Chapter 487: A Ruthless New Rule — The Hunt Begins
by tinytreeWhat?!
Wang Yun alone is worth five hundred people?!
The moment Mr. He announced the new rules, everyone on-site and everyone watching the broadcast was stunned.
What the hell kind of advantage was that? This was practically designed to turn Wang Yun into the star of the show!
If he alone was worth five hundred points, what was the point of going after anyone else? Just target Wang Yun and be done with it!
“Heavens, I’m done chasing anyone else. I’m going straight for Wang Yun!”
“Same here! And don’t any of you try to take him from us. Wang Yun’s ours!”
“Whoever’s got the skill, step up. Don’t just talk big, I’ll have Wang Yun kneeling at my feet!”
Some of the program inspectors and captains began boasting loudly, as if Wang Yun had already been captured and tied up by them.
Only the three team captains from Dragon Kingdom and the enforcers behind them remained still, shaking their heads slightly.
Their faces were expressionless, tinged with subtle mockery at the others’ arrogant claims.
Catch Wang Yun?
Heh. Maybe in your dreams.
“In a bit, just focus on the A-class fugitives,” Zhao Youcheng murmured quietly to the people behind him. “As for Wang Yun… let fate decide.”
The others nodded in tacit agreement.
That made the viewers in front of their screens burst out laughing.
“Hah! Only our Dragon Kingdom folks really get our own people!”
“Catch Wang Yun? My big bro? Dream on!”
“I noticed it’s those newly added inspection teams that are acting all cocky. You won’t be smug for long. My brother’s about to teach you a lesson!”
“Speaking of which, now that the rules have changed for the enforcers, does that mean Brother Yun’s side has new rules too? Mr. He just said that the people around him are worth twenty points each!”
“So that means Brother Yun has teammates?”
“Isn’t it just Xiao Gang and Old Hu?”
The chat barrage quickly shifted focus—now everyone was talking about Wang Yun.
Mr. He, seemingly aware of what the viewers were thinking, glanced around the crowd and raised his hand for silence.
In an instant, the chatter died down.
“Everyone should now be clear on the rules for our program enforcers,” he began. “Likewise, the fugitives have their own mission objectives.”
As he said this, the atmosphere turned serious.
Mr. He didn’t beat around the bush.
“This time, the fugitives’ main goal is simple: escape. Avoid getting caught. And their secondary goal is to strike back at the inspectors.”
What?!
Strike back at the inspectors?!
The field erupted with disbelief.
“Mr. He, what do you mean by that?” asked Skelan Matyev, head of the Skelan Police Family from the nation of Iso.
Mr. He chuckled softly.
“To put it plainly, this time, the fugitives will actively engage you. Eliminate a regular inspector? That’s 100,000 in reward money. Take down an elite inspector? That’ll net them a million. Bring down a captain? Ten million! And on top of that—starting from Day 7, every additional day a fugitive survives will earn them another hundred thousand.”
Hiss!
Holy shit!
As Mr. He finished, everyone on the stage and in front of their screens gasped in unison. You could practically hear the collective inhale.
“This… this is practically forcing them to come after us!” Wu Yaoming said, visibly shaken.
Wu Mingyu nodded beside him. “Yeah. This is nothing like last season. I have a bad feeling we’re going to see some serious retaliation from Wang Yun.”
Zhao Youcheng gave a dry chuckle. “As if we haven’t had our fair share of that already.”
The three of them exchanged wary glances.
“Fugitives attacking us proactively? They wouldn’t dare, even if they had ten lives!”
“Don’t be so sure,” someone interjected suddenly. “We’re forbidden from forming alliances, but the rules never said the fugitives couldn’t.”
That remark fell like a thunderclap among the crowd, silencing the murmurs in an instant.
Alliances?
Come to think of it… There really was no rule saying they couldn’t.
Mr. He heard the whispering and nodded with a smile.
“Correct. You guessed it, fugitives are allowed to form alliances. Moreover, that S-rank fugitive is already leading a small team of seven. Of course, how strong those teammates are… no one knows yet.”
Each sentence from Mr. He landed like a bombshell, sending shockwaves through the crowd.
“A seven-man team?! Dammit, he’s already S-rank. Now his team might be as strong as an entire enforcer unit!”
“This is insane!”
“This is practically a deathmatch! These new rules are way too brutal!”
Everyone was caught off guard. Some enforcers even began drafting their strategies on the spot.
The tension was palpable. They could all feel the pressure bearing down.
Just then, a loud alarm rang out across the field.
Ding ding ding!
“Attention, all program inspectors! Attention!”
“The first fugitive has left the airport. The hunt has officially begun!”
“The first fugitive has left the airport. The escape is underway!”
