Chapter 260: Simply Impossible
by tinytreeAmidst the flying debris, a figure stepped into the Chen Martial Hall.
The Golden Claw Sect students were highly alert. They reacted instantly to the sound of the doors shattering. All at once, dozens of sharp gazes turned toward the person entering through the broken door.
Duan Fei also halted his approach toward Chen Lingxin. He cast a cold, murderous glance toward the entrance.
He was curious to see which fool had dared to interrupt the Golden Claw Sect.
The person who walked into the hall appeared to be quite young, around twenty years old. His appearance was ordinary, with a well-proportioned physique. However, his eyes were calm and unfathomable, like the depths of an ocean.
As his gaze swept across the martial hall, his face remained expressionless. Yet, the people inside felt a sudden chill, especially the Golden Claw Sect students closest to the door. They shivered involuntarily, as if an icy wind had just blown through.
“Master!”
Chen Lingxin, who had tried to stay calm, was suddenly emotional upon seeing Lin Xiao enter. Her eyes reddened, tears threatening to fall.
Over the past period, Chen’s Martial Arts Hall had faced a series of relentless troubles.
First, they were challenged by Jiang Linfeng during their anniversary celebration, and then the Golden Claw Sect came to force them into submission.
Even someone as strong-willed as Chen Lingxin had started to feel utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally.
Lin Xiao’s arrival was like a ray of sunlight breaking through dark clouds or a sturdy tree offering shelter in a storm. His presence filled her with warmth and hope.
“Master Lin!”
“Master Lin, you’re finally here!”
“Master Lin, these people are too vicious! You have to avenge us!”
The students of the Chen Martial Hall who could still speak shouted excitedly upon seeing Lin Xiao. Some even cried out in relief.
Many of the students were so severely injured that they could barely form words, their faces covered in blood. They could only let out muffled sounds, but their eyes gleamed with hope and joy.
To the students of the Chen Martial Hall, Lin Xiao was like a divine figure, their protector and savior.
They could never forget how Lin Xiao had stepped up and turned the tide when the Chen Martial Hall was in danger.
Lin Xiao’s expression was cold as iron. There was a storm brewing in his gaze.
Though he was usually composed, rarely showing his emotions, the sight of the beaten Chen’s martial students ignited an overwhelming fury within him.
In some ways, these students were caught up in this because of him.
If he hadn’t crippled Jiang Linfeng’s cultivation, the Golden Claw Sect wouldn’t have come seeking revenge so aggressively.
But was he wrong?
No. Lin Xiao knew he wasn’t wrong. Jiang Linfeng deserved to face the consequences of his actions.
At the core of it, these people believed that just because they had power, they could do whatever they wanted; that strength gave them the right to control everything. They never cared about the lives they destroyed, never questioned whether their actions were right or wrong.
When people with power act with cruelty, the destruction they cause is far greater than that of ordinary people.
They were the true cancer of society.
As the former captain of the Dragon Sword Squad, who had completed countless covert missions, Lin Xiao understood this deeply.
And for people like that, Lin Xiao had only one solution.
To utterly destroy their confidence, their pride, their dignity—and the very power they relied on. He would crush them from the inside out, leaving nothing standing.
But the members of the Golden Claw Sect had no idea what was going through Lin Xiao’s mind.
If they did, they would have run as far as possible. They would never dare to stay near him for even a second.
But ignorance breeds fearlessness.
The Golden Claw Sect students stared coldly at Lin Xiao, as if they were eyeing prey that had fallen into a trap or a lamb that had wandered into a den of wolves.
Two Golden Claw Sect disciples stationed at the entrance swiftly closed in on Lin Xiao, flanking him from either side. Their eyes locked onto him with fierce intent, bodies tense, waiting for the right moment to strike, just as they had with the others from Chen’s Martial Hall.
Sensing Lin Xiao wasn’t an ordinary opponent, the rest of the Golden Claw students didn’t hesitate. Moving in unison, they encircled him, sealing off every possible path of retreat.
Hearing Chen Lingxin call Lin Xiao “Master,” Duan Fei’s eyes narrowed slightly.
He decided to put this fiery girl on hold and take care of this newcomer first. After all, if he could beat her master, it would surely deal her a heavy blow.
A cruel smile crept onto Duan Fei’s face. He snapped his fingers, and the Golden Claw Sect members surrounding Lin Xiao parted to create a path.
With a cocky swagger, Duan Fei approached, stopping two meters from Lin Xiao and tilting his chin up slightly.
“Kid, are you the master of the Chen Martial Hall?”
Lin Xiao’s expression remained completely neutral. His eyes showed no reaction to Duan Fei’s rude tone. To him, Duan Fei was already a defeated man.
“That’s right.”
“You’ve got some bad luck then,” Duan Fei shook his head, sighing dramatically. “You managed to escape earlier, but now you’ve come looking for trouble. You’ve got some skill, kicking the door down like that. Are you here to play hero?”
Lin Xiao suddenly smiled. A cold and distant smile.
“That’s right. Not only am I here to play hero, but I’m also here to punish the wicked. None of you will be leaving here today.”
The Golden Claw Sect students erupted in fury, glaring at him with hostility and hurling insults.
“Ha! Where did this idiot come from? Got no skills but a big mouth!”
“Senior Brother Duan, let me handle this fool. I’ll beat him so bad his own mother won’t recognize him!”
“No, let me do it! It’s been a while since I’ve dealt with such an idiot. I’m itching for a fight!”
The Golden Claw Sect members tightened the circle, fists clenched, ready to strike.
But Lin Xiao stood calm in the center, hands at his sides, head slightly lowered, his gaze serene as if he were carved from stone.
“Shut up, all of you!” Duan Fei bellowed, putting an end to the growing chaos. “You all want to teach this guy a lesson? Fine, but let me get some answers first.”
Turning back to Lin Xiao, Duan Fei asked, “I heard the students from the Chen Martial Hall call you ‘Master’ earlier. If you really are the head, then you must know someone named Lin Xiao, right? You’ve got the same last name, could you actually be Lin Xiao?”
The moment those words left Duan Fei’s mouth, the surrounding Golden Claw Sect students sharpened their gazes. Their expressions grew more vicious and dangerous.
“That’s right. I’m the one you’re looking for,” Lin Xiao said, his face devoid of emotion as a glint flashed in his eyes. “Isn’t all this commotion just to find me? Well, here I am. What are you planning to do now?”
“Ridiculous. You expect me to believe that?” Duan Fei sneered at Lin Xiao’s response.
His first instinct was disbelief. Lin Xiao looked far too young. He knew about his uncle, Jiang Linfeng’s, cultivation level, which was at the Dark Force stage. For him to have been crippled by someone like Lin Xiao, the person responsible would have to be at least at the Dark Force stage or higher.
Duan Fei considered himself a genius, and even he had only reached the mid-stage of Bright Force. There was no way this young guy could be the one who crippled his uncle.
It was an absurd thought.
“I’ll give you one more chance. Tell the truth, and I’ll tell my guys to take it easy on you. But if you keep lying, you’ll regret it.”
Lin Xiao remained silent. He stared at Duan Fei, feeling an overwhelming sense of absurdity.
“Hey, dirtbag! Senior Brother Duan is talking to you! Cat got your tongue?”
“Answer him, or you’ll regret it!”
The Golden Claw Sect students erupted in curses, enraged by Lin Xiao’s lack of response.
