Chapter 993: Making Sure They Never Leave Once They Arrive
by tinytreeSeeing the serious look on Wang Yun’s face, everyone nodded as well.
Noticing that everyone else had grown tense too, Wang Yun deliberately lightened the mood and turned toward Big Mouth.
“Make something good for breakfast this morning. We’ve got a lot of work ahead of us.”
Big Mouth nodded and went to prepare breakfast for everyone.
Old Zhou followed after him.
“I’ll help.”
Xiao Gao and Xu Shisan took Xiang Xiang outside to wash up as well.
Soon, only Wang Yun and Ying Yuezi remained inside the room. Wang Yun awkwardly tried to head outside, but Ying Yuezi grabbed him and stopped him.
“You got chilled this morning. Stay inside and warm up a little.”
Before Wang Yun could react, she suddenly snatched the wet clothes from his hands and walked out.
Wang Yun reached out instinctively, trying to take his damp clothes back, but she refused.
“Rest for a bit. I was going to wash clothes anyway; it’s no extra trouble.”
Without waiting for a response, she walked out.
Outside, Xiao Gao was helping Big Mouth tend the fire. When he noticed the wet clothes in Ying Yuezi’s hands, his expression dimmed.
Old Zhou caught the entire scene.
Following Xiao Gao’s gaze, he looked toward Ying Yuezi and instantly understood everything.
Like an experienced elder, he patted Xiao Gao on the shoulder.
Xiao Gao forced out a smile uglier than crying.
Inside the room, Wang Yun stared at the shock points displayed in his mind.
Not bad, not bad. He’d earned quite a lot recently.
After thinking for a moment, he spoke to the system.
‘Exchange for the God-Level Homemade Bomb Crafting Skill.’
‘Host, the God-Level Homemade Bomb Crafting Skill requires 4.5 million shock points. Host currently possesses 15,423,500 shock points.’
Wang Yun clenched his teeth.
This scam system was getting greedier and greedier.
‘Exchange it.’
‘Ding! Congratulations, Host, for obtaining the God-Level Homemade Bomb Crafting Skill. Friendly reminder: Please do not casually create bombs to harm others.’
Wang Yun looked at the system notification in surprise.
Since when had the system become this considerate?
Shaking his head, he stopped thinking about it.
There wasn’t time.
The reason Wang Yun’s pack had been so absurdly heavy was because it was stuffed full of materials he believed could be used for making explosives. Although anyone who studied chemistry understood the basic principles behind explosions, Wang Yun was pressed for time and lacking materials.
He didn’t have the luxury to slowly experiment and research things himself.
That was why he’d had no choice but to learn bomb-making from the black-hearted system.
After breakfast, Wang Yun began assigning tasks to the fully prepared group.
He had Xu Shisan gather bricks and construct a furnace. Wood was placed inside, and a pipe was connected to vent the distilled vapor.
By heating and dry-distilling the materials, they produced crude ether.
After that, Wang Yun instructed Ying Yuezi to prepare a large amount of cotton.
Cotton was an important ingredient for making explosives.
It first had to be processed, then nitrated, and finally mixed with ether into a dough-like substance.
Afterward, it was cut into square pieces and mixed with lead powder.
Using these methods, the group managed to produce a small amount of explosives.
Then Wang Yun brought Xiao Gao along to create nitroglycerin explosives using castor oil mixed with charcoal, saltpeter powder, sulfur powder, and other materials.
After working nonstop for most of the day, the group finally produced a limited amount of explosives.
Once the explosives were completed, everyone ate lunch.
Afterward, Wang Yun instructed them to search the house for as many ropes, spikes, and similar items as possible.
Once everything was ready, Wang Yun had Old Zhou and Xiang Xiang stay behind to guard the courtyard while he led the others into the forest carrying all the prepared materials.
Wang Yun brought everyone to a narrow route that anyone heading toward the courtyard would be forced to pass through.
There, he began setting up fixed bow traps.
He had Xiao Gao find large elastic branches from sturdy trees to form bow frames, while using tree bark to create bowstrings.
Wang Yun secured the completed bows onto tree trunks and placed two branches in front of them to serve as arrow guides.
At the same time, he instructed Big Mouth to make arrows tipped with sharpened arrowheads.
Once completed, the bows were drawn and connected to sensitive trigger mechanisms.
The trigger tension was carefully adjusted so that small animals wouldn’t accidentally activate them.
That way, if someone passed through later, they’d be riddled with arrows instantly.
After completing the traps, Wang Yun carefully concealed every trace of their work. He made sure nobody would notice anything unusual before stepping into the trap itself.
Then Wang Yun led the group toward another unavoidable path.
This time, he had everyone start digging pits.
Wang Yun instructed Ying Yuezi to prepare sharpened bamboo stakes and wooden spikes.
Once the pits were finished, he placed the sharpened stakes inside. Even if the traps didn’t kill intruders outright, they would at least immobilize them.
For Wang Yun, delaying enemies was already enough.
Afterward, he dug up sections of grass and soil from nearby areas and carefully covered the traps.
Everything was disguised perfectly, without the slightest sign of disturbance.
Then Wang Yun led everyone to the only stream deep within the forest. There, he instructed the group to prepare large numbers of sharpened bamboo spears.
Meanwhile, he personally took the prepared ropes and began setting up tripwires.
Once the tripwires were ready, Wang Yun inspected the sharpened bamboo everyone had prepared.
That should be enough.
He attached the spikes onto bamboo poles and connected the tripwires to them as well. Then the bamboo poles were hidden beside the stream beneath thick patches of reeds and water plants.
With the vegetation concealing them, the bamboo poles were completely invisible.
The moment someone triggered the tripwire, the tension-loaded bamboo poles would snap back at a speed impossible to dodge.
