Chapter 41: Arrival
by tinytreeSong Tianxing felt a surge of pride looking at Yuan Yu’s incredulous eyes. From his childhood until now, he had never failed to acquire what he desired.
“Young Master Song, everything has been arranged as per your request. Are you pleased?” Li Chenggong asked in a fawning manner.
“Don’t worry, your efforts won’t go unrewarded. I will arrange for your promotion to the post of vice-principal,” Song Tianxing replied. He then turned to Li Li and added, “Li Li, the watch is yours as a token of my appreciation.”
“Thank you, thank you, Young Master Song.”
Both Li Li and Li Chenggong exchanged a quick glance, their eyes gleaming with a hint of joy as they thanked him hastily.
“Haha, remember, I’m never stingy with those who help me,” Song Tianxing added, their unabashed demeanor suggesting they viewed Yuan Yu as nothing more than a piece of meat on a chopping block, ready to be carved up at their whim.
Yuan Yu watched the triumphant trio, feeling utterly helpless. Never before had she encountered such audacious and malicious individuals.
Song Tianxing laughed heartily, “Yuan Yu, I hear your mother is ill and bedridden. If you agree to my terms and behave yourself, I will not only let this matter slide, but I will also ensure your mother receives the best medical care. If you refuse, well, don’t blame me for being unkind.”
“Don’t even dream about it. It’s impossible!” Yuan Yu’s voice was firm and unwavering.
“Dreaming, you say? I’m not one for dreams.” Song Tianxing’s gaze turned icy. “It seems you still don’t understand the situation. Let me show you what real despair looks like.”
“Exactly, Young Master Song. It’s high time she tasted some bitterness. Otherwise, she won’t realize her place in this world,” Li Li added, her face contorted with malice.
The mere thought of Yuan Yu filled her with hatred. Why was it that everyone always protected her?
She had not only snatched her boyfriend, but she had also made her lose face in front of her friends just a few days ago. The memory was still fresh, and the physical pain and humiliation she suffered were still imprinted in her mind.
What stung more was that despite her attempts to attract Song Tianxing because of his high social standing, he had consistently ignored her. Yet, when it came to Yuan Yu, he was inexplicably smitten.
She couldn’t fathom why Song Tianxing had set this trap. However, one thing she knew for sure: Yuan Yu was in deep trouble and was bound to face a tough time ahead.
‘Even if you’re beautiful, you’ll still be played by others,’ thought Li Li maliciously.
“Yuan Yu, I’m offering you one more chance. Will you accept or not?” posed Song Tianxing.
“Don’t even entertain the thought.” Yuan Yu rejected him outright, without a hint of hesitation.
“Very well, if that’s your choice, I’ll show you what reality is. What is…” Song Tianxing’s words trailed off, interrupted by a fit of sardonic laughter.
Just then, the office door was abruptly kicked open with a deafening noise.
A chilling voice echoed from behind. “Oh? What is what?”
Song Tianxing spun around in surprise, only to face a tall, icy-eyed young man standing in the doorway. This was the man who’d just kicked open the office door. But upon recognizing the young man’s face, he was instantly consumed by a wave of fury.
This young man was none other than Lin Xiao, who had rushed over upon receiving Yuan Yu’s call. He had arrived at Guanglai High School in Le Zhenglan’s car.
Though the school was a provincially renowned institution with an expansive campus, Lin Xiao was still unfamiliar with its layout. He had only dropped Yuan Yu off at the gate the day before and hadn’t ventured inside. Surprisingly, it was Le Zhenglan who navigated the grounds with ease, leading Lin Xiao directly toward the senior high building.
Lin Xiao didn’t ponder much on this, his mind was consumed with concern for Yuan Yu’s safety. Once they entered the building, he immediately began asking about her whereabouts.
Fortunately, Yuan Yu had a prominent reputation at school, so it wasn’t long before he found out she was in the guidance counselor’s office.
However, the odd looks from surrounding students made him increasingly uneasy and anxious. Without wasting a moment bidding Le Zhenglan farewell, he dashed toward the guidance office.
In the office, Lin Xiao’s sudden appearance made Yuan Yu’s heart feel as if it was about to leap from her chest. Her initial despair, nervousness, and fear evaporated instantly, replaced by an overwhelming sense of security.
The imposing figure of Lin Xiao stood tall, akin to the majestic Mount Everest, shielding her from all the winds and storms.
Drawing a deep breath, Yuan Yu lifted her tear-streaked face, a faint smile surfacing. She approached Lin Xiao, extending her hand to grasp his.
“Big Brother Lin, you’re here.”
A fleeting sense of heartache passed through Lin Xiao’s eyes as he looked at Yuan Yu, her face still etched with tear tracks. He nodded assertively. “Yes, I’m here.”
The exchange between Lin Xiao and Yuan Yu didn’t sit well with Song Tianxing. His face was a livid mask of fury.
He scoffed coldly, “Yuan Yu, is this the man you’re counting on? Your taste leaves much to be desired. This sort of loser, I could easily crush hundreds like him without breaking a sweat.”
Lin Xiao shot Song Tianxing a frosty glance but remained silent. He whispered to Yuan Yu, “Little Yu, tell me, what exactly is going on?”
Yuan Yu gave a gentle nod, her tear-streaked face inducing a pang of distress in Lin Xiao. She began, “Big Brother Lin, here’s what happened…”
As Yuan Yu narrated the incident, Lin Xiao’s anger simmered beneath the surface. His gaze on Song Tianxing turned icy, yet his expression remained unfazed.
“Little Yu, don’t worry. I assure you, they will pay for this,” Lin Xiao comforted, tenderly stroking Yuan Yu’s hair, his voice steady.
“Pay? You? A piece of trash?” Song Tianxing roared with derisive laughter.
However, seeing Lin Xiao daring to touch Yuan Yu, his fury was set ablaze. “Scoundrel, what the hell do you think you’re doing? Take your filthy hands off her. You dare to touch my woman? You’re asking for death!”
Song Tianxing glared at Lin Xiao, his eyes burning with rage. If stares could kill, Lin Xiao would be six feet under by now.
He was an arrogant person who had a sense of entitlement. The things he liked were always off-limits to others. He had always coveted Yuan Yu and considered her as his own possession, something he could indulge in at any time. But seeing Lin Xiao audaciously touch what he perceived as his own, it was as if his prized possession had been wrenched away from him, sparking an uncontrollable wrath.
“Trash, if you have any regard for your life, I suggest you grovel for mercy and get lost, or else—”
Song Tianxing jabbed a finger toward Lin Xiao’s face, threatening him through clenched teeth.
Yet, his words were silenced by a resounding slap.
