Chapter 245: Discussions
by tinytreeHuang Caixing’s residential area wasn’t far from the hospital. About ten minutes later, a brand-new Porsche Cayenne drove into the neighborhood where Huang Caixing lived. The car parked in front of an apartment building, and the doors opened to reveal a man and two young women.
“Big Brother Lin, come on!” Huang Caixing called, pulling Yuan Yu towards the building, then turning back to wave at Lin Xiao.
Lin Xiao quickened his pace, following the two girls.
They took the elevator to Huang Caixing’s apartment. Despite there being a doorbell, Huang Caixing knocked on the door enthusiastically, her face beaming with excitement.
The security door opened, revealing Huang Xinyu’s beautiful face. She seemed a bit surprised to see Lin Xiao arrive so quickly.
“How did you get here so fast?”
“Because Big Brother Lin drives fast,” Huang Caixing replied as she entered the apartment, kicked off her shoes, and put on a pair of cute cartoon slippers. She found a similar pair for Yuan Yu.
“Mom, guess what? Big Brother Lin bought a really nice car!”
“What kind of car?” Huang Xinyu asked as she crouched down and pulled out a pair of men’s slippers from the shoe cabinet. “Lin Xiao, wear these. I bought them for you today.”
As she said this, Huang Xinyu felt a strange sensation. It was the first time in a long while that there was something in the house meant for a man.
“Thanks, Auntie.” Lin Xiao thanked her, putting on the slippers.
He had no idea about the complexity of Huang Xinyu’s thoughts, only feeling that she was very considerate.
Standing close to him, Huang Xinyu was less than two feet away. Lin Xiao could smell her faint fragrance and, with a slight tilt of his head, could see the expanse of her fair skin.
Feeling a bit awkward, Lin Xiao averted his eyes.
Huang Xinyu, however, seemed unaware, her face full of curiosity. “Lin Xiao, what car did you buy?”
“A Porsche Cayenne,” Lin Xiao said calmly, without any hint of boasting.
Given Huang Xinyu’s own Bentley, he didn’t see anything to brag about.
“A Cayenne, that’s pretty nice,” Huang Xinyu nodded, leading Lin Xiao into the living room. “How much did it cost?”
“Eight million.”
Huang Xinyu abruptly stopped and turned to look directly at Lin Xiao, her eyes filled with confusion.
“Do you realize this price is several times that of a standard Cayenne?” she asked.
“Of course, we know,” Huang Caixing chimed in, “but Big Brother Lin bought the top-tier model. I think it’s comparable to your Ferrari, Mom.”
“As long as you didn’t get ripped off,” Huang Xinyu said, giving Lin Xiao a deep look before suddenly breaking into a smile, dimples appearing on her cheeks. “Let’s not talk about this boring topic anymore. Sit down, and I’ll let you taste my cooking soon.”
Lin Xiao returned her smile and sat down on the sofa. Yuan Yu, always well-behaved, sat next to him.
Although it wasn’t her first time at Huang Caixing’s house, Yuan Yu still appeared a bit reserved, not out of nervousness, but because of her naturally gentle disposition.
Huang Caixing leaned back and sighed contentedly, almost as if her bones had melted away, her voice becoming languid.
“Big Brother Lin, don’t get your hopes too high about my mom’s cooking. She hasn’t cooked in a long time.”
“I can help Auntie,” Yuan Yu said as she stood up to head towards the kitchen.
Just then, Huang Xinyu peeked out from the kitchen, looking slightly embarrassed. “Caixing, Yuan Yu, could you two go to the market and buy some groceries?”
As a prominent businesswoman and the owner of a large company, Huang Xinyu hadn’t been in the kitchen for a long time. She had just opened the fridge and found it empty.
Huang Caixing rolled her eyes, as if she had expected this. Without thinking, she said, “I’m not going. I just got back and I’m exhausted.”
“Auntie, I’ll go. Just tell me where the market is,” Yuan Yu offered, her practicality shining through, contrasting sharply with Huang Caixing’s more carefree attitude.
“It’s okay, I’ll go myself,” Huang Xinyu said, taking off her apron and putting on high heels, ready to leave. “You all stay and rest. I’ll be back soon.”
“I’ll go with you,” Lin Xiao said, standing up from the sofa and walking over to her.
Huang Xinyu hesitated for a moment but ultimately did not refuse Lin Xiao’s kindness and went out with him. The two walked side by side out of the apartment building. Huang Xinyu’s foot injury had not completely healed, so she walked very slowly. As she walked, her shapely hips swayed with her waist, looking particularly enticing.
As a well-known celebrity entrepreneur and an incredibly beautiful woman, many people in the neighborhood recognized Huang Xinyu. Whenever they passed by, they greeted her warmly.
Huang Xinyu responded to each greeting with a smile, her demeanor impeccable.
After greeting her, many people cast curious glances at Lin Xiao, speculating about his identity and his relationship with Huang Xinyu.
“Did you see the young man beside Ms. Huang?”
“My eyes work just fine, of course I saw him.”
“What do you think their relationship is?”
“What else could it be? Ms. Huang is such a great woman, she deserves to have a man in her life. She can’t stay single forever, right? Although that guy looks ordinary, he’s got a good physique. He must be good in… well, you know…”
“You mean…”
“Ahem, I didn’t say anything. Why are you so nosy? Other people’s private matters are none of our business.”
The group of people whispered amongst themselves as they walked away.
Huang Xinyu was unaware of the gossip behind her, but Lin Xiao, with his keen hearing, caught every word. Though he remained expressionless, he felt slightly awkward.
He and Huang Xinyu were not involved, but the way people talked made it seem otherwise.
After walking for a while, Huang Xinyu felt tired and naturally linked her arm with Lin Xiao’s, leaning half her body against him.
From Huang Xinyu’s perspective, since Lin Xiao had carried her before and even saved her life, being a bit closer was no big deal.
However, others didn’t see it that way.
The neighborhood was bustling with people, but most of the attention was on Huang Xinyu and Lin Xiao. Slowly, Huang Xinyu noticed the unusual amount of stares and her face turned slightly red. She quietly released Lin Xiao’s arm and stood up straight.
It wasn’t until they left the neighborhood and reached the street that Huang Xinyu let out a sigh of relief.
Noticing the look of relief on her face, Lin Xiao couldn’t help but smile and said, “Auntie Xin, you seemed a bit nervous?”
Huang Xinyu gave Lin Xiao a sidelong glance, unintentionally showing an incredibly captivating charm.
“Are you pretending to be clueless? Don’t tell me you didn’t hear their gossip.”
“I heard it, but what do other people’s opinions and looks have to do with me?”
“If only I could be as carefree as you.” Huang Xinyu sighed softly, her beautiful face showing a touch of melancholy. “I really wish I could ignore what others think, but there are times when I can’t. Reputation can be such a burden.”
