Chapter 452: You’re the Talk of the Neighborhood!
by tinytreeWang Yun looked at how gentle and thoughtful she was and couldn’t help sighing again in admiration. The more time he spent with Xiao Yanran, the more certain he became that she was absolutely the kind of woman you married and brought home to be your wife.
The very image of grace and elegance.
“It’s not some fancy event. Just a gathering organized by the neighborhood owners. Everyone in the complex is expected to attend,” he said in a voice message.
“Bingbing and Xiaoming happen to be two of the homeowners here, and they’ll both be there tomorrow night.
“Since I know you’re a fan of Bingbing, I wanted to invite you to come with me.”
As soon as she finished listening, Xiao Yanran video called him right away.
When the call connected, she was visibly excited.
“Oh my god, are you serious?! Bingbing is your neighbor?”
She was clearly at work, doing her best to keep her voice down, but it still trembled slightly with excitement.
Wang Yun chuckled and nodded. “Yep. So… wanna come?”
Watching her cheeks slowly flush, his heart melted.
It felt like he’d do anything just to make her happy.
No wonder so many people crave love. Being in love really did fill a person with joy.
“Mhm!” she nodded eagerly.
Then, after a brief pause, her expression shifted. She looked like she wanted to say something but hesitated.
“What is it?”
“Xiaoxiao’s a huge fan of Bingbing too… If I went alone and she found out, she’d never forgive me. Would it be okay to bring her along?”
She sounded a little uneasy.
Of course, she wanted to go—but after all, this was a private gathering of the neighborhood owners. Bringing a tag-along might be pushing it.
“That’s it?”
Wang Yun burst out laughing.
These people had been practically begging him to attend. He could bring ten people, and they still wouldn’t dare complain.
As long as there was benefit in it, they wouldn’t care what he did.
“Of course it’s fine. You could bring your whole company if you wanted. As long as you’re happy.”
At this moment, Wang Yun was completely love-struck.
Seeing the adoration in his eyes, Xiao Yanran shyly shifted her face out of the camera frame, clearly to hide her giddy smile.
A few seconds later, she popped back into view.
“Alright then. See you tomorrow night.”
After they ended the call, Xiao Yanran sent over a string of photos—outfits she was trying on for the party.
She even included some of Zhu Xiaoxiao, who was trying on dresses too.
To be honest, Zhu Xiaoxiao’s outfits didn’t quite match the quality of Xiao Yanran’s, so she’d generously lent her one of her own.
Clothes really do make the person.
All dressed up, Zhu Xiaoxiao looked surprisingly polished.
Wang Yun, not really knowing how to pick between them, just commented, “You both look great.”
A few perfunctory compliments later, Xiao Yanran stopped replying.
It wasn’t until the evening that she messaged him again, saying she was going to sleep early to get her beauty rest. She didn’t want to look tired when she met her idol the next day.
Wang Yun couldn’t help but laugh at how seriously she was taking it.
‘So this is what being a fangirl looks like.’
He suddenly wondered. If someone came to see him, would they get this excited too?
The thought made him reconsider. Maybe being a celebrity wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
Seemed like it was time to talk to Director Zhou and see if there was a way for him to make a public appearance.
He was done playing the mysterious faceless star.
The next afternoon, Wang Yun drove over to pick up Xiao Yanran at her company. But the moment he saw her, she didn’t look much different from usual.
It was Zhu Xiaoxiao, however, who had clearly gone all out with her appearance.
“Thank you so much, Handsome Wang! Taking us to see Bingbing like this, you’ll forever be my greatest benefactor! From now on, I’ll keep a 24-hour watch on Yanyan for you. If anything happens, you’ll be the first to know. I’m willing to be your informant!”
Zhu Xiaoxiao wasted no time transforming into a full-blown fangirl herself.
“Seriously? That’s the best you can do?” Xiao Yanran rolled her eyes at her, exasperated.
But Zhu Xiaoxiao remained unbothered. “Of course! Stick with Handsome Wang and life will be full of meat and wine.”
Listening to the two of them banter, Wang Yun couldn’t stop laughing.
The gathering was being held right within the community grounds.
Apparently, the neighborhood even had a private event hall.
Wang Yun was starting to realize this place had just about everything. Most importantly, it even had a private restaurant, meant specifically for residents.
For those who didn’t want to order takeout or cook, they could place meal orders directly.
It wasn’t cheap, but everything—from ingredients to cooking methods—was top-tier and fully imported.
Naturally, business was booming.
Given its privacy and premium location, it was also the go-to spot for residents who needed to entertain business associates discreetly.
Wang Yun’s drive over was smooth and uneventful.
The security guards had long since memorized his face.
He parked in the garage and stepped into the elevator, only to find Xiao Qian already inside.
“Mr. Wang, you’re finally here! Everyone’s been waiting for you.”
Xiao Qian greeted him with respectful enthusiasm, nodding politely at the two women beside him.
“The invitation said six o’clock,” Wang Yun said, glancing at his watch.
“Yes, yes, that’s right! You’re perfectly on time,” Xiao Qian said quickly. “But the others were all eager to see you; most of them showed up by five. You’re the talk of the neighborhood now, Mr. Wang.”
