The three stepped into the Smoky Forest without hesitation.

By now, it was already afternoon. Only two hours remained until the earthquake.

The island’s original residents had begun evacuating. Tourists had long since boarded cruise ships and departed.

Since the island was about an hour and a half by sea from the mainland, the tourism bureau had dispatched every ferry available to assist with the evacuation.

The television crew, equipped with helicopters, managed to expedite their evacuation several times over.

Some tourists initially harbored resentment but quickly softened when they realized they could take a free helicopter ride. For many, this rare experience offset their complaints. The show’s inspectors, though numerous, had their own boat, which they loaded to full capacity. By this point, they had already reached the mainland.

Brother Wang, is this earthquake only going to affect this island? All the tourists and residents are being evacuated. As long as they get to the mainland, they’ll be safe, right?”

As Wang Yun walked, he heard the executive producer’s voice through his earpiece.

Who would have thought that a show producer would turn to a fugitive for answers about natural disasters?

“Yes, as long as they leave the ocean, they’ll be fine,” Wang Yun explained patiently. “This earthquake originates from beneath the seabed. It’s likely caused by some unavoidable natural forces shifting the tectonic plates, which then caused the water to churn. This type of seismic activity impacts the islands in the ocean the most. As for the mainland, the soil beneath Yun City is stable. There will still be tremors, but they won’t be as severe.”

Wang Yun’s calm and detailed explanation left Brother Hu and Xiao Gang in silent awe. They had never realized their boss possessed such deep knowledge of natural phenomena.

The producer, too, was impressed. His unease subsided as he listened. He trusted Wang Yun’s words but couldn’t help feeling conflicted about the evacuation’s scale.

If no earthquake occurred, it would trigger a backlash from society, with people accusing them of wasting resources. The show would undoubtedly face harsh criticism.

But if an earthquake did occur, while it would validate their actions, it would also bring chaos and potential harm.

The executive producer found himself caught in a dilemma, torn between wanting and dreading the disaster.

“Brother Wang, please take care of yourself too! We still have helicopters running. Your safety is the priority. The show can be paused if necessary,” the producer urged.

Wang Yun nodded. “I know what I’m doing. If I can predict the earthquake, I’ll find a way to deal with it. Don’t worry, I won’t make things hard for you.”

Hearing this, the producer was deeply moved. Wang Yun understood him.

With the evacuation nearly complete, Wang Yun finally felt a weight lifted from his heart. He wasn’t someone who would go out of his way to save everyone, but if he could save tens of thousands of lives with his own hands, who wouldn’t?

Born in China, he naturally carried the spirit of the dragon nation in his heart.

The producer was now completely at ease.

However, the show inspectors grumbled incessantly.

“Great. We had helicopters ready, acid rain setups prepared, and we even located Wang Yun’s group. Then he goes and messes it all up, forcing a retreat.”

“And Wang Yun himself hasn’t even left. He says there’s going to be an earthquake but won’t leave. What, is he stupid?”

“I’ve figured it out. Wang Yun isn’t stupid, but our captain is for believing him.”

“Keep your mouths shut. Don’t forget we’re here to make a show. If we catch Wang Yun, the show ends. Can you guarantee that we’ll ever find another genius like him for the next season?”

Sitting aboard their boat, the program inspectors stared at the nearing harbor and cast one last glance at the island fading into the distance. Their voices were filled with frustration. Even as background participants in the show, they had to stay fully alert every day. Beyond the high-pressure filming, they also had to deal with Wang Yun’s surprise attacks.

No matter how much they were paid, it was exhausting. Several colleagues had already quit over the past two or three days, citing the need to protect their lives.

And who could blame them? Faced with life-and-death situations, money lost its value.

Yet, a handful remained, hoping to make a name for themselves through the show. All they needed was a moment on camera. If Wang Yun targeted them, they might just get their chance to shine.

There had already been a success story. One participant eliminated by Wang Yun was later interviewed by local media. A streaming platform even invited him to host a live broadcast, where he recounted his encounter with Wang Yun. The story catapulted him to fame.

    Such cases tempted many.

In the ship’s cabin, Wu Yaoming and the other Captains exchanged subtle glances toward Zhao Youcheng.

Meanwhile, Hardy stared at his phone with a smirk.

“One and a half hours left. In one and a half hours, the earthquake hits,” Hardy said mockingly.

His tone dripped with sarcasm. His expression was as disdainful as his words.
