Chapter 458: I Can’t Do Anything, Yet I Excel at Everything!
by tinytreeAn international superstar lived up to the title. Every glance, every smile carried an effortless allure.
If Xiao Yanran was the picture of pure, girl-next-door beauty, then Bingbing was her complete opposite—sultry, radiant, and commanding.
Together, the two women were ice and fire.
The sweet next-door darling and the glamorous CEO goddess.
“This must be Wang Yun, right? Just like you said, he’s even more handsome than you.”
Bingbing turned to look at Wang Yun, her smile graceful and composed.
Xiaoming stood beside her, nodding with mock solemnity.
“Yep. I admit it, he’s way better looking than me.”
Wang Yun let out a soft chuckle. “Just a face, nothing more. Nice to meet you, Bingbing. I’m Wang Yun. This is my fiancée, she’s a huge fan. Would it be alright if she took a photo with you?”
As he spoke, he gently led Xiao Yanran forward.
Bingbing raised an elegant brow and responded with poise.
“We’re neighbors, of course it’s fine. Your fiancée is absolutely lovely. That fresh, innocent look, I like it.”
As she spoke, Bingbing stepped up and warmly took Xiao Yanran’s hand.
But Xiao Yanran was completely frozen.
To meet her idol at such close range was a dream come true. She could only stare wide-eyed, stunned into silence.
Bingbing found her reaction thoroughly endearing.
“You’re too cute. Never mind a photo, let’s add each other on WeChat. Come visit me sometime. I’ll be staying around here for a while.”
Faced with such a warm invitation, Xiao Yanran looked even more dazed. Her heart was practically in her throat, her whole mind blank with disbelief.
Zhu Xiaoxiao, beside her, was no better; she looked like she might start drooling.
Wang Yun could only shake his head helplessly at the sight of the two. He walked over and gave Xiao Yanran a light nudge on the shoulder.
“Bingbing is talking to you. Say something.”
“Ah! A-ah… sorry! Sorry!”
Jolted back to reality by Wang Yun’s voice, Xiao Yanran finally came to her senses.
And then—whoosh—her face turned bright red in an instant, the blush spreading all the way down to her neck.
The crowd around them couldn’t help but laugh.
She was simply too adorable.
Girls this shy and sweet were rare these days.
“Yes! I would love to!” Xiao Yanran finally blurted out.
The moment those words left her lips, the whole room erupted into laughter.
“Haha! Brother Wang Yun, your fiancée is too cute!”
“Aiya, young girls these days are still so pure, nothing like my daughter. Worlds apart!”
“Hey, Brother Wang Yun, does your fiancée have a younger sister? My son’s about your age, hehe.”
Everyone joined in the playful teasing.
Which only made Xiao Yanran blush harder.
“Alright, alright, that’s enough teasing my fiancée,” Wang Yun said with a chuckle. “Come on, let’s take that picture.”
Bingbing gave a soft laugh, and Xiao Yanran quickly pulled out her phone. The three women huddled together, taking selfies with wide smiles.
Meanwhile, the food was ready. Dishes were brought out one after another.
Bingbing even invited Xiao Yanran and Zhu Xiaoxiao to sit beside her, while Wang Yun found a seat next to Luo Fei.
“Come, come, no need to be formal. Eat and drink your fill!” Luo Fei stood up with a smile. “This is just a private gathering. Let’s toast the first round, and then I’ll introduce everyone to Brother Wang Yun.”
The men drank wine, while the women were served juice or soft drinks.
After the first toast, Luo Fei began introducing the other guests to Wang Yun one by one.
The room was filled with prominent figures, including politicians, entrepreneurs, and academics.
One was a well-known elementary school principal whose drinking tolerance, it turned out, even surpassed Wang Yun’s.
The majority were involved in real estate or the food and beverage industry.
After Luo Fei finished his introductions, it was Wang Yun’s turn. All eyes turned to him, faces filled with curiosity and anticipation.
Wang Yun stood and smiled calmly.
He couldn’t exactly say, “I made my fortune on a reality show.”
“I don’t have much of a background,” he began. “I just know a little bit of everything. In every field represented here, I’ve dabbled. If you ever run into any problems, feel free to ask me. I’m not claiming to be all-powerful, but I’d say I’m well-rounded. As for any special skills… I guess I just have money. More than I could ever spend.”
Then he turned toward Bingbing.
“And Ms. Bingbing, I’ve heard about what you’ve been going through recently. I might be able to help. We can talk privately later. Of course, don’t misunderstand. My fiancée is the one who really admires you.”
By the time he finished speaking, about half the room sat stunned, still trying to process what he’d just said.
What kind of self-introduction was that?
He claimed to be a jack-of-all-trades who could solve any problem while insisting he wasn’t extraordinary.
And on top of that, he was filthy rich.
The overall message was clear: he was a total enigma.
He said he had no background, yet from the way he spoke, he clearly had more power and connections than anyone else present.
After he downed the wine in his glass in one clean gulp, Bingbing stood up.
She didn’t say a word.
Her signature smile had disappeared, replaced by something more serious. She raised her glass with both hands, her demeanor solemn, eyes just faintly misty.
“…Cheers.”
It was just one word.
Then she tilted her head back and drained her glass of hard liquor. Her unexpected gesture snapped the whole room back to attention.
“Whoa! Impressive!” someone shouted.
“Damn, what a drinker!”
Luo Fei whooped, rallying the others with laughter and applause.
