Chapter 424: Slam Dunk
by tinytree“Just you alone?”
Fu Chengguang’s expression darkened instantly. Lin Xiao’s action, laced with clear contempt, made him feel deeply insulted.
“My teammates are these two.” Lin Xiao pointed at Huang Caixing and Yuan Yu, his demeanor calm. “You can all go up together, I don’t mind.”
“Good. Very good!” Fu Chengguang was so enraged he laughed. He had never seen anyone as arrogant and conceited as Lin Xiao. He couldn’t wait to trample him underfoot. “Since you insist, I’ll grant your wish.”
As he spoke, Fu Chengguang waved both hands and shouted loudly, “Everyone, clear the way.”
Although the appearance of Huang Caixing and Yuan Yu had disrupted his plans somewhat, Fu Chengguang’s authority among the students remained. At his command, the surrounding students immediately scattered, leaving a large open space.
“You two stand back too. I can handle it alone.”
“Mm! Go, Brother Lin!”
Yuan Yu and Huang Caixing had complete confidence in Lin Xiao. After hearing his words, the two slowly backed off and stood by the edge of the court.
Soon, on the basketball court, only Lin Xiao and Fu Chengguang remained, along with his four teammates.
“Punk, I have to say—your arrogance and conceit have truly opened my eyes.” Fu Chengguang crossed his arms and sneered coldly. “Don’t think I’ll go easy on you just because you’ve latched onto Huang Caixing. I’ll thoroughly humiliate you and show you what happens when you mess with me!”
“Has anyone ever told you that you talk too much?” Lin Xiao finally grew impatient.
“What did you say?!” Fu Chengguang’s eyes widened. “Say that again if you dare!”
The four tall, burly students behind him took a step forward in unison, glaring at Lin Xiao with hostility.
“I said, you talk too much.” Lin Xiao found their threats laughably childish. “If it’s a match, then just play. What’s the point of talking?”
Fu Chengguang’s gaze turned frosty. He took the basketball from one of his teammates, spun it in his hand a few times, and then threw it toward Lin Xiao. “If you’ve got the guts, take the first shot. If you make even one, I’ll admit defeat.”
Lin Xiao spread the fingers of his right hand and reached out to catch the ball in one hand. “Is that so? Better not talk too big, or you’ll get slapped in the face.”
Fu Chengguang sneered contemptuously and patted his own cheek lightly. “Here’s my face, come slap it.”
Faced with Fu Chengguang’s provocation, Lin Xiao said nothing more.
He had no intention of wasting any more time with Fu Chengguang. It was pointless. He had decided to crush Fu Chengguang’s confidence and arrogance in the shortest time possible.
“I’m going to attack now. Be careful. Though I won’t go too hard.”
Lin Xiao gave a brief warning. With one hand, he began dribbling the ball skillfully. The basketball bounced rapidly between the ground and his palm, displaying powerful control.
Fu Chengguang and his four teammates exchanged glances and began to take Lin Xiao more seriously. Two players immediately closed in to double-team him, while Fu Chengguang and the other two stood under the basket, arms folded, not moving, looking completely at ease.
“They’re actually using five against one? Isn’t that too much?” A watching student couldn’t help but speak up for Lin Xiao.
“You don’t get it. Young Master Fu is going all-out, even if it’s just a rabbit he’s hunting. That’s respect for the sport,” a Fu Chengguang supporter immediately snapped back. “Besides, it was that guy who didn’t want teammates. Don’t blame Young Master Fu.”
“This match was a foregone conclusion from the start. Five on one, he’s doomed to lose.”
Another student looked at Lin Xiao with a hint of pity. “Let’s just hope he doesn’t lose too badly.”
While the students around the court chatted, the one they thought was doomed—Lin Xiao—finally made his move.
His body shifted slightly, stepping forward at astonishing speed and darting straight between the two defenders.
The two students trying to block him only saw a blur of black flash past their eyes. In the next moment, Lin Xiao had vanished from their sight.
“So fast!”
The two glanced at each other, both seeing shock in the other’s eyes. They quickly turned around, just in time to see Lin Xiao charging toward the basket.
He was fast—too fast.
His movement was as smooth as flowing water, comparable to that of professional players. The two defenders hadn’t even seen how he broke through.
Not only were the two defenders shocked by Lin Xiao’s speed, but Fu Chengguang and the other two under the basket, along with the watching crowd, were also stunned.
A true expert reveals himself with one move.
Just this simple drive allowed those familiar with basketball to immediately see Lin Xiao’s skill.
“Stop him!”
Fu Chengguang shouted in a low voice, arms spread, knees bent, standing under the basket. Without needing a reminder, the other two had already lunged at Lin Xiao from both sides.
They all thought Lin Xiao would go for a jump shot. Given his build and height, charging the basket seemed suicidal—there should be no way to score.
If Lin Xiao were an ordinary person, they would have been right.
But Lin Xiao was not.
He was a martial artist, one far beyond the limits of normal people.
Seeing the two defenders rush at him, Lin Xiao’s eyes flashed. Near the free-throw line, he pushed off the ground hard with his left foot, raised the ball in one hand, and soared upward.
His body launched like a great bird, flying toward the basket.
At that moment, gravity seemed to lose its hold. Lin Xiao hung in the air, limbs extended, his line of sight level with the hoop. His motion was smooth and effortless, exuding unmatched dominance.
“What’s he doing?”
“Is he… going for a dunk?”
“That’s impossible! No way! He’s too far!”
The moment Lin Xiao jumped, the entire basketball court fell silent. Every face showed disbelief as they stared at him, slack-jawed.
Under the basket, Fu Chengguang felt his blood freeze. He looked up blankly as Lin Xiao closed in. Almost instinctively, he jumped and raised his arms to block.
But Fu Chengguang’s defense was meaningless.
Lin Xiao’s raised right hand came crashing down.
With a violent slam dunk, he drove the ball straight into the hoop.
The force of Lin Xiao’s dunk was so great that the entire basketball stand shook violently. The hoop groaned under the pressure as if it might snap at any moment.
Fu Chengguang’s jumping body clashed with Lin Xiao’s. But while Lin Xiao remained unmoved, Fu Chengguang staggered back and fell flat on the ground.
Though the ball had already gone through the hoop, Lin Xiao’s body had yet to come down. Gripping the rim with one hand, he hung in mid-air, looking down at Fu Chengguang from above.
