Chapter 402: My wife and kid are die-hard fans of yours!
by tinytreeThe house was a single-level unit. One stairwell, one household. A quick glance around told Wang Yun it was about 280 square meters.
Standing at the entrance, the first thing he saw was a hallway.
To the left: a glass display cabinet running the entire length.
Inside the cabinet: motion-activated light strips.
To the right: a solid wall.
And on that wall hung a massive oil painting.
This painting instantly elevated the space. When you stepped inside, you could feel the high-end luxury oozing from every detail.
“Holy shit!”
Wang Yun swore for the first time. Not out of anger—he was genuinely shocked. It was just an emotional outburst.
“And this is what you call small?!”
He couldn’t help shouting. The moment he did, a soft voice chimed in automatically.
“Welcome home, sir. How may I assist you?”
“What the hell? It’s fully smart too?”
Right now, Wang Yun looked like a country bumpkin who’d just stumbled into the big city—utterly dumbfounded.
A spacious living room. A dazzling crystal chandelier hung overhead. And massive floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a clear view of Magic City’s moat.
At night, he’d be able to see the entire city skyline from here.
There was even a classy, elegant dining area.
Everything was fully equipped—appliances, utensils, you name it. The plates and cutlery all bore logos matching the ones on the clothes the show had given him.
Not only that, the place had two bathrooms, three bedrooms, a separate office, and a walk-in closet.
Each bedroom had its own distinct design style, and the bedding felt luxuriously smooth to the touch. Even the tiniest corners of the house were decorated with refined, artistic detail.
Wang Yun wasn’t a fool. He’d never bought property in Magic City, but judging by the location and the quality of the decor, this place had to be worth at least thirty or forty million.
“Director Zhou really went all out. Are people in the entertainment industry all this rich?”
Up until now, that 400 million he won hadn’t felt real to him.
Just a number in his bank account.
This house, though—this was tangible.
“This… is the life.”
Wang Yun wandered through the home and finally collapsed onto the couch. It was soft as a cloud, wrapping around him completely.
In that moment, Wang Yun experienced a level of comfort he’d never felt before.
Not even five minutes in, he passed out cold.
By the time he woke up, it was already evening.
“Damn, the internet wasn’t lying. Waking up to a dark sky really does make you emo.”
Still groggy, Wang Yun stood at the window, looking out over the scenery.
The streets were even more crowded than during the day, full of handsome men and beautiful women. Everyone wore a smile—except for the exhausted workers just getting off their shifts, trudging along with heavy steps.
Something stirred in Wang Yun’s heart.
If he hadn’t joined the show… if he hadn’t gotten the system…
Wouldn’t he be one of those people down there, dragging his feet after a long day?
Just as he was getting sentimental, his phone buzzed. It was Director Zhou.
“Brother Wang! You’ve arrived in Magic City, right?”
At this point, aside from Xiao Gang and Brother Hu, Director Zhou was the person Wang Yun was most familiar with.
You could say they were half-friends.
“I’m here. Thanks for arranging the house, Director Zhou,” Wang Yun said with a smile.
He walked over to the fridge while talking. Inside were shelves full of imported wines and beverages.
The kitchen cupboards were stocked with snacks and ready-to-eat meals.
It was all incredibly thoughtful.
Wang Yun was thoroughly impressed.
“As long as you like it, Brother Wang,” Director Zhou replied. “I just got back to Magic City myself. If you don’t mind, why not come over to my place for a bit? Of course, if you’ve got other plans, feel free. I just thought… things were so hectic the past few days, we never really got a proper chat.”
Director Zhou’s voice over the phone was cautious, almost tentative.
He’d been away for a while, just now returning home.
Who wouldn’t want to spend time with their family?
But he didn’t have that luxury. The moment Wang Yun was out of sight, his heart was on edge.
Too many people on the outside were eyeing Wang Yun. What if someone made him a tempting offer?
If the contract wasn’t signed in time and someone snatched away their golden goose, the whole show would collapse.
Without Wang Yun, who would still tune in?
After a month of watching him up close, Director Zhou could tell Wang Yun wasn’t the greedy type. On the contrary, he valued relationships. That’s why Director Zhou hoped to use emotional ties to keep him grounded.
“Director Zhou, you just got back, and you’re already inviting me over? Aren’t you afraid your wife’s gonna be mad?”
Wang Yun was in great spirits. At least he had someone to talk to.
Otherwise, being alone in this giant house really would really make him emo.
“Mad? She’s thrilled! You have no idea; my wife and kid are hardcore fans of yours. The moment they found out the show was on hiatus, they started clamoring to meet you. That’s why I thickened my skin and dared to ask if you’d come over.”
Director Zhou played it just right—smooth, casual, nothing forced.
Granted, his wife hadn’t actually said she wanted to meet Wang Yun. But it was true—they were both huge fans.
Wang Yun thought about the house Director Zhou had arranged, and without putting on any airs, he agreed.
“Alright. Send me the address, I’m heading over now.”
