Chapter 448: You’re Messing Around! Stop It Now!
by tinytreeThe crowd watched as Wang Yun continued his focused rescue efforts.
One by one, they stepped back of their own accord, too tense to interrupt.
One strike. Two. Three.
With each rhythmic blow Wang Yun delivered to Xiaoyong’s chest, the tension in the room climbed.
Every thud made the onlookers clench their fists tighter.
This wasn’t just a rescue anymore; it was a race against time. A tug-of-war with death itself.
No one had expected a lighthearted challenge to spiral into a life-or-death emergency.
Tap, tap—
Suddenly, a rush of footsteps echoed up from the stairwell.
“Where’s the patient?!”
The voice arrived before the man himself.
It was Xiao Qian, panic etched across his face as he led the way.
Behind him, two middle-aged men followed, dressed in white coats and surgical masks, medical kits in hand.
“Over here! He’s here!”
Supervisor Zhang spotted them and shouted, waving frantically.
Normally, there were four on-call medical professionals stationed in the neighborhood—an elite community required elite support. Their job was to provide emergency care to residents.
But because Xiaoyong was staff, not a resident, no one had thought to call them until one quick-thinking owner did.
“What’s his condition?” one of the doctors asked as they approached.
“Dr. Zhao,” Supervisor Zhang stammered, “he collapsed after running at extreme speeds. Started vomiting. We tried to give him water, but he couldn’t swallow it. He’s unconscious now. His pulse is through the roof. Mr. Wang says his body’s hit its limit. That his heart can’t take the load and might go into shock any second!”
Supervisor Zhang spilled the details in a flustered rush.
But the moment Dr. Zhao stepped closer and caught sight of what was happening at the center of the crowd, his expression darkened.
Wang Yun was kneeling over Xiaoyong, shirt torn open, driving calculated fists into his chest.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” Dr. Zhao barked.
“He’s saving him!” one of the owners replied.
“This guy, he said Coach Xiaoyong’s heart rate is out of control. He’s using external force to help regulate it.”
Another owner chimed in hesitantly. “It’s… supposed to help the heart keep its rhythm?”
But their voices lacked conviction.
Everyone had the same unspoken doubt: Was this even a real thing?
If the heart stopped, sure, CPR made sense. But when someone’s heart was beating too fast, wasn’t it dangerous to strike it?
To the untrained eye, Wang Yun’s actions seemed more harmful than helpful.
Still, no one dared step in, not yet.
What if it actually worked?
Who would take responsibility if they stopped him and Xiaoyong died?
Dr. Zhao yanked off his mask and growled, “This is nonsense!”
But the second he realized Wang Yun was a resident—an owner—his tone softened. He couldn’t afford to offend the wrong person.
He approached slowly.
“Sir, please stop. What you’re doing could make things worse.”
Xiaoyong’s face had already turned a disturbing shade, somewhere between grey and purple.
It was clear things were going downhill, fast.
But Wang Yun didn’t stop.
He felt Xiaoyong’s heart rate was finally slowing under the external regulation.
Not drastically, but enough that one more minute of this could bring it back into a stable rhythm.
“You’re not listening!” Dr. Zhao snapped. “Wen, stop him!”
His colleague, also in a white coat, stepped forward, reaching out to grab Wang Yun.
But the moment their hands came near—
Snap!
Wang Yun’s eyes shot up, cold and sharp as steel. The intensity of his glare made both doctors freeze mid-motion.
“Don’t touch me,” he said in a low, commanding voice.
His hands never stopped.
“You—!”
“If you’ve got a better way to save him, say it now. If not, shut up. He doesn’t have time.”
Dr. Zhao opened his mouth, but no words came out.
“I…” he stammered.
“We really don’t,” his colleague murmured beside him. “In his current condition, even if we leave him untouched, he won’t survive another ten minutes. The nearest hospital is at least a half-hour out. He’ll never make it.”
Though the man’s voice was soft, everyone around heard it loud and clear.
Then came the backlash.
“What the hell?! You’re going to kill him!”
“The doctors said no, stop it already!”
“The ambulance is on its way! Even if it takes a while, maybe he can hold out!”
“You can’t play with someone’s life like this, even if you’re a resident!”
“Yeah! You mess this up, you’ll be responsible for murder!”
Two nearby owners couldn’t hold back any longer.
After overhearing the conversation between the doctors, panic overtook them. They lunged toward Wang Yun and reached for his arms.
