Only a rescue mission would justify risking the helicopter losing control. Because only then would they create such a commotion to signal them.

With this thought, Wang Yun suddenly stood up. He tossed aside the leaves that formed their makeshift roof.

He climbed over the enclosure and looked into the distance.

“Don’t move from here!” Wang Yun shouted to Xiao Gang and Brother Hu before dashing madly into the distance.

After running for three minutes, he reached a spot closer to the coastline. He was still about five kilometers from the sea, but the rising water had already made it impossible to proceed further.

The seawater reached his waist, and the trembling of the ground around him was growing increasingly intense.

Watching the surging waves and feeling the shifting soil beneath his feet, an ominous premonition filled his heart.

The realization hit him like lightning, and his face turned pale.

His current position was awkward. His face was pressed to the water, one leg bent at a 90-degree angle and stuck in the mud, while the other leg remained on solid ground.

Wang Yun exhaled deeply.

In this position, he thought, it would normally be easy to pull himself free from the swamp. His body’s surface area was spread out, reducing the pressure on any single point, allowing him to carefully extract his trapped leg.

In theory, that was correct.

But the ground was still trembling, and the situation was far more dangerous than he anticipated. His hands were forced to support his body to prevent him from being completely submerged by seawater.

The water had already reached his elbows.
