Who else could possibly know where he lived?

Director Zhou had just spoken with him on the phone last night before leaving town.

Aside from Zhou, there was only that mysterious figure left. And just thinking of that person filled Wang Yun’s mind with questions.

He had a strong feeling that the mysterious person would try to meet him soon.

So… who was knocking at his door right now?

Wang Yun thought for a moment, then got up and opened it.

Outside stood three men and one woman, all around thirty years old—except for one man who looked to be in his forties.

“Mr. Wang, sorry for the sudden visit,” the eldest man greeted him with a friendly smile.

Wang Yun looked at them, puzzled.

    “And you are…?”

“I’m Luo Fei. I sent you a text earlier, maybe you didn’t see it,” the man said, still smiling politely.

Indeed, Luo Fei had messaged Wang Yun, but Wang Yun had ignored it at the time.

Seeing Wang Yun’s impassive expression, Luo Fei continued cheerfully, “These are also residents of our community, and members of the neighborhood owners’ committee. We’re hosting a banquet tomorrow evening and would love for you to join us.”

“Please don’t be too quick to decline,” he added quickly, sensing Wang Yun’s likely reaction.

“Yes, Mr. Wang. After watching that video of you saving someone the other day, we were all hoping to get to know you,” the only woman in the group chimed in warmly, “Now, we can’t say that every member of the committee is some big shot, but within Magic City, they’re certainly among the most influential people. I truly believe that attending this banquet would benefit you, and of course, it would be an honor for us to meet you.”

Her words were more direct than Luo Fei’s—clearly hinting that this wasn’t an event just anyone could attend.

Everyone in the community had connections. That was the entire reason the owners’ committee was formed.

    Wang Yun raised an eyebrow.

“Sorry, I’m really not that interested,” he said coolly.

Luo Fei and the others clearly expected this. They didn’t look surprised; they just smiled faintly.

“Still, don’t turn us down just yet,” Luo Fei pressed. “You bought the most expensive property in this entire neighborhood. We understand the kind of person you are.”

“Like a reclusive master, not fond of social gatherings,” he added with a chuckle.

Just as Luo Fei was about to continue persuading him, the woman spoke up again.

“Mr. Wang, it would honestly be such a pity if you missed this one. One of our residents, Miss Bingbing, will be there. She happens to be in the neighborhood right now and attends every day. Oh, and Mr. Xiaoming too.”

She casually dropped two names, both instantly recognizable celebrities.

But when Wang Yun heard them, he couldn’t muster any interest.

Honestly, his fame these days far outshone theirs. The only reason these people didn’t realize that was because they didn’t know who he truly was.

“I…” Wang Yun was just about to decline again when a memory flashed through his mind.

    Xiao Yanran’s phone wallpaper… wasn’t that Bingbing?

She had even told him before that Bingbing was her favorite celebrity. If she ever had the chance to meet her, she said, she wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Unfortunately, Bingbing had recently run into trouble in the entertainment industry and was now semi-retired.

“Alright. Brother Luo, send me the time and location later.”

    His answer came quickly.

Luo Fei and the others froze for a moment. This was a sudden change of heart.

Then, smiles broke across their faces.

    Still young. Definitely a star-chaser.

“Great! I’ll pull you into the group chat,” Luo Fei said, beaming.

They exchanged contact info at the door, and once they confirmed Wang Yun had joined the group, the four finally nodded in satisfaction.

Wang Yun never once invited them inside, but none of them took offense.

People with money and power value their privacy. The higher up someone is, the more others want to curry favor with them.

It’s always the most ordinary people who get brushed off.

That’s just the strange psychology of the wealthy.

“Good thing Sister Man mentioned there’d be a celebrity. No matter how rich or powerful he is, a young man can’t resist a beauty,” someone joked as they walked down the hallway.

“Haha, talk about yourself! Didn’t I hear from Old Li that you’ve been hanging out with some internet celeb again? Better hope your wife doesn’t find out!”

“Don’t listen to him, he’s full of it. I just had dinner with her. She was the one who called me, alright?”

Wang Yun could still hear them joking outside after closing the door.

They seemed very pleased that he’d agreed to attend.

That’s just how business works—building one more relationship might be the key to striking it rich.

Sitting down on the sofa, Wang Yun picked up his phone and texted Xiao Yanran right away.

“I’ll come pick you up tomorrow night. Got a little surprise for you. Remember to wear the dress I bought you~”

    Her reply came instantly.

“What surprise? Stop buying me stuff!” from Yanran.

“I’ve been watching a ton of cooking videos lately. Just tell me what you want to eat—I’ll make it for you,” from Yanran.

“Don’t waste money like that!” from Yanran.

    Ding, ding, ding—

She kept replying one message after another. She was sure Wang Yun was planning to splurge again!
