Chapter 28: My Boss is Brother Tiger
by tinytree“So, it’s you.”
“You still remember me, Brother Lin? I’m Luo Xiaofeng, but you can just call me Little Luo,” Luo Xiaofeng said, his voice tinged with excitement.
Unlike the dismissive white-collar workers in the company, he held a deep admiration for Lin Xiao.
This admiration grew when he found out just now that Lu Yufei, the Director of the Logistics Department, was packing up to leave. It was clear to him just how influential Lin Xiao was.
He was aware that Lu Yufei and Lin Xiao had a troubled relationship. Now, with Lin Xiao staying put and Lu Yufei being shown the door, the situation spoke volumes.
Of course, even without knowing this news, he admired Lin Xiao very much. The scene where Lin Xiao single-handedly beat their four or five security guards till they were crawling around looking for their teeth was still imprinted in his mind.
Even though he was one of those who were crawling around looking for their teeth.
“No, nothing really. I just wanted to say hi,” Luo Xiaofeng said, sounding slightly embarrassed. “I was worried you might be mad at me. It’s a relief to see you take it so well.”
“The incident wasn’t your fault. After all, Lu Yufei was your boss then,” Lin Xiao said, shaking his head.
After the brief interaction, Lin Xiao departed. But he made a mental note of Luo Xiaofeng, the first employee at Brilliant Aya Limited to greet him.
Watching Lin Xiao recede into the distance, Luo Xiaofeng shrugged off the scornful looks from the white collars and returned to the security room.
“Little Luo, did you actually go out of your way to find that bodyguard? He’s just a bodyguard. Even if he’s the personal one for the president, he’s still just a bodyguard.”
“Yeah, are you seriously treating a measly bodyguard as if he’s a big shot? No offense, but you’re still too naive.”
The moment he entered the security room, a wave of sarcasm from his colleagues hit Luo Xiaofeng. Among them were a few of the security guards who had been laid low by Lin Xiao.
They sneered at Luo Xiaofeng, sharing similar views with the white-collar workers in the company. In their eyes, Lin Xiao was just a lowly employee who happened to luck out to be the president’s personal guard.
Luo Xiaofeng simply smiled, keeping his thoughts to himself.

Lin Xiao continued to roam around the building for a while. By around five o’clock, he went up to the top floor, waiting outside the CEO’s office for Wan Caixuan.
He didn’t have to wait long. The office door opened, and a somewhat weary Wan Caixuan walked out.
“I’m sorry for the wait,” she said, seeing Lin Xiao standing outside.
“No problem, it’s part of my job,” Lin Xiao reassured her.
Without further ado, they made their way to the car park on the first floor of the Brilliant Tower. Wan Caixuan handed Lin Xiao a set of car keys.
“The previous car is still at the police station; use this one in the meantime.” Wan Caixuan pointed toward a sleek-looking Porsche.
“Alright,” Lin Xiao responded with an indifferent nod.
He wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about cars. For him, as long as it ran, that was good enough.
Wan Caixuan resided in a place called Jiangnan Floral Estates, a villa community and the most luxurious one in Jinghai City. Home to Jinghai City’s most elite and affluent, ensuring an exceptionally high level of security. The community had round-the-clock patrols and surveillance, covering every corner with no blind spots.
Considering the safety standards, it was arguably one of the safest places in Jinghai City.
In this community, Wan Caixuan didn’t need to worry about her security, thus eliminating the need for Lin Xiao’s constant close protection. Otherwise, after today’s assassination attempt, no matter how brave she was, she wouldn’t dare to let Lin Xiao go.
The Brilliant Tower was not too far from Jiangnan Floral Estates. About half an hour later, Lin Xiao dropped Wan Caixuan off at the entrance of Jiangnan Floral Estates.
“President Wan, should I stop here?” he asked.
“Yes, remember to pick me up here around eight tomorrow morning.”
“Understood.”
With that, Lin Xiao nodded, turned around, and left.
After leaving Jiangnan Floral Estates, Lin Xiao was on his way back to Yongnan District when his phone suddenly rang. He picked it up, glanced at the number, and answered.
“Hello, Big Brother Lin.” Yuan Yu’s voice came from the other end.
“Hi, little Yu, do you need something?” he responded.
“Big Brother Lin, have you finished work? If so, come over for dinner. I’ve already got the groceries,” Yuan Yu invited.
Initially, Lin Xiao wanted to decline, but knowing that Yuan Yu’s mother was hospitalized and Yuan Yu was alone at home, he couldn’t bring himself to. She must be feeling very lonely.
“Alright, I’ll be right over,” he agreed.
“Yes, Big Brother Lin, please be sure to savor my cooking skills.”
After hanging up the phone, Lin Xiao returned to the Yongnan District via bus and proceeded to walk to Yuan Yu’s home.
When he reached Yuan Yu’s neighborhood, it was already past six. He approached the building where she lived.
He stepped into the corridor, planning to ascend to the second floor. However, as he entered, his brow furrowed, and his expression altered. His eyes sharply darted toward the second floor.
“Yuan Yu, open up.”
“Yuan Yu, we know you’re home. We’ve come to take you out.”
The unique tones of two adolescent boys reverberated within the narrow corridor.
Without any hesitation, Lin Xiao swiftly ascended to the second floor.
He found two seventeen or eighteen-year-old boys at Yuan Yu’s door. Their hair dyed an array of haphazard colors, knocking on her door.
“Who are you?”
A flash of coldness darted across Lin Xiao’s eyes. He suppressed his murderous intent and asked, his tone icy.
“Ah… who… who are you…”
Lin Xiao’s sudden voice startled the two teens. But when they turned to see Lin Xiao, all dressed in a suit, their courage seemed to return, and they retorted arrogantly, “Who are you? Who we are is none of your business!”
In their limited world experience, they believed people in suits were generally timid and easily frightened.
Lin Xiao’s eyes turned even colder. Just as he was preparing to teach these two a lesson, the adjacent door suddenly swung open. Yuan Yu, with a trace of excitement, said, “Big Brother Lin, you’ve arrived.”
“Little Yu, are you alright?” Seeing that Yuan Yu was not frightened, Lin Xiao breathed a sigh of relief.
“I’m fine. Don’t worry, Big Brother Lin,” Yuan Yu smiled. Then, she turned to the two teenagers next to her, her tone tinged with anger, “You two need to leave immediately, or I’ll tell your parents.”
The two teenagers were enraged seeing their goddess being so friendly to another man.
“Who is he, Yuan Yu?”
“It’s none of your business; just leave.” Yuan Yu’s face was filled with anger.
The two boys, seeing Yuan Yu’s fury, didn’t question any further. Instead, they directed their hostility toward Lin Xiao, glaring at him threateningly, “We’re warning you, stay away from Yuan Yu, or we won’t be nice.”
“Not nice? How so?” Lin Xiao realized that Yuan Yu knew these two boys. They might even be from the same neighborhood.
However, he had no intention of showing mercy. It was boys like these—young, reckless, and already capable of crime—who posed the greatest threat.
Impulsive decisions could lead to outrageous actions. Only a harsh lesson would make them understand the pain.
“Looking for trouble.”
One of the boys, burning with rage, lunged forward and threw a punch at Lin Xiao.
Lin Xiao’s eyes turned icy as he swiftly kicked out.
The kick was lightning-fast. Even though Lin Xiao hadn’t exerted much force, the boy was still sent reeling back, landing on his behind at the bottom of the stairs, almost rolling down.
“Big Brother Lin, stop. Their parents are very good to me and helped me a lot.” Yuan Yu softly implored Lin Xiao, pulling gently at his sleeve.
Lin Xiao nodded, refraining from further action. With an indifferent tone, he asked, “Well? Do you still want to fight?”
At this point, the boys understood that Lin Xiao was not to be messed with. However, upon glancing at Yuan Yu behind Lin Xiao, they didn’t leave but instead glared at Lin Xiao.
“You’re quite the fighter, huh? But don’t get cocky, do you know who our boss is?”
“Oh? Who?”
“I’m telling you, don’t be scared when you hear this. Our boss is the big shot of Yongnan District, Brother Tiger.”
The boy’s face was full of smugness, as though he was already imagining Lin Xiao begging for mercy at the mention of Brother Tiger’s name. Much to their surprise, Lin Xiao’s expression turned rather odd.
“Is that so? Well, go ahead and call him over.”
Lin Xiao had been pondering over how to teach these boys a lesson. Yuan Yu mentioned that their parents had been good to her and had taken care of her.
Therefore, he couldn’t resort to excessive force, as that would be hard to justify to Yuan Yu. But leaving them unpunished wasn’t an option either, as they would likely become more emboldened in the future.
However, upon hearing the familiar name of Tiger Brother, he had an idea.
‘It’s been a few days since I saw Brother Tiger.’ This was the thought that crossed Lin Xiao’s mind.
