    Chapter Index

Lin Xiao complied without hesitation. He spread his arms and said seriously, “Sister Xin, let me give you a hug.”

His words were entirely sincere, devoid of any ulterior motives.

Lin Xiao understood the hardships Huang Xinyu had endured raising Huang Caixing alone—the sweat, the struggles, and the countless sacrifices.

Huang Xinyu hadn’t expected Lin Xiao to be so bold. Her cheeks flushed slightly, but she couldn’t find it in herself to refuse. It wasn’t just because Lin Xiao’s embrace exuded strength but also because, in this moment, she truly needed the warmth of a hug.

“Just for a little while, and no funny business,” Huang Xinyu warned, tapping Lin Xiao on the forehead before slowly leaning into his chest, her arms wrapping around his waist.

Even through the fabric of their clothes, Lin Xiao could feel the softness that would drive any man wild. Yet, his heart remained surprisingly calm.

Huang Xinyu rested her cheek against his chest, listening to the steady, powerful rhythm of his heartbeat, and gently closed her eyes.

    Time slipped by.

No one knew how long they’d stayed like that until a sudden knock on the private room’s door broke the silence.

“Ms. Huang, Mr. Lin, may I come in?”

Huang Xinyu jolted as though electrocuted. She sprang out of Lin Xiao’s arms, quickly straightened her clothes, and cleared her throat.

    “Come in.”

Seeing her flustered state, Lin Xiao couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

Huang Xinyu shot him a glare, mouthing, “What’s so funny?”

Lin Xiao spread his hands wordlessly.

A female server entered, bowing respectfully to Huang Xinyu.

“Ms. Huang, our general manager would like to meet you.”

“Oh? President Pan?” In just a few seconds, Huang Xinyu had regained her composure. The previous softness vanished, replaced by the sharp aura of a capable businesswoman. “Let him in.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the door swung open, and a rotund man squeezed his way inside. He appeared to be in his forties, completely bald, with a perpetually smiling face. At a glance, he bore a striking resemblance to Maitreya Buddha.

“Chairman Huang, a pleasure, truly a pleasure.”

This President Pan was none other than the man Fang Tianping had spoken to. Yet, in front of Huang Xinyu, his attitude was even more deferential. He wiped his greasy hands on his pants and extended one toward her from afar.

“President Pan, please have a seat. No need for handshakes.” Huang Xinyu smiled warmly but didn’t spare his pudgy hand a glance, radiating an undeniable queenly presence. “I assume you’re here because you have something to say?”

President Pan eased into a nearby sofa, which sank deeply under his weight, almost as though it couldn’t bear the load.

Once seated, his face stretched into an overly eager smile, his already narrow eyes almost disappearing entirely. “Chairman Huang, you’re as sharp as ever. Indeed, I have important news to report.”

    “Speak. I’m listening.”

Huang Xinyu picked up her chopsticks and casually grabbed a piece of vegetable, forgetting it was the same pair Lin Xiao had used, still bearing traces of his saliva.

President Pan glanced sideways at the server, who understood immediately, bowing as she exited and quietly shut the door behind her.

“This gentleman is…?” President Pan’s gaze shifted to Lin Xiao.

“There’s no need for you to know who he is,” Huang Xinyu replied coolly. “Just speak plainly. Stop beating around the bush.”

“Yes, of course.” President Pan couldn’t hide his curiosity about Lin Xiao. He silently speculated about their relationship, surprised that someone could earn such trust from Huang Xinyu. “Chairman Huang, may I first confirm if the conditions you previously mentioned still stand?”

“Of course they do. I never joke about my credibility.” Huang Xinyu’s eyebrows arched slightly. “As long as you remove Fang Tianping from his chairman position at Aerospace Group, I’ll make sure you take his place.”

A glint flashed in President Pan’s tiny eyes. “Hearing that puts my mind at ease. The news I wanted to share is…”

Without reservation, President Pan spilled everything, betraying Fang Tianping completely.

As Huang Xinyu listened, her expression grew colder and colder, her anger becoming increasingly evident.

Lin Xiao sat silently beside her, absorbing every word. His face remained calm, but a chilling intent flickered in his eyes.

When President Pan finally finished speaking, he took several deep breaths and cautiously asked, “Chairman Huang, how would you like to handle Fang Tianping?”

“President Pan, thank you for bringing me this information. I can now guarantee that the chairman’s seat at Aerospace Group is yours.”

First, she reassured him. Then, she continued, “For now, just follow Fang Tianping’s orders as usual. Act as though our conversation never happened. Can you do that?”

President Pan was a seasoned businessman and instantly grasped her intentions. He nodded repeatedly. “Understood, Chairman Huang. I know exactly what to do. I won’t disturb you or this gentleman any further. Good day!”

With that, he heaved himself off the sofa and waddled out of the private room.

Once he was gone, Huang Xinyu could no longer suppress her fury. Her fair hand slammed down on the table.

“I never imagined Fang Tianping could be this deranged.”

“Sister Xin, what are you planning to do?” Lin Xiao asked calmly.

“I’m going to make him regret his actions for the rest of his life.” A rare, murderous glint flickered in Huang Xinyu’s eyes. Fang Tianping had clearly crossed her bottom line. “Xiao Xiao, you’ll help me, won’t you?”

    “Of course.”

“I’ll need to adjust my original plan. I planned to stop after ousting Fang Tianping from Aerospace Group, but now it seems I was being far too lenient.”

Huang Xinyu took a few deep breaths. Despite her intense anger, she maintained her composure. “I’ve asked Fat Pan to cooperate with Fang Tianping precisely to turn the tables on him, to make him walk right into our trap.”

“I understand,” Lin Xiao replied evenly. “Looks like there’s no heading back to Jinghai tonight.”

Huang Xinyu shot him an exasperated look. “You’re still thinking about going back to Jinghai? I’m practically fuming here.”

“What’s there to be mad about? Fang Tianping will be a dead man soon,” Lin Xiao mused silently.

His gaze turned icy, the decision to end Fang Tianping already made.

Still, this turn of events had given Lin Xiao newfound respect for Huang Xinyu. He hadn’t expected her to move so quietly, even managing to win over someone as close to Fang Tianping as President Pan. It was no wonder she was so confident about taking him down.

“Sister Xin, what do you need me to do?” Lin Xiao asked.

Huang Xinyu hesitated, her gaze flickering briefly before she turned her head and whispered, “Xiao Xiao, why don’t you… Sleep in my room tonight?”

    “Okay.”

Lin Xiao didn’t notice the flicker in her eyes, nor did his thoughts wander. His answer was firm and decisive.

Though Huang Xinyu had mentally prepared herself, she couldn’t help but feel relieved by his straightforward acceptance. In truth, even if she hadn’t suggested it, Lin Xiao already planned to stay in Linjin City for the night—just in case.
