Chapter 425: The Game Continues
by tinytreeFu Chengguang was also looking up at Lin Xiao, his eyes full of shock.
Their gazes met midair. Within Lin Xiao’s indifferent eyes, there seemed to be an endless majesty, like a deity looking down upon mortals. Fu Chengguang couldn’t help but lower his head, unable to meet Lin Xiao’s eyes.
Lin Xiao loosened his hand, landing lightly on the ground without kicking up even a speck of dust.
After a brief silence, the basketball court suddenly erupted into a thunderous roar—everyone was in an uproar!
“Oh my god!”
“What did I just see? He actually jumped from the free-throw line and dunked successfully!”
“Is this guy even human? So strong! Way too strong!”
“Idol. I’ve decided—this guy is my idol from now on!”
“No wonder he dared to go one against five. That terrifying jump height, that absurd hang time, that insane speed. He’s not even human!”
Listening to the crowd’s shocked reactions, both Yuan Yu and Huang Caixing wore radiant smiles, their eyes shining as they looked at Lin Xiao, a sense of pride welling in their hearts.
As for Fu Chengguang and his four teammates, they still stood dumbfounded, yet to recover from the shock.
That stunning slam dunk Lin Xiao had just executed had been far too impactful, leaving them in disbelief and feeling as if they’d just experienced a death in the family.
“Impossible! I don’t believe it!” Fu Chengguang muttered to himself, his head hanging. “That guy’s about my height, how can he have that kind of vertical? This must be a joke. I must’ve seen it wrong.”
The other four students were no less shaken than Fu Chengguang.
At this moment, the way they looked at Lin Xiao was filled with gravity and apprehension. The contempt and casual attitude they’d shown earlier had completely vanished.
A player who could jump from the free-throw line and still dunk—this was not someone ordinary high schoolers like them could handle.
They all wanted to back out, but with Fu Chengguang not speaking, they didn’t dare retreat on their own.
Compared to everyone else’s shock, Lin Xiao, the man at the center of it all, acted as though he had done something utterly routine. Expressionless, he nudged the basketball with his toe and flicked it back to Fu Chengguang: “Your turn.”
Lin Xiao’s voice snapped Fu Chengguang out of his daze. Reflexively, he reached out and caught the ball, only then realizing he was still sitting on the ground. His handsome face flushed red, and he scrambled to his feet.
“Come on, Young Master Fu!”
“You can do it, Young Master Fu!”
“Victory! Victory!”
The girls around the court all began cheering for Fu Chengguang, which finally helped him regain a bit of his confidence.
“I admit, I underestimated you before.” Fu Chengguang gripped the ball tightly, his knuckles white. “But so what if you have an insane vertical? You’re still going to lose this game!”
With that, Fu Chengguang waved over his four teammates and lowered his voice, speaking coldly, “Don’t forget our original plan. We’re not just winning, we’re putting him out of commission.”
“Don’t worry, Young Master Fu. We know what to do,” said one bulky, small-eyed, garlic-nosed student, clenching his fists. “Leave it to us, we’ll take care of him. You just focus on scoring.”
“Good. Once this is over, I’ll reward you handsomely.”
Fu Chengguang shot a cold glance at Lin Xiao, and the five shifted formation from defense to offense. Fu Chengguang dribbled the ball forward at a relaxed pace.
Two students suddenly picked up speed and charged straight toward Lin Xiao!
Lin Xiao slightly bent his knees under the basket, exuding a lone-man-blocking-a-thousand-troops aura.
Watching the two rush at him, Lin Xiao sneered inwardly. He stood still like a mountain, showing no intention of dodging.
As one of the students approached, he suddenly stumbled, as if he slipped, and slammed his shoulder into Lin Xiao’s chest.
This student was nearly 1.9 meters tall, broad-shouldered and thick-waisted, barely resembling a high schooler. He was even more solid than most adults, weighing at least 75 kg, and he was sprinting full speed.
He thought that if he rammed into Lin Xiao, even if it didn’t break the man’s sternum, it would at least send him flying.
As for an excuse, he’d already prepared it—he had simply slipped. It was all just an accident.
These thoughts flashed through the student’s mind as his shoulder crashed into Lin Xiao’s chest.
A muffled sound rang out. Lin Xiao didn’t move an inch, but the student heard the sound of his arm bone cracking, as though he had crashed into an unbreakable mountain.
He let out a groan, stars danced before his eyes, his arm throbbed in pain, and he fell flat on his butt.
“What’s going on?”
“That was clearly a malicious hit!”
“Too much! That’s a foul!”
“Where’s the referee? Blow the whistle already!”
“Idiot, foul or not, there’s no referee in this match…”
The second student, seeing his teammate fall while Lin Xiao stood motionless, was shocked. But he had been running too fast. His body couldn’t stop, and he could only watch helplessly as he slammed into Lin Xiao as well.
Another dull thud. Just like the first student, he felt like he’d hit a mountain, nearly blacking out.
A huge force from Lin Xiao’s body sent him airborne, and he crashed down hard on his rear, landing flat and hard.
This student didn’t have the same pain tolerance as the first one. Unable to hold it in, he screamed.
“To try a dirty foul on Lin is asking for it,” Huang Caixing, watching from the sidelines, said gleefully.
Yuan Yu clutched Lin Xiao’s coat tightly, worry showing on her flawless face. “Brother Lin didn’t get hurt, right? They crashed into him so hard.”
“You still don’t know how amazing Brother Lin is?” Huang Caixing rolled her eyes. “These flimsy high schoolers can’t even match one of Brother Lin’s fingers. Don’t worry.”
Back on the court, Fu Chengguang and the other two looked like they’d seen a ghost.
“Those two… could they be faking this to mess with me?” Fu Chengguang wondered.
Not that Fu Chengguang could be blamed. It was because the sight before him defied all logic.
Lin Xiao, the one being hit, was completely fine. The ones doing the hitting were both flat on the ground, unable to get up.
“Forget it. No way they’d have the guts. I’ll just score first!”
Fu Chengguang stopped, raised the ball with one hand, and lobbed it toward the basket.
He was extremely confident in his shooting. This shot had at least a 90% chance of going in.
But just as the ball left his hand, Lin Xiao suddenly appeared in front of him, leaping into the air, extending his arm like an ape, and snatching the ball mid-air.
