Chapter 294: A Quick Throw and Bare-Handed Rescue!
by tinytreeHardy went down face-first, hitting the ground hard.
“Hardy!” Valsey yelled, panicked.
Without thinking, he whipped the knife in his hand straight at the Boni Spider hovering above. Incredibly, his throw sliced off one of the spider’s legs.
The Boni Spider writhed in pain, its twisted eyes zeroing in on Werner. Now it was mad.
“It’s coming for me!” Werner shouted, watching as the spider darted toward him with lightning speed.
Its movement was like teleportation, closing the gap in an instant. Valsey’s throwing hand was already tied up tight in its web, and his other arm was pinned down too. He couldn’t move.
“Captain!”
“Werner, watch out!”
Everyone froze as the Boni Spider lunged toward his face. If it latched on, even the gas mask wouldn’t be much help. They all saw the spider’s underside—rows of jagged spines, sharp as needles, about ten centimeters long. If those things pierced his skin, venomous or not, the damage would be brutal.
It all happened so fast.
Staring down death, Werner froze. His mind was mind blank. He couldn’t even think. This wasn’t just the end of his time on the show—it was the end of his career.
Just as everyone thought Werner was done for, a torch came flying down out of nowhere.
It was fast, accurate, and brutal.
Like swatting a fly, the torch knocked the spider out of the air. Its silk threads snapped instantly. The Boni spider crashed to the ground with a thud, and flames spread quickly across its body. The spider twisted in agony, its body shaking violently.
“Where did that fire come from?!”
Everyone stared, completely stunned by the sudden turn of events. They were frozen in place.
It all happened so fast!
“A little creature like that, and you all let it toy with you. You think you can come after me? What a joke.”
A cold, sharp voice echoed around them, bouncing off the trees and swirling through the thick fog.
“It’s him! Wang Yun, it’s Wang Yun!” Marley shouted, finally able to speak.
His eyes were still covered in webbing, and he couldn’t see a thing. But when you can’t see, your hearing gets sharper. He could hear Wang Yun’s voice clear as day, cutting through the mist.
The poison fog around them didn’t fade, it hung thick and heavy, as intense as ever.
“What? Wang Yun! Quick, let’s move faster!”
When Hardy realized it was Wang Yun, he forced himself to push down the shock. He didn’t think about how Wang Yun had found them, or how he’d managed to throw that torch with such perfect accuracy. He didn’t dwell on the fact that Wang Yun had just saved them. All he could think about was whether Wang Yun might try to take them out.
“Wang Yun, if you’ve got guts, show yourself! Stop hiding in the shadows,” Alfa shouted into the fog.
The group of eight felt totally helpless. Just moments ago, they had barely survived a deadly battle with the spider. Now, they were face-to-face with Wang Yun under these dire circumstances.
Their arms and legs were all tangled in spider silk, keeping them pinned down. The boni spider was nothing but a pile of ashes now, burned to a crisp. But its threads, tough as steel cables, were still wrapped around them, stretching out from where its body had once been. They couldn’t move an inch.
This was beyond creepy. Panic began to set in. They couldn’t even budge.
Meanwhile, viewers watching their livestream were buzzing with all kinds of opinions.
“I looked up that spider just now—terrifying stuff!”
“Yeah, its most venomous weapon is that row of ten-centimeter barbs underneath. When they extend, they’re longer than the spider itself!”
“I saw that too. If you get stung, the venom spreads through your body in half an hour!”
“Is Alfa nuts? Wang Yun may be a criminal, but he just saved you, and now he’s trying to provoke him?”
“Oh man, Wang Yun showing up at this exact moment… talk about being caught off guard!”
“But forget all that for a second, did you guys even see the speed, angle, and force of that torch throw? He took out the spider in one shot! That thing had eight guys completely immobilized with its web!”
Someone in the chat posted this, and it set off a storm. Everyone was still reeling from what had just happened and hadn’t yet grasped the most critical point.
Wang Yun took out a venomous spider with one hit.
And those eight guys? They nearly died tangled up in that web.
In other words, Wang Yun could easily take down all eight of them, no problem.
“So this is how you treat someone who saved your lives?”
A shadowy figure stepped out from the poison fog. Wang Yun strolled toward them with his hands in his pockets. His expression was hidden behind his mask, but the mocking tone in his voice was unmistakable.
Werner felt like crying. How had things turned out like this?
Fate was seriously messing with him. One minute it was a deadly spider, the next, it was Wang Yun. One meant certain death, and the other… well, total elimination.
