    Ten thousand yuan!

Everyone went crazy. They no longer cared about anything else, they lunged straight at Wang Yun.

Mao Guo was a local. He would never go back on his word. As long as they could get that ten thousand yuan, they’d do whatever it took.

Meanwhile, the livestream viewers were going wild too.

One after another, they began flooding the screen with bullet comments. In the previous program-organized livestreams, the gifting function had been disabled.

But Wang Yun didn’t know how to manage that sort of thing, so he’d left it on by default.

As a result, the gifts were pouring in like a never-ending rain of digital confetti.

    One after another, nonstop.

Eventually, the chat was so packed with animated gifts that Wang Yun couldn’t even see what Wanwan CrescentMoon was saying.

All he knew was: he couldn’t stay on this second floor anymore.

Why? Because the ever-resourceful villagers had started hoisting people up with a construction crane hook.

“Boss, run!” Xiao Gang shouted, truly panicked now.

He hadn’t expected Mao Yan and his father to stoop so low.

All just to catch Wang Yun—using whatever means necessary.

    “Relax. They won’t catch me.”

Wang Yun, standing at the edge of the second floor, confidently flashed Xiao Gang a reassuring gesture.

And then—next second—he began climbing to the third floor.

This house was fairly standard in height.

But since it was still under construction, there were cement slabs and steel beams all around.

For someone like Wang Yun, whose climbing skills were top-notch, scaling to the top floor in one go was no problem at all.

Wang Yun might not be afraid, but that didn’t mean the villagers weren’t.

Most of them were older folks in their fifties or sixties, staying behind in the village to watch over the children.

They’d never seen someone just climb up walls like this before.

    And without any safety equipment?

The sight made those who’d been ready to grab Wang Yun hesitate.

“Hey, young man, stop climbing! Don’t go getting yourself killed!”

“If someone dies, none of us here will be able to escape responsibility! Come down, we won’t chase you anymore!”

“Aiya, my poor heart can’t take this. He’s up on the fourth floor already, and the rebar up there isn’t even secured!”

“Brother, let’s talk it out! Don’t risk your life, we won’t catch you, promise!”

“Boss, if this goes on, someone’s going to get seriously hurt!”

    At that moment, everyone panicked.

    Even the workers backed off.

If it were just the second floor, sure, maybe a fall wouldn’t be fatal.

But a slip from the third or fourth floor?

You’re paralyzed for life, best-case scenario.

The workers stood frozen on the second floor, watching Wang Yun’s agile ascent. Right hand gripping tight, left foot bracing upward—he could cover a meter in a single step.

    They were terrified.

    They waved their hands.

“Ten thousand yuan’s not worth it. Not if someone ends up taking the fall for it.”

One of the workers, younger than the rest, waved his hand and headed back down to the first floor, muttering under his breath.

    The rest followed suit.

This left Mao Yan and his father stomping their feet in frustration on the first floor.

“Get up there already! What are you afraid of?! If he’s not scared, why are you?!” Mao Yan shrieked. “Don’t you want the money anymore?!”

He roared, watching worker after worker descend. He was so angry that he looked like a monkey throwing a tantrum.

“If you want someone up there, go yourself!” snapped the young worker who’d backed down first. “What if you push him too far and something bad happens? Who’s going to take responsibility?”

That only made Mao Yan more furious.

    Smack!

He stepped forward and slapped the young man hard on the forehead.

“I’ll take the damn responsibility! You want to keep your job or not?! If you do, get up there and catch him! Otherwise, don’t even think about getting paid for this job!”

His outburst sent the workers into chaos.

“You—how can you be like this?! That’s two different things!”

“I’ve followed you for so long! You can’t just decide not to pay me!”

“What the hell? Now you’re making threats?!”

Mao Yan’s threat had completely backfired. The workers surrounded him, voices rising in protest.

Watching from the side, Mao Guo was so mad he nearly punched his disgrace of a son right there on the spot.

    He couldn’t do anything right.

“Hey, hey, what’s going on?! He’s a kid, are you kids too?” Mao Guo tried to smooth things over. “Think of a way to get that guy down safely. Wages will still be paid. Bonus too! On top of that, whoever catches him gets five days of paid vacation.”

    Five days of paid leave!

Under normal circumstances, that would’ve had everyone cheering.

    But now?

The workers all glanced up toward the top of the building.

Up above, Wang Yun had already climbed to the fourth floor.

He was standing there, occasionally peering down with phone in hand, gesturing wildly as he livestreamed.

Wang Yun was actually getting a little excited now.

“Guys, gals, they stopped coming after me. What’s up with that? Are they scared I’ll get hurt? Aw, they’ve really underestimated me. Stop sending gifts, I can’t even see the captions anymore. Hey, has Little Wan gotten in touch with those two clowns yet? I mean, seriously, those father and son bullies have a girlfriend in the city, and yet they’re still trying to steal my bro’s girl back in the village? That’s just low.”

With nothing better to do, Wang Yun squatted at the edge of the fourth floor.

The wind howled around him as he looked down.

At this height, the footage was getting a bit fuzzy, but the camera still picked up faces and expressions well enough.
