    Chapter Index

Putting aside Wan Ziyue’s moment of stunned silence, the young man beside her, Wan Shiyi, hadn’t noticed anything unusual. He sat down on the sofa angrily, his eyes filled with deep regret and pain.

He owned just 2% of shares in the Brilliant Pharmaceuticals. Though it might not sound like much, considering that the group was worth over a trillion, even a 2% stake amounted to a sky-high figure. It could be considered his most valuable asset.

Now, he fully understood what it meant to “lift a stone only to drop it on one’s own foot.”

Wan Ziyue was caught off guard by how easily Wan Shiyi gave in. Deep down, she was somewhat afraid of Wan Caixuan. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have dragged Wan Shiyi into this in the first place.

“Now it’s your turn. Are you signing, or not?”

A rare glint of playfulness appeared in Wan Caixuan’s usually clear and ethereal eyes

To finally deal with this cunning and unpredictable little sister, even someone as cool and aloof as Wan Caixuan couldn’t help feeling refreshed and pleased.

    “I’m not signing!”

Wan Ziyue stiffened her neck, putting on a look of righteous defiance.

“What can you do to me? I’m your little sister. What, are you going to kill me? Hmph!”

“I wouldn’t kill you, of course. But I will teach you a lesson,” Wan Caixuan said with arms crossed and chin raised slightly. “Wan Ziyue, I suggest you sign it willingly. Otherwise, don’t blame me if you regret it later.”

“Bring out whatever tortures you’ve got. If I even frown, I’m not worthy of being a true heroine,” Wan Ziyue said coldly, face tense, her expression remarkably similar to Wan Caixuan’s.

Ning Xi walked in carrying two thin stacks of documents. She handed one to Wan Shiyi sitting on the sofa and the other to Wan Ziyue.

Wan Shiyi read through the document several times carefully. His face contorted in pain, and with a trembling hand, he signed his name. He looked utterly drained, as though he had lost all strength.

Wan Ziyue, on the other hand, tore the document to pieces. She tossed the shreds into the air, watching them flutter like snowflakes, and looked at Wan Caixuan with a provocative gaze.

“Third Sister, may I leave now?”

Afraid that Wan Caixuan might change her mind, Wan Shiyi quickly pushed the document toward her and asked anxiously.

Wan Caixuan casually picked up the document, skimmed through it, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips. She waved her hand.

“Go on. Take your people with you.”

Wan Shiyi let out a sigh of relief. His expression darkened, and without saying another word, he got up and walked toward the meeting room door.

When passing by Lin Xiao, he paused for a second, snorted coldly through his nose, and muttered just loud enough for only the two of them to hear, “Lin Xiao, right? I’ll remember you.”

Lin Xiao’s expression remained calm, utterly unmoved by Wan Shiyi’s words.

Feeling a bit humiliated, Wan Shiyi glared at Lin Xiao before quickly leaving the meeting room.

Not long after he left, several bruised and battered men walked in, carefully helped Uncle Meng up, and quickly took him away.

Out in the corridor, the four pretty girls that Lin Xiao had previously knocked away slowly got back on their feet.

Even though Lin Xiao had held back in the earlier confrontation, they were still badly shaken, as if they’d been hit by speeding cars.

They leaned on each other, limping toward the meeting room door. Like four statues, they stood silently, neither entering nor leaving.

It wasn’t that they didn’t want to enter the meeting room, but that they didn’t dare.

Even though they had undergone harsh and cruel training from a young age and were indifferent to life and death with wills of steel, they couldn’t summon even a shred of courage in the face of Lin Xiao’s overwhelming power.

They understood clearly: if Lin Xiao wished to, he could kill them with just one finger.

That was precisely why they didn’t launch another attack. It would be utterly meaningless.

Lin Xiao’s pupils shifted slightly. His indifferent gaze swept over the four girls. Confirming that they posed no threat and bore no killing intent, he no longer paid them any attention.

“Wan Ziyue, have your people leave.”

Wan Caixuan set down the document and gazed at Wan Ziyue.

“Unless, of course, you want them to see you make a fool of yourself?”

“Sister, you really plan to punish me?” Wan Ziyue finally began to panic. She clung to Wan Caixuan’s arm, gently shaking it, speaking pitifully, “I was wrong this time. Just forgive me, okay? I won’t dare do it again.”

“Since we were young, how many times have you messed up? When have I ever not forgiven you?” Wan Caixuan said coolly. “But not this time. You actually colluded with Wan Shiyi to target me. If I don’t teach you a lesson, it won’t do.”

“I didn’t do anything wrong! These are the family’s rules, aren’t they? The family named the five of us as heirs and let us compete with each other. I can’t just do nothing, right?” Wan Ziyue pouted, face full of grievance. “Besides, I was very restrained. I only had the building sealed off. Sister, aren’t you overreacting?”

“Make a bet, take the loss. Did you forget your own words already?” Wan Caixuan remained cold and unmoved. “I don’t care what excuses you have. I don’t want to hear any of it. Anything more is just a waste of breath. I’ll give you two choices. First, sign the agreement, transfer your shares of Brilliant Pharmaceutics to me, and leave quietly. Second, I’ll teach you a lesson and then force you to sign. You choose.”

From Wan Caixuan’s icy expression, Wan Ziyue could tell that her third sister wasn’t joking. She was determined to deal with her. Wan Ziyue grew uneasy and began thinking of escape.

“Fine, I choose the first one.”

She said this, but her body began to back away slowly, then suddenly turned and ran.

“As if! I’m not choosing either—hmph!”

She ran quickly, her long, snow-white legs striding forward. Her hair flew, her skirt fluttered, and in a blink, she left Wan Caixuan and Ning Xi behind.

But Wan Caixuan had already anticipated this. She didn’t move, only raised her voice, “Lin Xiao, stop her.”

Hearing Wan Caixuan’s command, Lin Xiao, who was standing by the door, extended his arm and blocked Wan Ziyue’s escape path.

But Wan Ziyue’s body was extremely nimble. A sly glint flashed in her beautiful eyes. She ducked low and darted forward, trying to slip under Lin Xiao’s arm.

However, no matter how agile she was, she was no match for Lin Xiao.

Lin Xiao shifted his stance slightly, and in the next moment, he appeared directly in front of her.

Wan Ziyue, with her head lowered and charging forward, didn’t see Lin Xiao in time. Completely unprepared, she slammed right into his chest.

    “Ah!”

It felt like she had hit a mountain. She cried out in pain, staggered backward, and lost her balance, falling to the floor.

Lin Xiao reacted quickly and wrapped an arm around her slender waist.

But Wan Ziyue didn’t show the slightest gratitude. Once she recovered from the shock, she started to struggle wildly, like an angry little kitten, raising her fair fists and pounding on Lin Xiao’s chest.

“Let go of me! You jerk, let go of me!”

Lin Xiao complied without hesitation and released her immediately.

Wan Ziyue landed flat on the floor in a rather indecent pose, making full contact with the ground. Her scream cut off abruptly.

She hadn’t expected Lin Xiao to let go, and for a moment, she was stunned. Her beautiful eyes widened, her mouth hung open, and she was completely dazed.

Seeing Wan Ziyue in such an awkward state, Ning Xi covered her mouth with a hand, struggling to hold back laughter.

Even Wan Caixuan revealed a faint smile, the icy expression on her face slightly melting.

“Young Miss, are you alright?” the four girls at the door asked in unison.

They took a step forward, seemingly wanting to approach Wan Ziyue, but were frozen in place by a single cold glance from Lin Xiao.

That one look—cold, indifferent, full of warning.

Wan Ziyue remained frozen for several seconds before finally realizing what had happened. Her gorgeous face turned bright red. She scrambled to her feet, eyes blazing with anger as she glared at Lin Xiao.

    “Why did you let go?!”

“Didn’t you say to let go?” Lin Xiao replied calmly.

Wan Ziyue was furious. “You did it on purpose! You’ve got some nerve! Do you even know who I am?”

“I know. You’re a Miss of the Wan family,” Lin Xiao said flatly.

“And you still dare talk to me like that?” Wan Ziyue grew angrier, gritting her teeth as if she wanted to bite him.

Lin Xiao raised an eyebrow: “Did I say anything wrong?”

    “You… you… you… idiot!”

Wan Ziyue pointed at Lin Xiao, so angry she couldn’t speak. In the end, she ground her teeth and shouted the word, “Idiot!”

If he weren’t an idiot, how could he treat a cute, beautiful girl like her this way?

Usually so clever and cunning, she now found herself utterly stumped by this “idiot” Lin Xiao—like a mouse trying to bite a turtle with no weak spots.

Lin Xiao’s cool indifference even made her begin to doubt her charm.

While the two were talking, Wan Caixuan and Ning Xi also walked over. Wan Caixuan stopped beside Lin Xiao and fixed her gaze on Wan Ziyue.

“I’ll ask you one last time. Are you going to admit defeat and get this over with or keep wasting time?”
