Chapter 351: I’ll Save Them! Leave the Six to Me!
by tinytreeWang Yun immediately understood the situation upon hearing the executive producer’s words.
“It’s just as I thought. How long until the firefighters arrive? The wind is strong tonight, and the flames are spreading rapidly,” Wang Yun said urgently.
Hearing this, Xiao Gang and Brother Hu, who were ahead of him, immediately stopped and approached. They had already guessed part of the situation.
“Boss,” Xiao Gang called out with a frown.
Wang Yun’s brows also furrowed. He was still holding the communicator, but the producer hadn’t responded.
‘Could it be the producer is trapped in the fire too?’
Cough, cough.
“There are people trapped in the fire below, tourists. They climbed the mountain to escape the earthquake. Six of them, men and women,” Wang Yun informed them.
Brother Hu let out a sigh of relief. Seeing this, Wang Yun and Xiao Gang exchanged confused glances.
“What’s with that reaction?” Wang Yun asked.
“Well, I didn’t dare to say it earlier,” Brother Hu admitted sheepishly. “I thought the fire started because we didn’t put out our campfire properly after dinner. So, there were others on the mountain all along.”
Wang Yun and Xiao Gang simultaneously rolled their eyes at him.
Just then, the producer’s voice crackled through the communicator again, his tone filled with urgency.
“Wang Yun, bad news. I just got another call from the firefighters. The six people are currently stranded on the mountainside. The path up there is treacherous. There’s no way for a fire truck to reach them. The water tank is on the truck, but the hoses won’t reach that far. Their phone GPS shows they’re at least 8,000 meters from the foot of the mountain. And that’s not even counting the winding trails.”
Wang Yun’s eyes widened. He couldn’t help but shout:
“Eight thousand meters? There’s no way the fire hoses can cover that distance.”
The viewers in the livestream erupted in alarm.
“Eight kilometers? Even if they had a ladder truck, no fire hose is that long!”
“Why aren’t they running? The forest’s huge! If they keep going, they might run into Wang Yun. With him there, they’d be safe!”
“Run? Easy for you to say! Once a fire breaks out, the thick smoke alone can choke you. You wouldn’t even be able to see!”
“Exactly! That smoke blocks out all the oxygen. Without any air supply, you’d pass out in under two minutes!”
“This is bad! Those six people are in serious trouble! What were they thinking, climbing up the mountain to avoid an earthquake?”
“Let’s pray for them. Hope they make it through!”
The live chat buzzed with frantic messages.
Wang Yun didn’t hesitate.
“Producer, what about a helicopter? Can they fly in and create an artificial raindrop?”
“We’ve contacted them,” the producer replied, “But the smoke is too dense. If the helicopter flies in, it could lose visibility and get disoriented. But that’s not even the worst part.”
The director’s voice grew heavier. “The real problem is that those six people won’t last much longer. They’ve taken refuge in a shallow stream, but the air above them is running out fast. The firefighters told me one of the girls has already passed out.”
The producer was desperate but powerless. Even if he were there in person, the raging fire made it impossible to approach.
Wang Yun’s heart pounded. He clenched his fists, struggling with the reality of the situation. But just then—
Ding!
A familiar system notification echoed in his mind:
[Host’s strong desire to save lives detected. Skill automatically redeemed: Blazing Heart Assault!]
Blazing Heart Assault?
Wang Yun was momentarily stunned.
‘What kind of ridiculous skill name is that?’
With a mental sigh, he opened the skill description—only to be taken aback.
This skill was different. It granted him comprehensive knowledge about firefighting: how to suppress fires, properly use extinguishers, and navigate through burning structures.
‘Wait, what? I’m here to save people, not fight fires!’ Wang Yun grumbled internally.
But the system ignored his complaints.
“I’m going,” Wang Yun declared firmly. “I’ll rescue those six people myself.”
Xiao Gang and Brother Hu immediately stepped in, their faces full of alarm.
“Boss, are you serious?!” Xiao Gang exclaimed.
Wang Yun’s eyes were sharp with resolve. “I’ve already calculated the time. If I glide down from here, with my night vision and descent speed, I can reach them in five minutes. But I need their exact coordinates. Producer, contact the firefighters and get their precise location.”
The producer’s voice came back, stern and disbelieving:
“What?! Are you insane?” he snapped. “Wang Yun, this isn’t a stunt. I know you’re skilled, but this is real danger. One wrong move, and you’ll be burned alive.”
Before Wang Yun could respond, Xiao Gang and Brother Hu each grabbed one of his arms. Their faces were filled with determination and refusal.
“Boss, no way!” Xiao Gang barked. “You’d never make it! We’re miles from the fire. By the time you got there, you’d be ashes!”
“And even if you did reach them,” Brother Hu added, “how do you plan to save all six by yourself?!”
They held onto him tightly, clearly unwilling to let him risk his life.
The live chat exploded with frantic protests:
“No, Wang Yun! Don’t do it!”
“It’s suicide!”
“Even if you’re a hero, you can’t fight the fire alone!”
“Don’t throw your life away!”
The crowd watching from their screens shouted, their fear palpable.
But Wang Yun’s gaze never wavered. He glanced down at the burning forest below. Earlier, he had only seen thick clouds of black smoke.
But now he could see the flames.
The fire was raging, licking higher and higher, devouring everything in its path.
There wasn’t much time left.
