Chapter 288: For Wang Zi, Xiao Gang Surrenders Himself!

Outside the jungle surrounding the mountain.

“Captain Wu, we spotted a figure at 120 degrees south,” a program inspector shouted excitedly into the walkie-talkie.

Wu Yaoming, who had been dozing off, instantly sprang awake at the news.

“What? Someone? Deploy immediately, but don’t get spotted. Hide and stay cautious, don’t make any rash moves,” Wu Yaoming ordered as he grabbed his jacket and rushed outside.

“Let’s go! There’s movement in the south. A figure was seen, let’s head over now,” Wu Yaoming called out to his team.

The team members perked up, shaking off their drowsiness. Even Ying Yuezi, excited by the news, hurried out of her tent.

“Did they find Wang Yun and the others?” Ying Yuezi asked, her face full of surprise.

“Not sure yet, but they spotted someone,” Wu Yaoming replied, quickly hopping into an electric tricycle. 

The roads around the jungle were complicated, making it difficult for regular cars to get through. Normally, they relied on electric tricycles to navigate the terrain. While not fast, they were quicker than traveling on foot. The location on the south side of the mountain was at least eight kilometers away, and it would still take them half an hour to reach it.

“I’ll go with you!” Captain Fustan from Maine exclaimed. 

Being an athlete, he couldn’t let his companion Captain Alfa venture into the mountain and leave him behind without accomplishing something himself.

“We’re coming too,” Bayim and Kalami from the oil nation immediately followed. 

Although their presence had been practically invisible, as representatives of the oil country, there was no way they would sit this out.

“Hurry up! Let’s move!”

Wu Yaoming leaped onto the electric tricycle, and the three captains quickly jumped in behind him. 

Fifty program inspectors followed closely. Since there were already more than thirty people stationed to the south, taking fifty more was plenty. Besides, it wasn’t yet confirmed if the figures they spotted were Wang Yun and his group. The dense poisonous fog in the surrounding mountains made visibility nearly impossible. The program inspectors could only rely on heat sensors to locate living beings.

“Have they come out yet?” Wu Yaoming asked as the vehicle bumped along the rugged path. 

The terrain was so rough that anyone who had eaten recently would likely throw up just from opening their mouth.

“Not yet. They’re moving very slowly. We’ve been watching them for quite a while. If they were snakes, insects, or wild animals, they wouldn’t be moving at such a slow pace. They’re advancing at a steady, consistent speed, heading straight for our exit. I’m confident they’re human. But there are only two of them,” one of the program inspectors reported with great detail.

When Wu Yaoming heard this, he was a bit puzzled. 

By all accounts, Wang Yun and his group of four shouldn’t have split up, so why were only two people spotted now? The team member who informed him was a retired veteran, highly experienced. If he said it was people, then it had to be people—definitely not some other creature.

“Two of them? Maybe they got separated somehow,” Wu Yaoming suggested.

“That’s what I thought too, so I reported it to you, Captain Wu. No need to rush though—judging by their pace, it’ll be at least another 40 minutes before they get here,” the team member said over the radio.

Half an hour later, Wu Yaoming and his team arrived at the location.

But what greeted them was quite the surprise. Though, it was a bit of a small surprise.

“The ambulance is here.”

Just as Wu Yaoming stepped down from the tricycle, an ambulance rolled up—also a three-wheeler, carrying four medical staff and a stretcher.

“Where’s the injured?” they asked.

“Over here! Poisoned by the toxins in the mountain, unconscious, but their vital signs are stable. They need immediate treatment!” one of the program inspectors shouted urgently.

At the same time, the program inspector glanced at Captain Wu, looking a bit awkward.

“Captain, it’s Wang Yun’s men, Xiao Gang and Wang Zi. Wang Zi was poisoned by the toxins inside and passed out. Xiao Gang carried him out and surrendered himself,” the team member explained to Wu Yaoming.

Just before Wu Yaoming arrived, he had already learned the situation. He nodded and then turned to Xiao Gang.

“It’s fine. As long as someone is awake, we’ll be able to track down Wang Yun. Hand him over to me.” 

After saying that, Wu Yaoming walked straight toward Xiao Gang. 

At this moment, Xiao Gang was staring worriedly at Wang Zi lying unconscious on the stretcher, completely ignoring the program inspectors surrounding him.

“Your brother’s already been taken care of. What, are you planning to go with him too?” Wu Yaoming said, approaching him with a calm, almost indifferent tone.

Xiao Gang immediately shot him a glare, his face full of anger, mixed with disdain and contempt.

“Heh, if my brother hadn’t gotten into trouble, would you even be looking at me right now?” Xiao Gang said.

He stretched out his hands in front of him, adopting a ‘do whatever you want’ attitude.

“Don’t bother trying to get anything out of me, it’s pointless Where the boss is, where he went, I know nothing.”

After finishing his sentence, Xiao Gang pressed his lips together, his resolve unshakable.

Wu Yaoming simply smiled and shook his head. 

“Whether you know anything or not isn’t up to you. Even if you’re here to throw yourself into the fire, what difference does it make? Remember this. You’re the enemy, and I’m on the right side. I’ve got plenty of ways to make you talk. Take him away.”
