    Chapter Index

This time, things were completely different from before.

The moment they spotted someone, the first thing they did was report it. Then they would regroup and move together. All to avoid anyone being caught alone and eliminated.

Daylight made it nearly impossible for the enemy to hide.

At 11 a.m., the production team received a report that a fugitive had been captured.

    Grade B. Four points.

Then at noon, just as lunch began, more arrests followed.

More and more people were getting caught. Some stumbled upon by chance while searching for food, others discovered beneath bridges or near rocky outcrops.

The inspectors noticed a pattern: people often hid near the rocks, lying low and diving into the sea to forage while visibility was good. But they forgot that when no one else was around, even a single person stood out like a beacon.

Among those arrested were top students and social elites.

    All highly intelligent, scholarly types.

Ironically, it was the chefs, salespeople, and blue-collar workers who held out the longest.

The most absurd case was that a university professor voluntarily withdrew from the program.

He’d run out of money. He had spent every last cent, and hadn’t slept a wink the night before because no proper bed to rest on. His mental state had collapsed.

There was also a female white-collar worker. She went to a cheap fast-food joint for a meal and was harassed by a passerby. Unable to hold back, she lashed out and got into a shouting match.

That argument drew attention. And with it, the program inspectors.

She was a C-grade executive, the type who ruled her office with an iron fist. She was pampered, untouchable. She couldn’t stand being disrespected, even in a game show.

    It was a gift-wrapped capture.

A member of a police family detained her on the spot.

Viewers in the livestream were speechless.

    Then the scolding began.

“Serves her right. Coming on the show without knowing her place!”

“Brazenly drawing attention to herself, what was she thinking?”

Many agreed that people like her shouldn’t even be on the show.

    The incident exploded online.

“What the hell? She really thought no one would notice her yelling like that?”

“C’mon, no need to pile on. Maybe she just wanted to experience something new!”

“But seriously, how were contestants even picked? I never saw any open casting. I want in!”

“This kind of opportunity? Has to be internal. If you’ve got some brains and luck, this is your chance to blow up!”

“I want in just to meet Wang Yun! I’d even wash his feet if I could team up with him!”

    The comments kept flooding in.

“Yo, looks like someone has started forming a team. Nailed it!”

Back in the livestream, a fugitive from stream channel 296 had teamed up with another from channel 29.

One tall, one short. One fat, one skinny.

One wore glasses, the other didn’t.

They looked like cartoon characters—Big Head Son and Little Head Dad.

Just looking at them was enough to make people laugh.

“I’ve still got 189 yuan left. You?”

The tall one was named Xiao Bo. The short one, Da Wang.

    Even their names were ridiculous.

“Bro, you’re amazing. It’s been nearly two days, and you’ve still got that much? I’m down to 62. These two days have been intense. My stomach’s been rumbling nonstop.” Da Wang scratched his head awkwardly.

The two had run into each other by chance. When they noticed the markings on each other’s wrists, they exchanged surprised looks, then, without a word, formed an alliance.

One of the few saving graces of the program rules was that fugitives weren’t forced to turn on each other.

Otherwise, survival would be nearly impossible.

“No worries. I don’t eat much, and I’m pretty good at talking to people. Let’s find some elderly folks living alone and crash at their place. Free food and a place to lay low.”

As soon as Xiao Bo said that, Da Wang gave him a big thumbs-up. “Solid plan, bro. Let’s go now.”

“I scouted the old town yesterday. I know just the spot!” Xiao Bo glanced around cautiously.

After confirming the coast was clear, he hunched over and led Da Wang southward.

The livestream viewers were thoroughly entertained by the duo. But that amusement wouldn’t last. If their escape continued in this style, it was bound to grow boring fast.

Meanwhile, in Wang Yun’s livestream, the crew was still fast asleep.

What Wang Yun didn’t know was that outside, not only were the program inspectors searching for him—

    So were the fugitives.

Especially Ying Yuezi and Wang Yue.

The two were strolling down the street at that very moment.

Unlike Xiao Bo and Da Wang, Ying Yuezi was dressed to the nines—high-heeled shoes, a stylish handbag, and a tall, elegant hat. She looked like a noblewoman straight out of a fashion magazine.

Wearing sunglasses, she walked calmly down the street.

Coincidentally, the handbag strap perfectly covered the mark on her wrist.

    No one could see it.
