    Chapter Index

Gu Shaojun never expected that, despite being surrounded, Li Yunxi would still dare to hit him. His mind momentarily failed to process what had just happened. He instinctively covered his cheek, completely stunned.

“You didn’t come looking for trouble with me. I should be the one settling the score with you.”

Li Yunxi flicked her hand forcefully. The impact of the slap had made her palm sting. “Hitting an idiot like you is simply dirtying my hand.”

Seeing Gu Shaojun get slapped, his lackeys immediately erupted in outrage.

“What the hell are you doing?!”

“Do you even know who Young Master Gu is?”

“Young Master Gu, are you alright?”

“This crazy woman dared to lay hands on you, Young Master Gu! Let’s teach her a lesson!”

Gu Shaojun’s lackeys were seething, pointing at Li Yunxi and cursing loudly. However, Li Yunxi merely curled her lips into a cold sneer, utterly unfazed.

As soon as she slapped Gu Shaojun, the burly man behind him flashed a murderous glint in his eyes. His thick fingers clenched into a tight fist, veins bulging along his forearm as if he were about to lunge forward and tear Li Yunxi apart.

However, his gaze shifted to Lin Xiao, standing behind Li Yunxi. Though the killing intent in his eyes remained, a hint of wariness appeared.

Unlike the others, who saw Lin Xiao as nothing more than an ordinary bystander, this burly man possessed a keener instinct. He was the only one who sensed that Lin Xiao was far from ordinary.

    “You dare hit me?!”

In the midst of the commotion, it took Gu Shaojun several seconds to snap out of his daze. His face contorted with rage, his eyes turning bloodshot. “Do you even know who I am?!”

“I couldn’t care less who you are. So what if I slapped you?” Li Yunxi scoffed. “That slap was just the interest, our score isn’t settled yet.”

As she spoke, she took an inconspicuous step back, aligning herself beside Lin Xiao.

“Lin Xiao, it’s your turn now.” She lowered her voice, speaking casually. “Go ahead and knock them all down for me.”

“You start the trouble, and I have to clean up the mess?” Lin Xiao murmured, his words only audible to the two of them.

“This isn’t trouble, it’s just a minor inconvenience for you.” Li Yunxi giggled, flashing him an enchanting glance. “Besides, don’t forget, we’ve already bathed in the same pool together. You’ve seen everything, haven’t you? After taking such a big advantage, what’s wrong with helping me out a little?”

Lin Xiao was momentarily speechless. He tilted his chin slightly, motioning for Li Yunxi to step back. Then, his expression turned calm and unreadable as his gaze shifted to Gu Shaojun.

Li Yunxi patted Lin Xiao’s shoulder, then shot Gu Shaojun a provocative look before retreating behind Lin Xiao.

Gu Shaojun was breathing heavily, glaring at Li Yunxi like an enraged bull.

Just when Li Yunxi thought he would explode, he suddenly took a deep breath, regaining his composure.

Though he managed to calm himself, the fury and hatred in his eyes only deepened. “You’re right. Our score isn’t settled yet. I’ll remember this slap, and once I have you in my grasp, I’ll make sure to settle everything at once.”

He waved his hand and barked, “Seize her.”

At his command, his lackeys finally sprang into action, advancing toward Li Yunxi and Lin Xiao with malicious grins.

Despite their varying physiques, all of them were muscular and carried a faint aura of aggression, indicating their extensive experience in street fights.

Lin Xiao slightly shifted his stance, positioning himself in front of Li Yunxi. As the thugs closed in, he stood unmoving, as steady as a mountain.

“You think this guy can play the hero?”

One of the lackeys, a man with the character “忍” (endure) tattooed on his neck, spat on the ground and sneered. “Brothers, I have a suggestion: let’s beat this guy to a pulp first before dealing with the woman.”

“Good idea. I’ve had enough of this guy already. He looks like nothing special, yet he’s got such a beauty clinging to him.”

“Haha! Well said, Brother Dong. Let’s take him down first. Who’s going in?”

“I’ll do it. The rest of you, stay out of it.”

The man with the “Endure” tattoo cracked his neck and stepped forward, striding arrogantly toward Lin Xiao. He curled his finger, beckoning. “Come on, tough guy. You wanna play hero? I’ll give you the chance.”

As he spoke, he raised his fists—each as large as a bowl—and slammed them together in front of his chest, producing a dull, heavy sound. Then, he flexed his biceps, his muscles bulging like writhing mice beneath his skin.

Despite the man’s provocative display, Lin Xiao remained unperturbed. There was no anger in his expression—only indifference.

For a fool who didn’t know his place, was there even a need to be angry?

Lin Xiao simply asked, “Are you sure?”

Annoyed by his tone, the man snapped, “Do I look like I’m joking? Hurry up and fight. Let me see what you’ve got.”

    “Alright. As you wish.”

Lin Xiao slowly withdrew one hand from his pocket while keeping the other tucked inside. He leisurely stretched his fingers.

“You think you can beat me with just one hand? Who the hell do you think you are? Dumbass!” The man sneered at Lin Xiao’s casual stance.

“Is that so? Just don’t beg for mercy later.”

Lin Xiao’s tone remained calm as he extended his hand, his fingers slightly curled as he reached forward.

The movement appeared sluggish and effortless, lacking any power or momentum.

This instantly infuriated the thug. “You dare look down on me?!”

With a flash of vicious intent in his eyes, he swung his massive fist straight at Lin Xiao’s face.

By all logic, his arm was longer, and his punch was faster. However, before his fist could even come close, Lin Xiao’s hand was already at his throat.

“A little grab like that? Who’s afraid of—”

The thug didn’t bother dodging. He was determined that, even if Lin Xiao grabbed his neck, he would still land a solid punch to that smug face.

But imagination was one thing—reality was another.

The moment Lin Xiao’s fingers tightened around his throat, an indescribable terror surged through the thug’s entire being. His soul seemed to freeze in place.

It was the terror of facing death.

Like plunging into an abyss. Like staring into the eyes of the Grim Reaper himself.

Lin Xiao’s preferred method of killing had always been breaking necks—clean, silent, and efficient. The victim wouldn’t even have the chance to scream, and there was no mess to deal with.

Most of Lin Xiao’s past enemies, barring a few true experts, had died in this very manner.

As a result, his hand carried a natural aura of death.

Under the influence of this terrifying aura, the thug suddenly became convinced that his neck would be snapped at any moment. He immediately abandoned his attack, grabbing desperately at Lin Xiao’s wrist in a panicked struggle.

But Lin Xiao’s grip was as unyielding as steel. No matter how much he thrashed, he couldn’t budge it even an inch.

In that instant, the thug realized he was nothing more than a helpless chick in Lin Xiao’s grasp, utterly powerless.

The strength he had always prided himself on was completely insignificant in the face of Lin Xiao. It was the difference between heaven and earth.
