    Chapter Index

Inside the forest surrounding the mountain, thick poison fog was everywhere. The trees that should’ve been green had blackened roots if you looked closely.

The poison hit hard. Most of the leaves were a sickly yellow by now, but some trees still had bright green leaves, which looked almost eerie in the haze. That unnatural green was all too common here.

At night, the mountain was far from quiet. The grass kept rustling with little movements. The sound of leaves rubbing together added a creepy vibe. It made one’s skin crawl.

Wang Yun strolled along, holding his gas mask in one hand and resting his other on his hip like he was casually out shopping. He acted as if the thick fog wasn’t even there. The poison in the air didn’t faze him.

With his enhanced vision, he could see everything around him as clearly as if it were daytime.

“Where’d they go? Don’t tell me they got lost,” he muttered, scanning the distance.

At the same time, he was listening carefully to the sounds around him.

Even though he could see well and hear far, he knew better than to mess with the poisonous creatures lurking around. Avoiding them was definitely the smarter move. He wasn’t here to fight them head-on, after all.

With his god-level vision and hearing, Wang Yun managed to dodge three venomous snakes, two toxic toads, and even a red-eyed owl.

Meanwhile, the viewers in his livestream were practically holding their breath.

“Man, he really isn’t afraid of death! He wanders around this poisoned forest like it’s nothing!”

“This poison fog is so thick. I can barely see anything. It’s just a wall of gray!”

“Just watching the stream makes me feel like I’m suffocating. This guy’s got guts!”

“What kind of survival show is this? He’s playing with fire! Hunting down those inspectors in a place like this, is he mad!?”

“Honestly, even a trained dog would get lost out here. Not to mention, the mountain’s fu*king huge!”

Comments kept flooding the stream. In their eyes, Wang Yun should’ve just played it safe and stayed put.

Going on the offensive? That was practically a death wish.

Sure, they all wanted some thrilling content, but deep down, they hoped everyone would make it out alive.

But no one could stop Wang Yun. He’d been roaming for two hours now, and there wasn’t a single sign of the inspectors. He was starting to feel disappointed. The thick fog was practically a perfect cover for him. This was the ideal time to strike.

“Ugh, maybe I should just run for it. If I keep strolling around, I’ll waste the whole night,” he muttered, glancing ahead.

He raised a hand, almost as if testing the density of the poison fog.

“The fog’s so thick now, I can barely see my own hand,” Wang Yun muttered, looking at his arm swallowed by the toxic mist.

This fog was perfect for his plan. It was the ultimate cover. With that thought, he took off running.

    The livestream chat erupted.

“Bro, bro! You don’t have to risk your life! Can’t see a thing—why run?”

“Agh, the immersion is too real! I can’t watch. What if there’s a pit or cliff up ahead? He’ll be done for!”

“Yup, this is the very definition of tempting fate! You ask for it, you get it!”

The fog obscured everything in front of him, making it feel like he was a blind man running full speed through a mountain range. All it took was one wrong step to end up over a cliff.

As he sprinted, the viewers could hear the wind whipping past. Instinctively, they held their breath. That fog was pure poison. But then, luck seemed to be on Wang Yun’s side. After about ten minutes of running, he suddenly heard a distant shout off to the left. The sound was faint, like a half-forgotten echo.

He froze, holding his breath, and listened again.

Five seconds later, a grin spread across his face.

    He’d found them.

A screeching sound came from Marley

“Stop yelling! That spider probably isn’t poisonous,” Werner hissed.

Marley, pale as a ghost, stared at a massive spider dangling from the tree he’d just been leaning on. The spider was easily bigger than his hand, and its tiny, beady eyes were fixed right on him, as if it were assessing whether he’d make a good meal. To make things worse, it was still spinning silk, with its long legs twitching as it hung there.

The group had only settled down by the tree to rest until dawn, but they’d barely closed their eyes before waking up to this nightmare.

Werner quickly motioned for everyone to keep quiet.

“All the poisonous critters come out at night. Don’t bring any more trouble our way!” he said, his gaze darting nervously between Marley and Alfa.

“It shouldn’t be poisonous, right?” Werner repeated, sounding less sure.

The first time, he’d tried to reassure himself. Now, he was actually asking.

Not poisonous? Yeah, right! They were smack in the middle of this toxic jungle, where every plant and creature could be venomous!

Alfa took a deep breath, trying to stay calm.

“That’s a Boni Spider,” he finally said, swallowing hard and instinctively inching away.

“A Boni Spider? Is it poisonous? It keeps staring at me! Someone throw a rock and get it away!” Marley was on the verge of tears.

Werner and Hardy noticed Alfa shaking, and they exchanged a worried glance. Their eyes said it all. It was highly venomous.
