    Chapter Index

Bingbing accepted the tea and casually opened the box to take a look. She hadn’t thought much of it at first. But the moment she laid eyes on it, she froze in shock.

    This was top-grade Maojian.

She recognized the packaging. She’d once seen the exact same box on the desk of a powerful industry insider. Back then, during a private meeting, that man had mysteriously taken it out to serve them.

But he’d only brewed a small portion, not much at all.

After they’d gone through seven or eight pots, he’d reluctantly stashed the rest away and brought out a different tea instead.

“Mhm, as long as you like it,” Wang Yun said with a faint smile.

    Still, he was quietly surprised.

Clearly, that old man had been generous to offer something that could leave even a global superstar stunned. It had to be the real deal.

Bingbing stared at the two boxes of tea. She was unable to hide her delight. These were far more valuable than any gift she’d received before. Especially since tea like this wasn’t available on the open market. Or rather, no amount of money could easily buy it.

“I really didn’t expect you to get your hands on something like this, Brother Wang Yun,” she said. “You know, if this tea were ever sold publicly, people would pay tens of thousands per tael, and even then, demand would far exceed supply.”

She held the boxes tightly, reluctant to set them down.

“So expensive?” Xiao Yanran exclaimed in awe.

The boxes didn’t look like much, but together they probably weighed about half a kilo.

That would make the total value well into the six figures.

No wonder Wang Yun had joked earlier that Bingbing might end up giving them gifts before they left.

    So this was the reason.

Seeing Xiao Yanran’s reaction, Bingbing assumed she was reluctant to part with the tea.

She was just about to offer them one of the boxes when Xiao Yanran’s next words completely warmed her heart.

“Brother Wang Yun, I misunderstood you earlier,” she said earnestly. “I thought it was a bit lacking to bring only two boxes of tea to someone like my idol. But now I understand. I’ve let go of those doubts. My idol deserves nothing less than the best the world has to offer.”

As she spoke, her eyes brimmed with admiration as she looked at Bingbing.

Bingbing could tell instantly whether someone was sincere or just putting on an act. And in Xiao Yanran’s case, it was clearly heartfelt—genuine affection, no pretense.

She truly believed that Bingbing deserved this kind of respect.

“Alright, if you keep talking like that, I’m going to get jealous,” Wang Yun said with a chuckle, ruffling her hair.

This silly girl really did love idol-chasing.

“Aiya, look at me! I was so happy I forgot to serve you two properly,” Bingbing said with a grin. “Come, come, let’s eat!”

She eagerly pulled Xiao Yanran by the hand and led her toward the dining room.

The interior design of her home was light and elegant, very minimalist. Everywhere you looked was clean and simple, without a hint of clutter.

It left you feeling refreshed and at ease.

“Let’s have hotpot today. I bought all the ingredients myself,” Bingbing said. “I also made three cold dishes. You two better not complain.”

She gestured proudly toward the dining table.

    It was absolutely packed.

The large round table, big enough for eight, was covered with plates—abalone, sea cucumber, and even a massive Australian lobster. To the side were plates of fruit and several cold dishes. The cold dishes didn’t look quite as extravagant by comparison, but they gave off a distinct homemade charm.

“You really went all out. Honestly, I’ll eat anything,” Wang Yun said, slightly touched.

His opinion of Bingbing had shifted yet again.

He’d told her he was willing to help, and any normal person would’ve gone the extra mile with the hospitality.

But the fact that she’d taken the time to prepare some of the dishes herself showed real sincerity.

For that alone, he felt he hadn’t chosen the wrong person to help.

As for what she needed help with… that conversation was coming soon.

“I also prepared two bottles of good wine,” Bingbing said as she pulled out a decanter and expertly handled it. “To be honest, very few people ever visit my home. Let alone get the chance to eat food I’ve made myself.”

    Her movements were practiced, down-to-earth.

“I can feel that,” Wang Yun said. “So don’t blame me later when I eat everything. I’ll make sure there are no leftovers.”

Rolling up his sleeves, he popped a crystal grape into his mouth without ceremony.

    “Perfect!”

Bingbing laughed, seeing how casually he was behaving, and finally relaxed completely.

Soon, the hotpot came to a boil. Xiao Yanran took the lead, placing ingredients into the bubbling soup.

Wang Yun, naturally, handled the eating.

They had assumed Bingbing, as a celebrity, would be dieting, but to their surprise, she ate just as much as Wang Yun did.

“You’ve really shattered my stereotype of female celebrities,” he teased. “You eat more than I do.”

Bingbing’s hearty laugh echoed as she took a big bite of meat.

“I’m semi-retired after that incident anyway. These days, I only do photo shoots for people I know, and everything gets retouched in post. So I figured I might as well indulge for a bit.”

As she spoke, she rolled up her sleeves and grabbed the wine glass again.

The crisp clink of glasses rang out, light and joyful.

Then Wang Yun took a sip of red wine, set the glass down, and finally got to the point.

“I know who was behind that thing that happened to you.”
