Chapter 470: It’s Time for You to Step Away
by tinytreeWang Yun looked at the teary-eyed Xiao Yanran, his heart swelling with emotion. He gently patted her back and leaned in to whisper softly by her ear.
“No matter how good I am, I belong to you. And I’m only ever good to you.”
His warm breath brushed against her neck as he spoke.
Xiao Yanran froze.
A strange, tingling sensation spread through her body, like a thousand tiny sparks crawling across her skin. It was a feeling she had never experienced before—different from the simple sweetness of love.
It was more… intimate.
She suddenly felt a strong desire to get closer to Wang Yun.
To really be close.
The moment the thought entered her mind, her cheeks turned scarlet. She didn’t know what came over her. How could her mind have drifted there?
But maybe… just maybe… it was because she’d found the right person.
Her mother once told her, “When you find the right one, it’s okay to entrust your whole self to him.”
Hurriedly, she sat up and slipped out of Wang Yun’s embrace, just as Bingbing returned from the restroom.
Wang Yun didn’t notice Xiao Yanran’s flustered expression.
“Thank you,” Bingbing said, her voice slightly hoarse. “You’ve helped me a lot.”
Her face was still flushed, eyes red and puffy. She’d clearly cried while in the bathroom. Her hair was a little messy too. But even so, that powerful aura of hers—paired with her stunning beauty—remained utterly undiminished.
She was still every bit herself.
Wang Yun acted like he hadn’t noticed anything and just smiled.
“It’s nothing. After today, I trust you know what to do.”
He paused for a moment.
“But I do think this industry is a mess. You’ve fought your way through it for half your life. Maybe it’s time to take a real break. As for your brother, his career is no longer your burden to carry.”
He spoke gently, but with clear suggestion.
Part of it was for Yanran’s sake. But he also genuinely respected Bingbing.
When investigating her situation, he’d taken the time to look into her personally too.
And he found she wasn’t a bad person. She’d never framed or hurt anyone. At most, she’d used her looks to pull in resources or to pave a smoother path for her younger brother, who was also working in the entertainment industry.
Bingbing looked at Wang Yun, her eyes shimmering.
That shimmer wasn’t flirtation, it was gratitude.
She could tell: this young man, with his capabilities, had likely seen right through her. And yet he still chose to speak to her sincerely.
At that moment, it felt like she’d found a confidant.
Her heart was deeply moved.
Truly moved.
She couldn’t hold it in anymore. Her shoulders trembled slightly. Her eyes reddened again. And then, just like that, tears the size of pearls began falling one after another.
Xiao Yanran was startled.
She stood up at once and rushed to her idol’s side.
“Siter Bingbing, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? Brother Wang Yun, you went too far!”
She was clearly panicking.
Her beloved idol had suddenly started crying. Was it because she didn’t want to leave showbiz?
But Bingbing just waved her hand in a flurry. One hand covered her nose and mouth, the other swiping uselessly in the air as sobs wracked her chest. She couldn’t even speak. She was completely choked with emotion.
Wang Yun didn’t move.
He just calmly held his wine glass.
“She wants to quit too. Let her cry it out. She’ll feel better after she lets it all go.”
His voice was cool and distant, void of any overt emotion. As if watching an old friend quietly shed the weight of years.
When she heard that, Bingbing finally broke.
She had always been strong. So strong, in fact, that she carried everything on her own shoulders. But that same strength had pushed others away.
No one had ever tried to comfort her; they all assumed she’d figure it out herself. Even her own parents thought she was invincible. Even now, with her career at its lowest, they believed she would pull through on her own.
But all that shattered in front of this young man, barely in his twenties.
Xiao Yanran was flustered and helpless. Wang Yun remained calm and composed.
And Bingbing sobbed like a child.
Three emotions. Three people. One scene.
Abrupt and yet so natural.
Under Wang Yun’s quiet reassurance, Xiao Yanran stopped panicking. She silently sat down beside Bingbing and watched her with aching concern.
Meanwhile, Wang Yun happily continued devouring seafood like nothing had happened.
If they didn’t finish it tonight, it’d be wasted by tomorrow.
【Ding! 】
【Trust Level +90 from a Beautiful Woman!】
【Exchangeable for 3 Million Shock Points!】
Just as Wang Yun was chomping down on a lobster tail, the long-forgotten voice of the system echoed in his mind. It had been so long, he’d nearly forgotten the system even existed.
“Damn!”
He cursed under his breath.
“Brother Wang Yun? What did you say?” Xiao Yanran blinked at him in confusion.
“Nothing, I bit my tongue.”
“Eat slower then.”
Wang Yun hurriedly nodded, barely able to contain his grin.
‘Ninety-point trust rating from a beautiful woman, and it converts into three million shock points?! Holy crap!’
Wang Yun was over the moon.
It had been ages since he’d received such a huge windfall of shock value.
The last time was during that livestream back in Mao Xiaogang’s village; he’d earned over seven million points then.
Since ending the stream, nothing major had happened.
Who would’ve thought that just coming out for dinner tonight would net him another massive haul?
And three million points at that.
It was enough to redeem a brand-new skill.
Honestly, he’d take this over three hundred million in cash.
