    Chapter Index

Wang Yun gave him a faintly mysterious smile.

“Go to the hotel and protect the person staying there for me. If you do that, you’ll already be helping me a great deal.”

The light in Colin’s eyes dimmed at once.

He answered weakly, “All right. I understand. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him.”

Seeing that Wang Yun had nothing else to say, Colin finally turned and went back to his room, looking more than a little disappointed.

Left alone by the table, Wang Yun picked up the two remaining cases and carried them back to his room. Once inside, he shut the door behind him. He set the cases on the bed and opened them both for a look. He had never seen so much cash in one place before.

Two whole suitcases packed to the brim with money.

Wang Yun thought that taking part in this show was actually a pretty good deal. Not only did the production team pay him, he could make this much money during the show itself. This was enough to live on for the rest of his life.

Shaking his head, he closed the cases again and set them by the bed.

At this point, money was no longer a problem for him. The cash at hand was more than enough to get him through the rest of the program.

With that thought, Wang Yun lay down and soon fell asleep.

A full day of scheming, tension, and physical exertion had left him utterly drained.

At seven the next morning, Wang Yun opened his eyes right on time. He had not meant to wake up that early.

But that damned body clock of his.

The hour came, and he woke on his own.

Wang Yun let out a helpless sigh.

He rolled over, intending to sleep a little longer. But no matter how he tossed and turned, sleep would not come back.

So, unwillingly, he got up and washed up.

    Knock, knock.

Two light knocks suddenly sounded at the door, and Wang Yun frowned in puzzlement.

Who would come by this early in the morning?

He spat out the toothpaste foam and went to the door.

When he opened it, he found last night’s attendant standing there. The moment the attendant saw that Wang Yun had answered, delight flashed across his face.

“Sir, thank goodness, you’re awake at last. I came to collect last night’s dishes.”

Wang Yun gave him a slightly surprised look. Then he stepped aside and opened the door wider.

The attendant glanced around quickly. Seeing that no one was paying attention to this side, he slipped into the room in a flash. Once inside, he pressed a hand to his chest and tried to steady his breathing.

“Sir, that scared me to death. I heard that one of the other attendants was caught bringing in a phone without permission last night. From last night until now, no one has seen him. Please, whatever you do, don’t mention the phone to anyone.”

Just then, the doors to the other two bedrooms behind Wang Yun opened, and two men stepped out.

One of them, slightly plump, ran a hand through his hair and asked, “What phone? Who disappeared? Brother Wang Yun, what are you talking about this early in the morning?”

The speaker was Baren. He had only just woken up, and his mind was still foggy. He had not grasped what was going on at all.

Colin, on the other hand, had clearly heard what the attendant said. His expression darkened as he looked at Wang Yun.

He was worried Wang Yun might be about to do something dangerous.

The attendant, meanwhile, nearly stopped breathing the moment the other two men appeared.

He stared at them in terror.

He had no idea why two people had suddenly emerged.

Then it hit him; they had definitely heard everything he had just said.

What was he supposed to do now?

The attendant panicked so badly he almost lost his wits. Helplessly, he looked to Wang Yun for rescue.

The pitiful look on his face was enough to make Wang Yun laugh despite himself.

Wang Yun gestured behind him with one hand, signaling the other two not to speak for the moment. Then he turned back to the attendant, who still looked half-frightened out of his mind.

“Relax. What happened last night stays between the two of us.”

    The attendant still looked tense.

“Go ahead and clear away last night’s dishes. Don’t worry about anything else.”

    The attendant nodded hard.

This man was not even that old, and yet there was something about him that made people trust him without question.

His words seemed to carry a kind of magic.

He had said not to worry, and somehow the attendant really did feel a little calmer.

So he stopped overthinking it, hurried over to clear the table, and then slipped out as fast as he could.

Only after the man had gone did Baren finally work out what he had heard.

“So he got caught bringing in a phone, and you found out?”

But Colin seemed to have picked up on something more. A thoughtful look had come over his face.

Wang Yun did not answer either of their questions.

“Forget what just happened. Act like you didn’t see anything.”

He could not even be bothered to invent an excuse. He knew neither of them would betray him.

“Come on. Let’s go get breakfast.”

Wang Yun called to them and led the two men toward the dining hall.

At the same time, Samson was also sending people in shifts to get breakfast. He knew there was still a hard battle ahead today.

In Mu City, Blood Banquet was practically a giant.

It was tied to influential people from every walk of life.

Pull one thread, and the whole thing would move.

Today, he had to bring every last one of them down in one sweep.

If they missed this chance—or worse, tipped their hand—then who knew how long it would be before they could wipe them out all at once again?

Samson frowned, thinking through how they should move when the time came.

Just then, Rodney knocked on the car window and came over.

    “Captain, breakfast.”

He held out the food in his hand.

Samson looked at Rodney, and suddenly, an idea struck him.
