Chapter 331: Arrival
by tinytreeLin Xiao pondered for a moment. He was about to speak when a lively figure suddenly burst into view.
Even before entering the room, an energetic voice rang out, “Lin Xiao, your auntie is here!”
There was only one person who dared to speak to Lin Xiao in such a tone—Miss Li Yunxi.
The echo of her voice still lingered in the air when Li Yunxi, bringing a faint fragrance with her, rushed up to Lin Xiao.
Everyone around Lin Xiao was momentarily stunned. A dazzling beauty had appeared before them, stunning them so much that even their heartbeats seemed to skip a beat.
Li Yunxi’s outfit was simply too eye-catching.
She wore a light purple blouse with a slightly open neckline revealing a hint of fair skin. Below, a pair of faded jeans perfectly outlined her long, slender legs, and on her feet, she wore crystal sandals, her toenails painted a striking red. Her entire presence exuded a blend of charm and elegance.
Li Yunxi ignored everyone else, her eyes fixed solely on Lin Xiao. Her bright, expressive eyes locked onto his face, her lips slightly parted, revealing pearly white teeth. One hand rested on her waist, while the other gripped Lin Xiao’s shoulder as she caught her breath.
Perhaps due to running too fast, her chest rose and fell rapidly, creating an enticing scene before Lin Xiao’s eyes.
“Lin Xiao, have you gone bad? Running to a nightclub in broad daylight? Fess up, what are you doing here?” Li Yunxi playfully punched Lin Xiao’s chest, her voice tinged with feigned anger.
Lin Xiao steadied her, then turned his head slightly toward Old Jin, who stood to the side.
“I’m just here to help him. Nothing else.”
Only then did Li Yunxi seem to notice the people around Lin Xiao.
Old Jin and his subordinates all stared at her, wide-eyed, completely captivated by her beauty.
A woman of Li Yunxi’s caliber—possessing both stunning looks and an extraordinary presence—was rarely seen by ordinary people.
“What are you staring at? Keep looking, and I’ll dig your eyes out.” Li Yunxi shot them a fierce glare.
Old Jin snapped out of his daze and quickly averted his gaze, not daring to look any longer.
As for his underlings, they immediately dropped their heads, staring intently at their own feet.
Old Jin wasn’t sure what kind of relationship Lin Xiao and Li Yunxi had, but even a fool could see that they were far from ordinary acquaintances. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have rushed over to the nightclub so anxiously.
If any other woman had spoken to him that way, Old Jin would have slapped her without hesitation. But this woman was not only Lin Xiao’s close confidante. She also came from a powerful background. She wasn’t someone he could treat like an ordinary woman.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Old Jin forced a smile. “Apologies, apologies.”
Li Yunxi snorted through her nose before grabbing Lin Xiao and pulling him aside. Leaning in close, she whispered into his ear, “Lin Xiao, why are you hanging around with people like this?”
Her warm breath tickled his ear, making Lin Xiao instinctively rub it. “Is there a problem?”
“These guys don’t look like good people.” Li Yunxi glanced at Old Jin, her eyes sweeping over his floral shirt and gold necklace. “Don’t let them fool you with sweet talk.”
“Do I look like someone who gets easily tricked?” Lin Xiao chuckled helplessly. “They might not have been good people before, but they’ve turned over a new leaf. Don’t judge a book by its cover.”
“Hmm… Sounds like there’s a story behind this.” Li Yunxi withdrew her gaze and gave Lin Xiao a scrutinizing look. Suddenly, a hint of suspicion flashed across her face. “Why do you smell like a woman?”
She wrinkled her delicate nose and sniffed near Lin Xiao’s neck.
Lin Xiao’s heart skipped slightly. He hadn’t expected Li Yunxi’s sense of smell to be so sharp.
Though nothing had happened between him and Huang Xinyu the previous night, they had shared a bed, and inevitably, some scent had lingered.
However, his expression remained unchanged. “Do I? I don’t smell anything.”
“Tch, you’re such a bad liar. Whatever, I won’t pry, as long as you’re not fooling around with shady women.” Li Yunxi pulled her arm away from Lin Xiao’s shoulder, then crooked her finger at Old Jin. “Come here. I have something to ask you.”
Old Jin immediately stepped forward, wearing a fawning smile. “Miss Li, hello. Just call me Old Jin. I own this nightclub and am also Boss Lin’s humble errand boy.”
In front of Lin Xiao and Li Yunxi, Old Jin lowered himself completely, showing none of his usual dominance as an underworld figure.
“You know me?” Li Yunxi raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile on her lips. “And you call him Boss Lin? Interesting.”
“Who in Jinghai City doesn’t know Miss Li?” Old Jin smoothly flattered her before thumping his chest. “Thanks to Boss Lin’s guidance, I’ve turned over a new leaf. He’s given me a second chance, and I’m forever grateful.”
Li Yunxi elbowed Lin Xiao in the waist. “This little underling of yours is good. Knows how to show respect. Better than my own people.”
Lin Xiao frowned slightly, grabbed Li Yunxi’s arm, and said to Old Jin, “I won’t be going tonight. Be careful. Don’t let yourself get played.”
“Yes, of course.” Old Jin nodded quickly, showing no objections.
He had wanted Lin Xiao to come along. With someone as formidable as Lin Xiao present, no underground force would dare challenge them.
But since Lin Xiao wasn’t interested, Old Jin wouldn’t dare press him. Angering this big boss wouldn’t just cost him his position, it would make it impossible for him to survive in Jinghai City.
Li Yunxi, intrigued, cut in, “What are you guys talking about?”
“Nothing. It doesn’t concern you,” Lin Xiao replied, pulling her toward the exit. “Let’s go.”
Li Yunxi’s eyes gleamed with curiosity. The more Lin Xiao tried to brush it off, the more interested she became. She swiftly looped her arms around his and looked at Old Jin. “You tell me.”
Old Jin glanced at Lin Xiao for permission before cautiously speaking. “It’s about an underground tournament.”
“Underground tournament? Since when did Jinghai have something like that? And why don’t I know about it?” Li Yunxi’s eyes lit up. “Tell me everything.”
Lin Xiao sighed inwardly. He knew this would happen.
With Li Yunxi’s personality, there was no way she’d let this go.
Old Jin shot another glance at Lin Xiao. Seeing that Lin Xiao didn’t object, he mustered his courage and explained the details of the underground tournament to Li Yunxi.
He had already noticed how close Lin Xiao and Li Yunxi were. If he could win over Miss Li, perhaps he could sway Lin Xiao too.
Li Yunxi rubbed her hands together in excitement. “This sounds fun! I’ve always wanted to see an underground tournament. Lin Xiao, why aren’t you going?”
