all the way to the entrance. Deal?”
Lin Xiao’s calm demeanor only made the three rich kids more uncertain.
Among the crowd, those who knew the three young masters started urging them on.
“Young Master Wang, what are you hesitating for? This guy clearly isn’t rich; he’s bluffing!”
“Young Master Li, don’t be scared. Take the bet!”
Encouraged by the crowd, the three young masters finally made up their minds. Fan took a deep breath and gritted his teeth, “Alright, we’ll bet with you! But let’s be clear, you have to pay the full eight million. Not a penny less, and no down payment.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not like you. I don’t talk big.” With the bet settled, Lin Xiao ignored the three rich kids and turned to the manager. “The price for this Cayenne is eight million, right?”
The manager’s face broke into a smile, and he nodded repeatedly. “Yes, it’s eight million.”
“I’ll buy it.” Lin Xiao pulled out a black bank card from his pocket, holding it between two fingers and handing it to the manager. “Swipe it.”
The manager took the card with both hands and, under everyone’s gaze, carefully swiped it on the POS machine before handing it to Lin Xiao to enter his PIN.
Without hesitation, Lin Xiao entered the code.
Throughout the process, the three rich kids stared intensely at Lin Xiao’s hand. They feared he might try to trick them. But even after the transaction was completed, they saw no signs of deception.
The manager handed the bank card back to Lin Xiao with noticeably more respect in his voice.
“Mr. Lin, the payment was successful. All eight hundred thousand have been credited. This car is now yours.”
Manager Cheng’s words hit like a bombshell. The three rich kids were ashen-faced and utterly deflated. The onlookers were equally stunned into silence. No one had expected that Lin Xiao could actually afford an SUV worth eight million.
The shock wasn’t just about Lin Xiao having money, but about the stark contrast in perceptions. It was as if they had been mocking a pig, only to realize it was actually a tiger.
They couldn’t understand why, if Lin Xiao was so wealthy, he dressed so plainly.
Was it that hard to buy a nicer outfit? Even if he was trying to stay under the radar, there should be a limit.
What they didn’t realize was that to Lin Xiao, money was just numbers. He wasn’t buying the car to show off but to fulfill Yuan Yong’s dream.
Even Yuan Yu and Huang Caixing were taken aback by Lin Xiao’s lavish spending. Huang Caixing had been ready to pay for Lin Xiao herself, having a gold credit card with a limit exceeding ten million.
‘Where did Big Brother Lin get so much money?’
Yuan Yu knew Lin Xiao had won some money from the last race, but it was only a few million, most of which had gone to her mother’s medical bills. And Huang Caixing was even more in the dark.
So, both had the same question in mind.
But this wasn’t the right time to ask. They had to suppress their curiosity and wait to ask Lin Xiao in private.
Seeing the dumbfounded expressions on the faces of the three rich kids and the surrounding crowd, Huang Caixing felt immense satisfaction, like eating a whole tub of ice cream on a hot summer day.
“I don’t believe it. How could this guy be so rich?” Young Master Wang stared at the bank card in Lin Xiao’s hand, his eyes reddening with disbelief.
The other two were just as stunned, their eyes vacant and minds reeling.
The very person they had once looked down on turned out to be wealthier than all of them—a brutal blow to their pride.
It wasn’t Lin Xiao who had overestimated himself. It was them. Especially considering they had foolishly made a bet with Lin Xiao, they couldn’t help but wish they could dig a hole and disappear.
How embarrassing!
“I’ve fulfilled my end of the bet and bought the car. Now it’s your turn.”
Lin Xiao put away his bank card, his cold gaze sweeping over the three rich kids. “Crawl out.”
“Don’t push it too far! Let me tell you, do you know Young Master Le? We work for him. Let’s just pretend this never happened. Otherwise, not just anyone can disregard his reputation,” Wang Shao stepped forward, his face full of threats.
“Yeah, we work for Young Master Le. You should know the last name of the mayor of Jinghai, right? Young Master Le is Mayor Le’s nephew,” Young Master Li and Young Master Fan quickly chimed in.
“Young Master Le?”
Lin Xiao was a bit confused at first, but quickly realized they were talking about Le Fangyun. However, these three seemed out of the loop and didn’t know Le Fangyun had already fallen.
“Is that so? What if I don’t care about his reputation?” Lin Xiao’s face remained impassive, but his voice carried a chilling tone.
“Fine, fine. Just you wait. If you dare disrespect Young Master Le, you’re done for. No one in Jinghai can save you.”
The three rich kids were furious, glaring at Lin Xiao. They had no idea that their supposed backer, Young Master Le, had already fallen, and it was because of Lin Xiao.
Lin Xiao didn’t bother with further words, his face cold.
“You started this, you picked the fight, and now you can’t take a loss? A bet is a bet. Don’t be sore losers, or I won’t be polite.”
“What bet? We were just joking.”
“Yeah, seriously, can’t even take a joke.”
Seeing that Lin Xiao genuinely didn’t care about Young Master Le, the three rich kids exchanged nervous glances and began to back away, deciding to deny the bet.
Are you kidding? Crawling out in front of everyone would ruin their reputations.
Meanwhile, they planned to have Young Master Le teach Lin Xiao a lesson once they left the 4S shop.
Their retreat drew a wave of boos from the crowd, who found their actions contemptible.
“I advise you not to run. The consequences will be severe,” Lin Xiao said calmly.
“I’ll run if I want. What can you do about it?” Young Master Wang gave Lin Xiao the middle finger and turned to flee.
