    Chapter Index

    Yongnan District.

A red Ferrari was parked by the roadside.

Lin Xiao stood beside the car, looking up at the nearby residential building with a subtle expression.

He had learned from the murderer that his other accomplice, nicknamed Jing Yi, was hiding in that building.

“As the saying goes, the great hermit hides in the city. This guy’s ability to hide is quite good, much smarter than his companion.”

Lin Xiao was currently on a bustling street in Yongnan District, surrounded by people who curiously glanced at him, focusing mainly on the Ferrari behind him.

A supercar worth around ten million was rare even in the entire Jinghai, let alone in a backward area like the Yongnan District.

Compared to this supercar, Lin Xiao, with his average looks and ordinary attire, seemed out of place.

Lin Xiao paid no attention to the pedestrians’ gazes. He kept his hands in his pockets to prevent others from seeing the scars on his hands. With a calm expression and steady steps, he walked toward the residential building.

At the entrance of the building, there was a security booth. Lin Xiao casually made up an excuse, saying he was visiting a relative upstairs.

Perhaps because Lin Xiao looked too ordinary, the security guard didn’t suspect his intentions at all. After having him sign the visitor log, he let him pass.

Lin Xiao took the elevator straight to the fifteenth floor, arriving outside a tightly closed security door. After confirming the door number, he pressed the doorbell without hesitation.

After more than ten seconds, a low, hoarse voice sounded from behind the door, like two pieces of sandpaper rubbing together, very unpleasant, “Who is it?”

“Food delivery,” Lin Xiao replied perfunctorily.

He rang the bell merely to confirm if anyone was inside. Now that he knew someone was there, what he said no longer mattered. There was no way the person inside could escape him.

After hearing his reply, the room fell suddenly silent. Not a single sound followed.

A sharp glint flickered in Lin Xiao’s eyes. He knew he had found his target. He took a step back and suddenly lashed out, kicking the security door.

The steel security door twisted and buckled under his kick, broke free from its screws, and flew inward, crashing to the ground three or four meters away.

Lin Xiao’s body moved with a blur. Before the door even hit the floor, he had already rushed into the room. A pungent stench of blood immediately assaulted his nostrils, mixed with an indescribable rotting odor.

The room was extremely dim. Though it was daytime, it felt like pitch darkness.

All the windows had been covered with black drapes.

With a sharp sweep of his eyes, Lin Xiao quickly took in the room’s scene. His expression turned cold, a ruthless killing intent flashing in his eyes.

Three corpses lay on the floor—judging by their sizes, likely a family. But they had been dead for several days. The skin on their faces had been completely peeled off. The stench came from their decaying bodies.

Beside the corpses stood a figure cloaked entirely in black, face mostly hidden beneath the hood. In the darkness, a pair of eyes gleamed with savage light.

“You’re Jing Yi?” Lin Xiao asked without wasting any words, his voice as cold as ice.

The cloaked figure stirred slightly, seemingly startled that Lin Xiao knew his identity. His raspy voice replied, “Who are you? How do you know I’m here?”

“Who I am, you don’t need to know.” Lin Xiao’s eyes narrowed slightly as he leaned forward. With that motion, killing intent surged like a tidal wave. “Slaughtering innocents, you deserve to die.”

The word “die” had barely left his lips when Lin Xiao launched his attack.

With a fierce stomp of his left foot, the tiles beneath shattered, leaving a deep footprint inches thick!

Using the explosive force, Lin Xiao shot forward like lightning, arriving before Jing Yi in a flash. His iron-like fist, carrying a mountain-crushing force, thundered toward Jing Yi’s chest!

This punch was driven by Lin Xiao’s fury. The force behind it was overwhelming, its speed blinding, and it carried his unshakable intent to kill. Resistance felt utterly futile.

Though Jing Yi had been on guard since Lin Xiao kicked in the door, he still hadn’t anticipated such decisiveness and overwhelming strength.

Faced with Lin Xiao charging in and sensing the terrifying power behind that punch, Jing Yi’s face changed drastically beneath the hood. He knew he absolutely couldn’t take it head-on. Without hesitation, he leapt back!

As he retreated, his hands, previously hanging at his sides, suddenly rose, each gripping a razor-sharp scalpel. The blades crossed in front of his chest, slicing toward Lin Xiao’s throat.

The room was already dim, and the scalpels hidden in his palms were coated with a special black poison-infused pigment, making them nearly invisible.

Though only a few inches long, the scalpels were lethally sharp and laced with poison. Even the slightest nick could cause fatal bleeding from every orifice.

From this move alone, one could see Jing Yi’s cunning and vicious nature, possibly even worse than his partner’s.

But Lin Xiao was a seasoned fighter, his instincts razor-sharp and his combat experience vast. No matter how sinister or deadly Jing Yi’s counterattack was, it posed no real threat.

Lin Xiao’s forward-thrust fist didn’t pause. His fingers curled inward, shifting from a fist to a claw—from a tiger to an eagle. Inner force surged into his palm.

In an instant, his hand muscles tensed, pores sealed, nails sprang out—hardened like steel. With unstoppable force, he clawed toward Jing Yi’s right hand.

As the claw sliced through the air, it emitted a deep, sharp tearing sound—a testament to its speed.

Lin Xiao’s other hand didn’t stay idle either. It too transformed into a claw and shot toward Jing Yi’s other hand with equal speed.

Although Jing Yi’s strength was decent, he was only on par with his fellow accomplice, no match for Lin Xiao.

He didn’t even have time to dodge. The scalpels hidden in his palms hadn’t fully emerged before Lin Xiao seized both his wrists.

    “What?!”

Jing Yi’s body trembled violently, shocked that Lin Xiao had caught him in a single move. Before he could react, Lin Xiao’s fingers clamped down—like iron shackles—locking his hands in place, rendering him immobile.

Lin Xiao’s grip was terrifying. His steel-like fingers nearly crushed Jing Yi’s wrist bones, sending a wave of intense pain through him.

    “Let go!”

Jing Yi let out a low growl, no longer able to remain calm. A blood-red gleam flashed through his eyes under the cloak. With all his strength, he struggled to break free from Lin Xiao’s grip.
