Chapter 409: You Must Bring That Girl Home!
by tinytreeXiao Yanran’s rapid growth was something Wang Yun hadn’t expected.
It truly surprised him that her body could recover so quickly and that she’d already started working again.
Director Zhou, as if he could read Wang Yun’s mind, smiled knowingly and said:
“Don’t worry about Xiao Yanran’s health. I’ve already asked her doctor. Her recovery’s been excellent, probably thanks to youth. She’s now a senior in college, working an internship, and also serving as the director of the foundation. Her life is full and fulfilling.”
When Zhou finished, Wang Yun was even more stunned.
“She’s working a job too?” he couldn’t help but ask. Even Zhou’s wife widened her eyes in disbelief.
“Yes,” Zhou nodded. “She found a company on her own and started an internship alongside her classmates. As for the foundation director role, it’s more of a symbolic position, nothing too demanding. She’s a hardworking girl. Can’t sit still. Always trying to better herself.”
“Brother Wang, you better seize the chance!” Director Zhou added with a laugh.
All of this information came from the time Xiao Yanran had reached out to the show, hoping to appear again just to see Wang Yun once more.
Director Zhou had sent someone to look into her background.
After all, a girl who donated a necklace worth a fortune deserved media coverage as a shining example of virtue.
And the more they learned, the deeper their admiration grew.
Xiao Yanran came from a very ordinary family. Yet in the face of immense temptation, she remained untouched by greed.
That kind of heart, those values, were so rare in today’s world.
Wang Yun listened quietly. He kept a calm smile on the surface, but deep down, his feelings for Xiao Yanran had grown stronger.
“Alright. Got it.” He nodded. “Sis-in-law, help me pick out some gifts for her. No budget limit.”
The words “no budget limit” perfectly reflected Wang Yun’s current mindset.
Director Zhou and his wife exchanged a glance, eyes full of satisfaction.
Seems like all their words today weren’t for nothing. They’d successfully pushed the two of them a little closer.
What followed was a shopping battle that lasted three hours.
If Piggy hadn’t finally complained about being too tired, Zhou’s wife probably would’ve dragged Wang Yun around the mall even longer.
Wang Yun looked at the three oversized shopping bags in his hand and could only sigh.
Each of the large bags contained multiple smaller ones.
Skincare, perfume, makeup, handbags, jewelry—the only thing they hadn’t bought were shoes and clothes.
And what’s more, Zhou’s wife insisted on paying for it all herself.
She wouldn’t let Wang Yun spend a dime. Saying it was a “small welcome gift for the future sister-in-law.”
Small? This was way past “welcome gift.” At this rate, they might as well start buying the betrothal gifts for the wedding!
“Mom, my feet really can’t take it anymore!”
“Honey, I need a drink.”
“Sis-in-law, we’re cutting it close on time.”
The three men were utterly defeated by one woman.
Zhou’s wife glanced at the bags in her hand, then at the nearby shops, clearly reluctant to stop.
“Alright, we’ll end the shopping trip here. But Wang Yun, remember… Find some time in the next few days to bring Yanran over for a visit. I need to sit down and have a proper chat with my future sister-in-law,” she said with great reluctance.
Wang Yun chuckled helplessly. “Okay, okay, I’ll listen to whatever you say, sis-in-law. But whether she even likes me or not is another story.”
He teased lightly.
“What? If she doesn’t like you, then give me back all this stuff! If it comes to that, I’ll go to her school myself!”
Zhou’s wife instantly flipped her expression, looking ready to fight for her son-in-law.
Director Zhou hurried to pull her aside, gazing at her with indulgence.
“Don’t jump to conclusions. With how outstanding our Wang Yun is, how could she not be interested?”
He then looked at Wang Yun.
“Alright, Wang Yun, you go take care of your business. We’ll be on our way too. Don’t let us hold you up.”
Director Zhou, holding his wife back, looked like he was rescuing his sworn brother from a hopeless romantic siege.
“Go get ‘em, Godfather!”
Little Piggy added his own cheer from the side, full of innocent enthusiasm.
Wang Yun left with a wry smile.
All he was doing was having dinner with Xiao Yanran—how had things gotten so stressful all of a sudden?
At the parking garage, he immediately gave Xiao Yanran a call. Once he got her location, he drove straight to her company.
She wasn’t far—still in the central business district.
But traffic was a nightmare.
Originally, Wang Yun planned to arrive early and wait in the parking lot. But by the time he reached her company, she was already clocking out.
Heading to the parking lot now would mean taking a longer detour, so Wang Yun simply pulled up in front of the company’s main entrance.

Of all times, rush hour at the corporate front gate was the most chaotic.
Morning and evening, the area was always packed with cars waiting to pick up girlfriends or wives from work.
“Yanran, don’t try to deny it. Something’s definitely going on today. You clocked out faster than anyone else! You’re never the type to leave right at closing time. And look at how pure and sweet you’re dressed today! Come on, fess up. Got a date, don’t you?”
