Chapter 459: Between Adults, there should be a tacit understanding
by tinytreeWith Luo Fei’s loud cheer, the dinner party reached its peak.
At that moment, everyone looked at Wang Yun with nothing but admiration and a hint of awe.
For someone so young to possess such composure and capability, his future would surely be dazzling.
He was not someone to be trifled with.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yanran and Bingbing had bonded like old friends over a single meal.
There was no denying Bingbing’s charm and social finesse; she made Xiao Yanran feel like she’d found a kindred spirit.
On the other end, Xiaoming hadn’t neglected Zhu Xiaoxiao either.
Since Xiao Yanran was Wang Yun’s fiancée, it would’ve been inappropriate for him to be too friendly with her. But eager to build rapport with Wang Yun, he naturally shifted his attention to Zhu Xiaoxiao.
Of course, it was all perfectly polite, just an effort to get closer.
By the time dinner wrapped up, everyone at the table was smiling and satisfied.
They had even briefly discussed business. Those with useful connections made introductions and exchanged contacts freely.
Wang Yun, however, stayed quiet the entire time, never inserting himself into the business talk.
Luo Fei tried more than once to bring him into the conversation, asking about his network, but Wang Yun only responded with a smile and said nothing.
Oddly enough, no one was offended by this. In fact, it only made them respect him more.
After all, anyone eager to show off their hand during a first meeting probably didn’t have much of one to begin with.
After dinner, the group gradually dispersed.
Wang Yun offered to let Xiao Yanran and Zhu Xiaoxiao stay over, but both politely declined.
They explained that they planned to meet Bingbing again the next day and needed to change clothes; it wouldn’t be convenient to stay at his place.
Wang Yun didn’t insist.
Still, he couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed. He had genuinely hoped to take the next step with Xiao Yanran.
The next morning, Wang Yun was woken by the sound of knocking at the door.
It was Luo Fei again.
This time, he came bearing food.
“My wife’s been experimenting with some new Hong Kong-style dim sum,” he said cheerfully. “I figured you live alone, and meals might be a hassle, so I brought some over for you to try.”
He stood at the door with the same posture as before, but this time, his smile was warmer, more sincere.
“Come in, Brother Luo. You’re really too thoughtful,” Wang Yun said, stepping aside to let him in.
He didn’t refuse. They weren’t close friends, but as the saying goes—you don’t turn away someone offering kindness with a smile.
Wang Yun took the food and set it down casually on the dining table.
“Aiya, this penthouse really is on another level,” Luo Fei said, glancing around. “When I was looking to buy in this complex, I checked out this building too. The space was huge, but I was a little tight on cash at the time. Otherwise, I’d have bought it already.”
He looked around at the sleek, high-end décor and offered genuine praise.
Wang Yun chuckled and lifted the lid on one of the containers.
The food looked exquisite. It was the kind that made your appetite wake up just by sight alone.
“I didn’t do any of this. It was move-in ready.”
He popped a shrimp dumpling into his mouth as he spoke.
Luo Fei nodded thoughtfully.
“I get it, I get it. When I buy my second home, you’ll have to put me in touch. That renovation company did a great job.”
From the way he said it, Wang Yun instantly knew what he was getting at.
He sighed inwardly. Might as well give him a proper answer, for the sake of the food.
He looked up at Luo Fei and said frankly, “It wasn’t a renovation company. A friend gave me the place, and they handled all the furnishing too. Like I said last night, I may not have much else, but I’ve got money. If you ever run into problems with your business, Brother Luo, feel free to reach out. I won’t hold back. As for funding, I only invest.”
His tone was serious and direct.
Luo Fei looked slightly embarrassed for a moment, but deep down, he was touched.
This meant Wang Yun was genuinely treating him as a friend.
At least in name.
Since he’d already laid things out so plainly, it would’ve been shameless to keep probing.
Luo Fei burst into hearty laughter.
“Haha! Alright then, Brother Wang Yun. With your word, if I ever run into trouble, you’re the first person I’ll come to. Well, I won’t keep you any longer. Enjoy your breakfast. If you’re ever free, drop by for tea.”
Wang Yun nodded.
“Sure. I’ll return the tableware later.”
Luo Fei waved dismissively.
Then he turned and left without another word—clean and efficient.
Not even slightly concerned about whether he’d get to see Wang Yun again. Because he already understood something very clearly.
The tableware Wang Yun was using—just for breakfast—was from a famous luxury brand.
The kind of set that easily went for six figures.
Who wouldn’t return something that valuable personally?
And if you did return it—well, etiquette demanded you bring a return gift too.
Wang Yun was well aware of this.
After finishing his meal, he carefully cleaned the tableware and placed it in the kitchen.
He wasn’t one to freeload. Since Luo Fei had offered kindness, he intended to return the favor somehow.
He opened his laptop and searched up Luo Fei’s background.
It turned out he was the owner of a construction materials company with assets in the tens of millions. Not bad at all.
Currently, the business was operating smoothly without any major issues.
Even so, Wang Yun made a mental note to keep an eye out—perhaps someday, he could offer a helping hand.
Buzz, buzz, buzz—
Just as he was reading through the company’s profile, his phone rang.
