Chapter 437: The Seven Deadly Sins
by tinytreeThere were still more than a dozen of them, each possessing considerable strength, yet they were completely suppressed by Lin Xiao alone, barely able to catch their breath.
As one of them spoke, two more Purifier members were killed by Lin Xiao’s ruthless hands.
With every punch, kick, and strike, Lin Xiao moved like lightning—each blow carrying an overwhelming force. Anyone hit was killed instantly, no exceptions.
At this rate, if Purple Fox didn’t intervene, Lin Xiao would slaughter every last Purifier member present within minutes.
Watching Lin Xiao’s figure as he rampaged through the battlefield, the remaining Purifier members were filled with terror. They shrank back, fearful, not daring to let Lin Xiao get close.
Anyone he approached—none survived.
Lin Xiao’s expression was as hard as iron, his eyes flashing with a cold, dark light. He could feel the pressure on him gradually diminishing. The Purifier members’ attacks were weakening and no longer carried their previous ferocity.
But Lin Xiao had no intention of stopping. He had already decided to completely uproot this Purifier base in Jinghai.
As for these Purifier members, they were all guilty beyond redemption, undeserving of mercy. Death was the only outcome for them.
“The organization spent so much to hire and train you lot, but the moment you encounter a strong enemy, you reveal your true form. Utterly useless trash!” Faced with a Purifier member’s plea for help, Purple Fox stood still, arms crossed before her chest, unmoving. “If that’s the case, what use are you?”
Hearing Purple Fox’s words, the remaining seven or eight Purifier members completely lost their will to fight. They gave up attacking Lin Xiao and turned to flee toward the exit of the underground base.
However, before they could escape, Lin Xiao overtook them and killed them one by one.
In the span of a breath, more than ten people lay dead. Lin Xiao was inevitably stained with blood, and paired with his cold, gleaming eyes, he looked especially ferocious, like a Shura risen from hell.
Purple Fox watched with cold eyes as Lin Xiao slaughtered the last of the Purifiers. Behind her mask, her eyes gleamed strangely. Slowly, she spoke:
“You’ve killed so many people, your bloodlust should be nearly sated, right? Your anger, too?”
“You just stood there and watched me kill them all?” Lin Xiao’s icy gaze slowly faded as the killing intent receded like a tide. He turned to Purple Fox. “Aren’t you all on the same side?”
“They were only peripheral members of the organization, expendable. If their deaths could vent your anger and sap your strength, then even if they all died, it would be worth it.” Purple Fox’s voice was icy, filled with cruelty that treated human life as worthless. “Now that the nuisances are dead, let’s talk for a bit before we continue fighting. What do you say?”
Lin Xiao raised an eyebrow. “What do you want to talk about?”
“My name is Purple Fox. I’m one of the Heaven-rank members of the Purifiers, one of the Seven Deadly Sins.”
Purple Fox took a step toward Lin Xiao.
“And you? What’s your name?”
Hearing Purple Fox mention Seven Deadly Sins, Lin Xiao’s heart stirred slightly, though his face remained unreadable.
“Lin Xiao.”
“Lin Xiao, your cold decisiveness, your merciless killing… suits my taste. And your strength isn’t bad either. So I want to invite you to join the Purifiers. Become my comrade.”
Behind her mask, Purple Fox’s eyes shone brightly.
“As long as you agree, all past grievances between you and the Purifiers will be written off. I can even guarantee you’ll become a Heaven-rank member and receive full organizational support. What do you say?”
“Different paths, different goals.” Lin Xiao replied flatly. “I have no interest in joining an organization like yours.”
“Who says we’re a dark organization?”
Purple Fox stopped. She now stood only three meters from Lin Xiao. With Lin Xiao’s keen senses, he could detect a faint, cold fragrance from her.
“The members you killed here, those two, and Night Owl, they were just outer members. They had no idea what the Purifiers are truly about.”
“Oh?” Lin Xiao raised a brow. “If you’re not a dark organization, then what are the Purifiers really?”
“If you join us, you’ll know. To show my sincerity, I can reveal my true face to you.”
Purple Fox lifted a hand and removed her mask, revealing a stunningly beautiful face. Yet on that face was an expression cold as ice.
“Now that you’ve seen my face, you only have two options: agree to join us or be killed by me. Choose.”
“I won’t join the Purifiers. And I don’t want to be killed.” A flicker of unusual light passed through Lin Xiao’s eyes. “But I do have a counter-proposal. Interested?”
Purple Fox’s gaze turned cold as she put her mask back on. Her voice was emotionless. “What proposal?”
“I’m not interested in playing hero. If you promise that the Purifiers will never appear in Jinghai again and won’t come after me, I’ll let you leave safely. Otherwise…”
“Otherwise what?”
“Otherwise, I’ll kill you.”
As the words fell, a powerful killing intent erupted from Lin Xiao’s body.
“Hmph. And you say we walk different paths? How is your behavior any different from ours?” Purple Fox’s tone dripped with sarcasm.
“There is a difference,” Lin Xiao replied coldly. “I have a bottom line. I know why I kill, and who I kill. But you all are different. You kill without restraint, without principle, just to satisfy your own desires. People like you, I’ll kill every last one.”
“I am who I am. Don’t lump me in with them. What they do has nothing to do with me.” Behind the mask, Purple Fox’s eyes gleamed with icy light. “Since you insist on fighting, fine. Let’s settle this with our hands. Let’s see who’s stronger.”
With that, she reached to her waist and slowly drew a soft sword.
This sword was about two and a half feet long, thin as a cicada’s wing. It had no hilt—instead, there was a circular ring. The blade was entirely matte black, with only the edges showing a gleam of silver. It was clearly an assassination weapon.
Purple Fox slipped her index and middle fingers through the ring, flicked her wrist, and the soft sword snapped taut. She spun it into a flourish. A sharp swish swish pierced the air.
Lin Xiao’s pupils narrowed slightly. He hadn’t expected her weapon to be a soft sword.
Soft swords were notoriously difficult to learn and even harder to master. In battle, if not controlled perfectly, they could harm the wielder as easily as the enemy.
For her to wield one in combat showed her extreme confidence in her swordsmanship.
With the soft sword in hand, Purple Fox’s eyes grew sharp and fierce, emitting a chilling brilliance. She raised her arm and pointed the tip directly at Lin Xiao.
“I don’t want to take advantage of you. Where’s your weapon?”
Lin Xiao slowly clenched his hands at his sides. His clothes rustled despite the still air.
“My weapons are my fists. Make your move, no need to hold back.”
